GORIK AND THE VENGEFUL PIGS

Gorik was the eldest of the family. That's why he always liked to wear his bow tie, so he imposed more respect among others, especially his brothers. He was the family, the two brothers: Palovina and Crispino, his father Roroboão and his mother Faustina. It was a plump, healthy family of pigs, which would never become pork chops or bacon, or ribs. Because one fine night they had won their freedom after fleeing their owners' farm. They could then live like free pigs and do what pigs do; contrary to what everyone thinks, that pigs are only meant to get fat and become food, they lead a very interesting and productive life. But now they were thinking of nothing but revenge against the family that decimated, dismembered and separated in Styrofoam packaging all their descendants since the first generation. Preparations were almost ready. Gorik would be responsible for the herbs and spices, Palovina would help Mother Faustina with the preparation of the table: cutlery, plates and whatever else was needed for the banquet. Crispino and Roroboam would provide wood for the fire.

In the warehouse, the large cauldron filled with water was beginning to bubble while Crispino and Roroboam fed the fire even more with wood. The three of them looked at each other, and their mouths, as if an infernal conductor with his hideous baton were imposing the cartoonish gesture, smiled at the same time and their eyes gleamed with satisfaction.

They surrounded the Apolinário's house and waited for the right moment to act. So when the agreed signal was given, the five entered at the same time. Gorik, Crispino and Palovina through the kitchen door and Roroboão and Faustina through the back door that led into the living room, adjacent to the kitchen. Surprised, the family tried to defend itself. Cassandra, the girl, 8 years old, ran to hug her mother and clung to her dress, crying and shaking. Cremilda, the mother, gave a tenebrous scream and repeated: "Oh my God, oh my God"! Casemiro, the father, grabbed a knife from the table, one of those with a saw, and went for Roroboam, but he was knocked down and Crispino jumped with his paws over his face, crushing his skull on the ground as mother and daughter tried to fight for their lives. Cremilda, protecting her daughter, pushed her into the bedroom and locked the door. He threw himself over Gorik, holding him by the ears and beating him as hard as he could, saying, "You filthy pigs, you disgusting beasts. I will finish you off. Your sausages, your live bacon, will become roasted. I swear"! And with a jug of milk that he managed to reach from the table, he hit Gorik's head and he let out a grunt of pain. Palovina and Faustina set out on top of Cremilda, who by then had already got up and ran to her husband. With no time for emotions, he sought strength and didn't think about the bloody, dead body, just took the knife and attacked Crispino, hitting him right in the heart. It squeaked and shook its paws. The others came, tried to knock her down as they did with Casemiro, but they couldn't, she was moving fast and dodging, trying to pierce what was in her sights with the knife.

Cassandra, in the bedroom, wept copiously and knocked on the door calling for her mother. "Mother, mother! I don't want you to die, Mommy, please. They will kill you. Those bad pigs. Bad pigs"! But after calming down a bit, the smart girl had the idea to jump out the bedroom window and ask for help and she did.

In the kitchen, Cremilda was losing her battle with the pigs. Tired, badly hurt, she fell into a sitting position, slashing the air with her knife. Crying, he felt surrendered to the arms of death. Pigs ate it alive, biting arms, legs.

"Let's eat her alive. We'll have the bitch dinner anyway. Let's cut her up, so she can feel in her skin what her inhuman race has done and continues to do with the pigs of the world". Said Gorik, the most excited of the pigs. Palovina, the most intellectual, also took the opportunity to unravel one of her philosophical tirades: "They always use 'pig' to designate everything that is no good: 'Dirty with a pig', 'He eats like a pig', 'Spirit of a pig'. Since that's how it is, let's act like pigs. Is that how we are? So take it, take it"! And biting Carmelina's leg, he took out all his fury. Faustina was moved by the anger she felt when she saw her son Crispino fallen, dead, dejected as humans spoke. He pulled Carmelina's hair, trying to pull it out.

At that moment there had been a commotion and soon some residents arrived, called by Cassandra. With rakes, machetes and axes they pulled the pigs out of the house and tore them apart outside. Cremilda, tremendously weak and bruised, lay passed out on the floor. Still breathing. Cassandra stroked her bloodied hair and spoke in her ear. "Mommy, Mommy. The pigs died. I asked for help. You'll be fine, Mom. It is going to be okay". Cremilda, slowly coming to her senses, revived by her daughter's voice, said eagerly: "Daughter, listen. We're going to have a barbecue here at home today. Tell our neighbors to roast these pigs and season them well seasoned. They will learn who eats who in the end." And this was Henrique's strange dream, who ran to his desk to put it on paper. Sweating, breathing hard, but still excited. Writer that he was, he lived from those nocturnal moments where the intoxicating traveling mists of the air made contact with him and transported him to the most fruitful and terrifying dreams. It was true that Ícelo, metamorphosed into pigs, would appear once more to present him with a good story. One more short story, the last one left to complete his book.
