A Funny Little Thing Called Fate

~Peyton~

I was shaking, I couldn't take my eyes off the ring. In a matter of minutes, they both had bruises spotting on their necks and blood oozing from their skin.

"See isn't this exciting?"Cooper whispered in my ear.

I shook my head.

My face was stuck in permanent disgust, but it was like a train wreck, no matter how gory and awful, you couldn't look away.

"No, it's not. It's awful! How can you watch this?" I shuddered, glaring at him.

Cooper shrugged and went back to watching.

Someone was going to die tonight, and all anyone was doing was throwing money at them.

~Jade~

Tears pricked my eyes, my body so tense I thought I would explode. Somehow I'd made my to the front of the crowd. Caleb was winning the girl seemed to be putting up a fight, but she was stumbling and losing focus. Caleb saw every vulnerability and he took advantage of it.

Yet somehow my heart tugged at the girl, I should be at least happy that my best friend wasn't as hurt, but I could only think of the poor girl, I could see in her eyes the fight and fear that she was trying to cling too.

I couldn't believe this, this person wasn't my best friend. This was a ruthless, animal-like monster.

Caleb had her pinned down flat. He picked up her shoulders, her head limp and her body giving out. He slammed her back down and I could see her grimace in pain.

My breath caught in my throat. I didn't know this girl, not a bit, but she couldn't die, waves of panic and grief twisted inside me.

"Caleb!" I sobbed loudly, hot tears streaming down my face. He looked at me for a second, had I blinked I don't think I would have noticed. He gave me a small smirk before turning back the girl.

"Please stop," escaped my mouth in a barely audible whisper.

~Ryker~

"Whoa dude, watch it! You're getting beer everywhere!" Ethan exclaimed.

I was squeezing the keg tap too hard and beer was spilling out onto the floor, I quickly let go. I didn't take my eyes off the fight, not because I was enjoying it like some of these sickos but because watching her get hurt was like watching a loved one getting beat up.

"I told you she was weak, a lot of people are losing money tonight," Ethan grimaced and picked up the tap, pouring a new cup.

I gulped and my fingernail bit into my skin, leaving crescent-shaped imprints in my palms.

Please, please get up!

~Hale~

The mat was cold against my sweaty, hot skin. My body felt so tired, I could barely keep my eyes open.

I felt the blow to the left side of my face, and the one to the right side. I started to raise my fist to fight back but he was quicker and dug his fist into my gut. My body instinctively wanted to curl up to protect myself, but it hurt too much to move.

Caleb brought his mouth to my ear.

"I'm sorry, I really am. But girls like you always die and no one gives a shit, might as well make some money off of it,"

He smashed my head back down, I could feel my brain move. My ears were ringing making everything hard to hear, expect the stupid whispers. They were as loud as ever, almost screaming in their hushed tones. Whatever they were saying wasn't fully in English, it was some other tongue. The only thing I could make out was Say it, then it went on to some jumble of words.

Say it Hale! Now repeat! Now!

It was hard to speak with a busted lip, I didn't even really know if I was talking at all.

All of a sudden I felt better, my vision stood still and my body stopped feeling like dead weight. I felt like someone had just plugged me in and charged me up.

Meanwhile, Caleb wasn't looking too good. He was wobbling above me and his eyes kept fluttering.

"You know you only need one really good hit to win a fight," I muttered as I raised my arm and hit my elbow to the side of his head. He slumped down falling unconscious

~Peyton~

The door banged down slamming into the concrete floor, It sounded like a bomb went off. Everyone forgot the fight and turned toward it. All of a sudden white fog hung in the air. It didn't hurt or make me feel weird, it just made it hard to see.

"Cooper! Lucy!" I called out. I could barely hear my own voice over the screaming and yelling. What the hell was going on? My panicked thoughts were interrupted when someone grabbed my hand and started pulling me.

"Hey! Who are you!" I asked as I tried to tug my arm away.

"Shhh child, trust me," A woman's delicate voice told me.

"Trust you? I don't even know you!" I retorted and pulled away from her again, but her grip was steel tight.

"No you don't, but I know you. You're in danger, they are here for you,"

"Who found me? What the hell are you talking about? Where are you taking me?" I was going to ask more questions but the woman stopped me.

"Peyton, I know you have a lot of questions. But we don't have time, we need to get somewhere safe, now,"

I thought about it for a second and stopped resisting.

~Jade~

A scream erupted from me as the door busted down, then the room filled with white fog. I stumbled forward, I couldn't even see my hands in front of me. I had to find Caleb. It all happened so fast, him hitting the mat and not getting up the door and fog. What was going on, how did I get here? I should have stayed home with my couch and movies like I wanted to.

I got down on my hands and knees and patted around for him.

"Caleb! Caleb?"

Someone wrapped their arms around my waist and pulled me up.

"I know it may not seem, like it but I'm here to help you," Grunted a strained voice from behind me.

"Uh-uh nope. Let me go, let go of me right now!" I squirmed, but he was much stronger than me.

"Jayden, please! We don't have the time, we aren't safe here,"

I stopped struggling to shocked to move. No one called me Jayden, I was always Jade, he knew my name.

"Trust me please,"

I bit at my lip and put my life into the hands of this complete stranger.

~Ryker~

"Holy shit!" Ethan exclaimed when metal hit concrete. Next, I heard the white gas steam out of its container.

"Ethan!" I called when the room was to white to see.

"Ryker? Ryker!"

It was a women's voice that answered, not Ethan. I felt her hand grab me and pull me away from my corner.

"Please, Ryker we have to go! We are in danger,"

My brain kept jumping from thought to thought. First, I thought of the tune of Danger Zone started to play in my head. Next was that she knew my name and was telling me that I wasn't safe.

Yolo I thought as I made up my mind.

"Alright let's go!" I rushed, letting the women lead.

~Hale~

My burst of energy was short-lived. After Caleb fell shit hit the fan, There was a loud bang and then the room filled with white smoke.

I could hear the cacophony of hysteria around me. People were yelling and screaming trying to find their way out.

I had to get out of here, I started to sit up but pained radiated up and down my torso and I laid back down breathing heavy, as my body throbbed.

"Fuck," I muttered.

My body was done, drained from the fight.

"No,no,no,no,no,no. Come on Hale we can't stay here," a determined voice said to me.

I was so tired, I could feel myself start to let go, wanting to rest.

"Hey, Hale. Open your eyes, we have to go you aren't safe here,"

"I- so tired," I mumbled, mostly to myself. Maybe Caleb was right, girls like me don't live long lives.

"Alright, come on,"

Arms wrapped around me and then I was floating, no, I was being carried.

I felt my head fall back as I finally gave way to sleep, too tired to fight whoever had me.
