Chapter 11: "Lucky Me"

"Need a ride?" a guy asked. I closed my eyes sighing, before opening them again and looking over my shoulder. All four of the guys from my new team were standing there, watching me. I studied them.

First, you had the Nico di Angelo dude named Acyn.

Then there was the overly excited one from who I didn't know the name of and the two remaining guys.

One of them looked older than the rest by a few years. Probably the leader. His golden-brown skin got accentuated by his light eyes and messy, curly brown hair.

The other and the last dude…. That was a completely different story. His hair was platinum blonde, almost white, and his eyes a bright icy kind of blue. But his eyes we're nothing but bright. They stood cold, uninterested… tormented.

I recognized him.

I did the moment my eyes landed on him in John's office. He was the other person who tried running from this place. And it was little old me who took him back.

"You really need to slow down with those injury's, Sage." I snapped my glance back to the one who I presume is the leader of the group.

"What's the reason you were put in our team anyway? We don't need you," the platinum blond dude stated. I rolled my eyes at him.

"You think I like this? I don't. Let's just say that John's will is above all the others."

"So… You didn't choose to anticipate in our team? You just got put in it?" The leader asked, frowning. I just closed my eyes and leaned against the brick wall. I didn't bother to respond. They knew the answer if they listened to what I said before. My legs were trembling underneath me. "You don't look that good, Sage."

"She looks like shit." Without opening my eyes, I knew that insult – or at least attempted insult – came from the platinum blond dude. Man, he needs to step up his game if he'll even want to try to hurt my feelings in the slightest.

"Don't even try to fucking touch me," I said in my cold, harsh tone when I sensed that a hand was coming my way. I opened my eyes to see that the leader of the group had indeed stretched his arm towards me to touch me. Maybe to support me or something, but I didn't care. I didn't want to be touched. Ever.

"Okay, look. If we ever want to work together as a team, we need to get along. I know the situation isn't ideal. But, let's make the best of it by putting our best effort into it. Otherwise, it won't work."

"It won't work anyhow," I muttered. I pushed myself off the wall and started stumbling away again.

"Do you want a ride?" Acyn yelled after me.

"No, thank you! I'm good!" I yelled back. I gasped for air and stopped moving when another wave of pain rushed through my body. Gods damnit!

"That's one stubborn chick, man."

"I'm not going to watch this any longer," the leader dude sighed. I heard footsteps coming my way, but I couldn't respond to them. My world was spinning again, just like it started to be hard to stay conscious.

What the fuck did Aaron inject me with?!

I screamed, and my whole body immediately tensed up when someone scooped me up in his arms. I looked up and saw that it was the leader boy. "Put me down," I demanded. He just shook his head and started walking with me in his arms. "I said, put me down. Now." When my demands didn't affect the guy, I got frustrated. A fear like no other rushed through my veins. I tried hard to fight off the fear and the memories. "Please put me down. Please," I begged. The fear that I felt in my whole body, the fear I tried to suppress but failed to, could be detected from my voice.

For the first time, the guy that was holding me looked down at me. He looked me in the eyes, and he could see the fear. "We're almost there. Just hold on, okay? I'm not going to hurt you." I took in a few deep breaths and closed my eyes, trying to calm myself.

When I was finally put down, it was like I could finally breathe again. I took a few deep breaths and leaned against the tree next to me. "Don't do that again. No touching." I opened my eyes and saw that the three other boys joined leader boy and me.

"Get in," was his only response. I rolled my eyes at him.

"I'd rather not. Thank you very much."

"Get. In. The. Damn. Car."

"No."

"Just get in, jeez!" the platinum blond dude yelled, annoyed.

"No!"

"Now!"

"Fucking make m-" He quickly covered my mouth with his hand.

"Trust me, Sweetheart. That's a sentence you don't want to finish. Now, get in gods' damned car." A shiver ran down my spine when his hot breath caressed my cold skin. I hit his hand away from me and spun myself out of his hold. I stared at him in annoyance before rolling my eyes and lifting my arms in surrender.

"Fine. I'll get in the fucking car."

"Great! Let's go!" the overjoyed brown-haired dude said. "Oh, the name is Joey, by the way." I just rolled with my eyes and got in the damn car. Joey sat beside me, and Di Angelo sat on my other side while the leader boy got behind the wheel and platinum turd in the passenger's seat.

Great. Just great.

No personal space at all.

"Oh, and that's Blaise, he's the leader of Alpha 1," Joey continued introducing anyone while he pointed at the guy who I already suspected was the leader. "And that's Acyn, but you already knew that. And last but not least, the grumpy dude in the front seat is called-"

"Raze Phoenix," I cut him off before he could finish his sentence. Joey nodded his head. At the same time, the rest of the team gaped at me. I caught Razes's stare, but I ignored it.

"How did you know that?" Acyn asked suspiciously.

"Let's just say that I never forget." I closed my eyes and leaned back in my seat. Completely ignoring the guys' stares.

"So, Sage. What's your address?" Blaise asked after a minute of awkward silence.

"Warwick Terrace number hundred and fourteen," I answered without opening my eyes.

"Really?! Only the most trusted agents live on that street."

"Yeah. Lucky me," I said sarcastically.
