Life Gives Me A Day Off (Jade)

Liam and I were laying on the couch, I was reading and he was mindlessly playing with my hair.

Dad was working late again, so we were all alone.

"When's your dad coming home?" Liam asked.

"I'm not sure, late. That's his normal," I murmured, flipping the page of my book. Liam held me close.

Keys jingled outside the door, my heart stopped and I jumped up.

"Make your self invisible from him, I'll make sure he doesn't notice anything," I instructed.

The door opened and dad came inside, I could smell the smoke from his uniform.

"Hey, sweetheart," he greeted, giving me a tired grin.

I glanced at Liam who was standing next to me.

"Hey, dad your home early,"

The spell was working, Liam moved to the closed door, dad saw nothing.

Magic was becoming easier to process the more I saw it. I hadn't practiced any on my own yet. But seeing Liam and his family use it made it seem more normal.

"Yeah, slow night, they sent me home,"

I concentrated hard on making him focus on me so he didn't notice the door moving.

Liam opened the door and blew me a kiss before he left.

"Okay, well I was just on my to bed," I lied.

"Okay, goodnight,"

"Night Dad,"

Once I got to my room, I got ready for bed. After I was all tucked in, I checked my phone.

Home safe and sound, Good night Xo Liam.

I went to sleep still smiling.

I woke up groggy and glared at my alarm clock.I was wasting time by just laying in bed and I needed to get going, but my heavy eyelids didn't seem to agree.

There was only a few more weeks until the recital and the mini dance class id been teaching was going perfectly. Each and every girl was extremely dedicated and focused with their whole being turning class, at first it was slightly unnerving, seemed almost unaturl, then I remembered being their age and how it felt to swim gracefully through music to be on a gaint stage with all my friends.

When I looked back to the clock my heart thudded and my laziness was shoved away as I untangled myself from the blanket and stumbled to my closet.

I pulled on my black leotard and tights, covering up with sweatpants and a heavy sweatshirt. I coiled my hair tight in a bun and clasped my necklace around my throat. I quickly grabbed a granla bar for breakfast and my bag and then dashed out of the apartment and into the street, hauling down a taxi.

I made it just in time and flashed a weary smile one of my friends who smirked and shook her head looking over to the clock on the wall.

I fumbled with my keys as I opened the door to the studio. I unlocked the cabnit that housed my stuff and the stereo and notebooks.

I stripped the bulky clothes off and got my music ready.

After my class was ready it was time for my actual lessons.

Ms.Cross was excited when she saw me, she was holding a box with nicely packaged clothes.

"They came! All your costume! I mean just look at the one for your ballet piece!" She squealed, she wrinkled crinkled as she smiled wide.

She handed me a dress, the top had one sleeve of black material that went down the torso the black faded into a deep purple, and then at the waist it was lilac then the short swaying fabric became white.

It was indeed gorgeous, the material would cling to my body all but the skirt that was meant to flow like water around me.

We spent the next half hour going through the clothes, she had me try them all on, making sure they fit perfectly. One was fitted to fit a 20's tap piece, another was a pair of tight yoga pants that were ripped gray crop tops and a shredded black sweatshirt, also cropped, for my hip hop piece and so much more.

After everything was cleaned up and I went through all my routines flawlessly with my eyes closed it was finally time for me to go home.

I packed all my stuff up and changed back into my comfy sneakers opened the studio's door and almost collied right into Liam.

"Wha- Laim?"

He flashed his smirking grin and made my stomach flip.

"Hi ya, seems I'm to late for my master plan," He laughed.

A mom mubled behind me and I quickly jumped out of the way and pulled Laim with me down the street.

"Your plan?" I asked as we walked.

"My master plan, I was going to try and sneak a look at your practice, but I had trouble finding a cab in time, oh well, I will try anther time," He gave a over done sigh, which triggered a roll of my eyes.

"And why, pry tell, did you you want to secretly watch my lessons? Makes you seem like a stalker or a pervert," I quirked my lips.

Laim gave a dark chuckle and leaned in closer to me.

"Im always a perevert when it comes to you,"

I bite my lip and narrowed my eyes as I met his gaze.

"Please, you can't keep up with me,"

In one movwmnt he grabbed me and tugged me into the alley and pressed my back to the brick building.

His much taller frame was towing over me, he lowered his head so his nose brushed my forehead, our eyes still holding each other.

"You sure about that?" He grumbled.

I squred my shoulders and licked my lips, he was easy to start up, like a new car.

He wasn't touching me, but his body was caged around me, I lifted my hands and brushed them up his abdomen, he let out a barely audobile growl, letting me know I was testing his limits.

"Oh I'm very sure,"

I quickly stepped around him.

"You coming?"

I smirked and I heard him mumble something about how next time I wouldn't get away so easily.

He fell back in step with me.

"You never answered my question," I stated as I checked for cars before starting to cross the busy street.

"You interrupted me," He reminded.

I shrugged my shoulders like I didn't do it on purpose.

"I wanted to watch you dance," He admitted and I gave him a side eyed glance.

"Youve seen my dance plenty of times," I retorted.

"I know, but I wanted to see you dance with out an aduidance you were aware of,"

A shiver raced down my spine. I didn't really know how to respond to that so I quickened my speed and changed the subject.

"My dad should be gone all day, what do you want to do?"

"I want to play my favorite game again,"

I groaned as I unlocked the door to the apartment and held to the door open for Laim to come in.

"I hate that game, what else could you possibly ask me!" I set my stuff down on the table and fell onto the couch.

"Lots and lots, I stay up all night thinking of questions to ask you," He smirked as he lifted me up enough so he could sit down and then settled me ontop his lap, my head rested on his thigh, I smiled up at him.

"Has anybody tolded you how annoying you can be?" I asked.

His short curls bounced as he laughed.

"Once or twice,"

His fingertips cereesed over my face and his smile faded a bit.

"Where do you want to go today?" He asked, gazing over me.

I bunched my lips to one side and consatrated.

"I think the beach, with a vibrant sunset and really blue waves,"

He nodded and closed his eyes.

Around us the apremnt seemed to shimmer and change. The pictures of the wall, and the kitchen seemed to dissolve into different shades of orange, yellow and pink. The couch became tiny grains of sand.

When I focused my eyes we were alone, laying on the beach, my promised sunset was ahead, I could hear the sift crashing of the deepest blue waves.

"Perfect," I whispered.

"I'm glad you think so, now as for my questions, tonights theme, biggest fears, starting when you were a kid,"

I chuckled and shook my head.

For days when ever we were together, he would ask me never ending questions, wanting to know everylast deatal about me, every memory I contained.

No matter how annoying it got, I always anwsed., sometimes I could get him to shut up long enough for me to get in a few questions of my own.

"Oh lets see.... When I was seven I was abustolty and utterly terrified of bees. It all started when...."

Story after story led to more questions and time passed by in a blur.

The gentle waves lured me to sleep and Laim eased us out of the false vision and we were back in the apartment.

"Come on lazy bones, your dad will be home soon and your still in your dance clothes," He teased and made me sit up.

I huffed and rubbed my eyes. I stood up and he followed.

My arms slipped around him and my face nestled into his shoulder, breathing in the faint smell of his body wash.

I felt his arms curl around me and his lips brush over my hair.

"I'll see you tomorrow, get some sleep. I'll have more questions,"

I mumbled a goodbye but when it came time to let him go, it seemed I had to focus on every finger to curl and release him.

He gave me a small twitch of the lips before he slipped out the door.

Now in a very unhappy mood, I trudged my stuff to my room and changed into some pj's, I let my hair out of its spiral and it fell down in soft curls.

I fell into my bed and let the blankets fall over me, I barely heard my dad come home before I shut my eyes and feel asleep.
