Midnight Counsel

[A/N: These upcoming chapters will be a frustrating read, I know that and it is something that will generate resentment. Know some things:

1. While working on these chapters, I was bound by time. I had almost no time to write as I worked a lot. 

2. I wanted to try my best to flesh out the relationship between MC and Soi Fon. 

3. Every major plot-point is/was planned from the moment Chapter 1 was dropped. So nothing was affected by the "Controversy" of the sudden revelation. 

While I haven't gotten to it, most of the stuff that I write had already been planned; How many Wives MC will have, his Zanpakuto, his backstory (Not written yet, but is already decided), his future lovers, his future enemies, and the end of his story. 

As of today, Patreon's latest chapter has a somewhat answer to what had truly happened (Nothing too specific or in detail) But it wasn't affected by this whole thing. 

Everyone is out here telling me shit, but let me tell you all something; I am not apologizing for writing my story. Think whatever you want. Idk why, but it's always from the readers of this specific story that I get the worst comments, which annoy me.

Anyways, in the upcoming chapters, MC has his Zanpakuto Release, so look forward to that.]

(Genryujin's POV)

"We have to approach this carefully, Genryujin!" Retsu said with a commanding tone

I was pacing back and forth in the room she and I were conversing in, "What the hell do you think I wanna do?!" I said, "I cannot push Katori down, you know that! And Saito, she isn't herself, it worries me! She'll eventually burst and do something stupid!" 

I had called her with urgent news in the middle of the night. She came as fast as she could, wearing nothing but her white sleeping kimono, her long and beautiful black hair draped down her shoulders as her bare and sleepy face glistened under the moonlight. 

"Stupid?" She said seriously, "You want to talk stupid? You abducted Tsunayashiro Echizu, dragged him down to your Estate, and executed him in cold blood!! That was the pinnacle of stupidity, Genryujin!" 

I stopped, "I don't give a fuck about that." I said with a scowl, "I wanna know why I shouldn't go to Squad 5's Barracks and kill Sousuke Aizen, right fucking now!" 

"Are you insane? You'll trigger a War! Did we not speak about you carefully maintaining a balance in this place, avoiding a serious conflict as grave as this?" She said with a scowl, "You're going against what you told me!" 

I walked up to her, "THEY RAPED HER, RETSU!" I shouted, "They fucking raped her for who knows how fucking long!!! And I didn't know about it!!!" 

I sat down in front of her as I punched the floor, my entire body shaking in anger. I couldn't believe it, I couldn't fucking believe that I allowed such a thing to even happen. I shouldn't have let them lock her up, I shouldn't have!!! I should've waged war for her, for them all that time ago....I.....I cannot believe I'm so fucking stupid....

I closed my eyes, feeling the anger overtake me.....my entire head was throbbing, bloodlust clouding my mind at the moment. I couldn't help it. Aizen used Hypnosis to make the bastards think it was Retsu that was condoning it. He was gonna have her framed.....no....he wanted Saito think it and drive a wedge between us....

"Genryujin..." I heard Retsu's soft voice

I looked up and looked at her, she was giving me a worried look. 

"Do not....." She said, "Do not start a needless war....Please...." 

I narrowed my eyes, "How could you say that?" I said, "Saito....my...Our...Saito....she was defiled, Retsu..."

"You told me.." She said, "You promised me....that you would follow these foolish laws for me....Please, I'm asking you...stand down..for now....we shall think this through...." 

"I can't..." I said, "I can't think this through. I have to do it....I have to.....You know I have to...." 

She reached over and grabbed my hand, her soft hands felt like a comfort that I needed right now. 

"I know you're feeling guilty..." She said, "I know you want to make it up to her by shedding blood...but this...this isn't 1000 years ago, Genryujin...I know that this reminds you of-" 

"Don't you dare bring that up." I snapped as I pulled my hand away, "Don't you dare bring her up!!" 

I stood up and walked towards the doors. 

"Genryujin!" She called with a strong tone, "Do NOT....walk out that door..." 

I glanced at her, "And If I do?" 

She stood up, "I will not allow my Husband to charge head-on into a war with Soul Society." She said with a serious tone, "For tonight, sit this one out. You killed the one who raped Saito, it's over." 

"It's not over until I have Aizen's head." I growled, "You're not going to stop me, Retsu." 

"Why did you call me here then?" She asked, "You want me to stop you." 

She walked over to me and grabbed my arm with a firm. 

"What will you do?" She asked, "Will you raise your hand against your wife? I know the kind of man you are, you're willing to cut down anyone in your way once you get into it.....would you cut me down, Genryujin? Your Wife? The one who has been at your side for so long?" 

I narrowed my eyes, "Don't you do this." I said, "Retsu...." 

She leaned in closer to me, "Please let me handle this.." She said softly, "If you follow through, Soi Fon, Katori, and Saito will suffer." 

"I..." I started

"Let's approach this carefully, Gen...." She said as she patted my cheek, "The best thing for all of us....is that we plan ahead....we must confirm that it was him....." 

I looked at her, "It was...." I said, "It couldn't have been you....I know it...I just....." 

"It wasn't..." She said as she placed my hand against her chest, "I would never do that.....not to you...not to her....not to Katori.....Never.....the mere thought of that breaks my heart...Genryujin...." 

I looked down, "I demand someone bleeds for this, Retsu..." I said, "Someone has to die..." 

"Someone already did...." She said as she rubbed my hand, "Let us go to bed, my dear. I will speak to your Grandfather about this...." 

"There is no need." I heard a voice say

I turned to see Soi Fon standing in the shadows of the room as she revealed herself. 

I frowned, "Why're you here?" I asked

"I cannot be in the home of my husband?" Soi Fon said with a serious face, "Captain-Commander.....what say you?" 

She lifted a badge up, "What you're saying is a grave accusation, Genryujin."  I heard Gramps say, "Are you positive?" 

I nodded, "I am." I said

"Will you act?" He asked, "Will the Tiger pounce on its unassuming prey?" 

I recognized that phrase. It was a code that he and I would have when we were referencing secret talks in front of others. He and I would constantly use it back in the day when he didn't want Shirahoshi to hear what we would have planned. 

This was a reference to the talk of the traitor. I couldn't risk Soi Fon and Retsu hear about that. For all I know, they could be under the influence of Aizen. Even now, it is a risk I'm willing to take. If they are under his influence, I will be able to purify them. However, I cannot do that unless I know for sure. 

"The tiger will pounce, Grandfather." I said seriously, "Mark my words, there will be blood."

"Not tonight." He said, "This stays between us Four. Katori and Saito must be contained, Genryujin. I cannot have them wreaking havoc. Until we have his confession, I will not have you outside your estate." 

"For once, I will not let you order me aro-" I started

"Captain Aizen is under my Jurisdiction and last time I checked, I am the Gotei's Captain-Commander." He cut me off, "You are not part of the Gotei, you are my grandson. As your Grandfather and your family, I am asking you this. Do you think this doesn't bother me? A Captain manipulating my Men to make everyone think my Grandaughter-in-law allowed a Rape in my prison? Unacceptable. Soi Fon, as your Grandfather-in-Law, I ask that you stay with Katori and Saito, keep an eye on them. Do not be hostile." 

"Yes, sir..." Soi Fon said softly

The connection cut off; he hung up. 

I walked over to Soi Fon, "This is the last time you sneak around my home." I said seriously, "You make yourself known to me at all times." 

Soi Fon looked at me with a hurt and sad face, "How dare you?" She said, "You've been treating me like garbage recently, Genryujin...you're willing to throw away what we have because of what happened?" 

"You don't under-" I started

She then slapped me with tears in her eyes, my cheek stinging from the blow. 

"OF COURSE I UNDERSTAND!!" She bellowed, "Do you think it doesn't hurt me? Hearing that your beloved Saito was raped? You're a total fucking prick!" 

"Soi Fon..." Retsu started

"I'm not jealous or anything..." Soi Fon sniffed as she took off her captain's haori, "All this Gotei business aside...I want to be looked at the way you look at those three, Gen! I know I'm not them, I know I wasn't by your side 1,000 years ago during the War, but I'm your Wife, dammit!! Treat me like it!" 

I held her by the shoulder, "You're right." I said, "I'm sorry." 

"N-No, don't say that." She said shaking her head, "You just say that, you don't mean it. I'll stay here and keep an eye on them...but by the time Grandfather calls me, I'm leaving...I'm leaving you." 

I widened my eyes, "What?" I said softly

"Soi Fon, don't say that." I heard Retsu say, "Please, not now." 

"I'm sorry." Soi Fon said as she pushed my hands away and walked past me, 

"I can't do this."
