Chapter 3

The next morning I woke up early to follow the usual ritual: shower, again since the night before I had already showered, dress in tight black jeans, a blue sweatshirt that was loose at the bottom and black converse , make up that consisted of doing the black line with some lip gloss and, finally, putting on my favorite natural homemade cologne made of honey and lavender.

Before leaving, I did a final review of the subject for the exam and went to breakfast with Jenna, who had already been ready for an hour and had spent all that time studying. We got the books and notes and went down to the cafeteria.

The cafeteria was, basically, the social center of the university because the students went to have breakfast, lunch and dinner, and you could study in peace, meet with friends or family members, since they allowed people who were not students to enter.

The walls were a soft gray, and the floor was marble. There were about twenty to twenty-five glass tables, half of which had glass chairs, and the other half had the most comfortable white couches and armchairs. The counter was located in a corner, and there you ordered what you wanted and in five minutes or so they would bring it to the table, but first you would write down the table number on your receipt.

By the time we got there, it was already pretty full. We sat at a glass table with chairs, the ones with the sofas were all taken. We left our things and Jenna said to me:

"Can you ask me for a double expresso? " Today it was my turn to order.

" But if you can't stand black coffee..." I said with a frown. "You're probably have the sweetest thooth I've ever seen in my life, are you sure?" I warned her.

"Yes, otherwise I will not endure the entire exam awake, I need energy" She said highlighting the I need part.

"As you wish, my lady. But I am not going to change it if you don't like it." I said in a childish tone. Her only answer stuck out his tongue at me as I made a playful grin.

I went to the counter and got in line, while I waited I started to review the lesson, when suddenly there was something more interesting that caught my attention: two tables beyond where I was the blonde girl from the bar who had been hooking up with my ex boyfriend. There was just one thing a little bit off... now she wore a beautiful black eye.

I smiled to myself, she deserved it, this way she will learn that other people's boyfriends aren't in the market... Wait, what was she doing here? I wondered curiously. Well, never mind, she sure came because this was the best coffee shop in town. It may not be that she knows that I study here. Such a coincidence couldn't hide something fishy, right?

Luckily for me, she did not notice my presence. I continued with my mental review of the exam until I had to do our order. The first thing that came to mind when I saw the waiter was: They're following me, with a grimace. I immediately corrected myself, maybe it was just that he had student loans to pay. Yes, that must be it. I wasn't the center of the world.

"Hello, what are you going to have today?" Mason said with a smile that didn't show hangover from last night, I needed to know what he took or did not, to not have one.

"A double expresso and a regular" I said admiring his pretty face.

"I'll take it to you right away, can you write me the table number?" He said, pointing to a notebook that had a pen next to it.

"Sure," I said, picking up the pen. In the notebook I wrote the number 12, paid, and went to sit down. When I got to the table Jenna asked what took me so long.

"Did you see the queue there?" She glanced behind my shoulder and made a relief expression, I could hear her thoughts thanking God today was my turn. She wasn't pretty patient. "How do you think the exam will go? I've studied a lot, I think I'm going to get at least an eight."

"Well, pretty good, I think like you. Although there is one thing that I do not understand, even yesterday I spent an hour and a half trying to understand it ... " She looked at me with the face of a slaughtered lamb. I knew right away what she wanted.

"Okaaaay, I'll help you," I said with aplomb. Although by the time I answered she was already pulling out the physics book. She opened it on the subject of antimatter, the worst part of the exam, and showed me the page that she did not understand.

"But that's the easiest part." It was the part of the formation of antimatter, which luckily I knew better than the palm of my hand. So overconfident I explained her how it went. "You see, antimatter is made up of antiparticles: antiprotons, antineutrons and antielectrons. This tells us that the poles are the opposite of what they should be and their order is altered in the opposite way. Therefore, when the two are combined, a mutual neutralization occurs that depends on the terrain located, they can produce different effects: if it is in space, when there is nothing, a black hole is produced, and on the ground there is a large-scale explosion. .."

Jenna motioned for me to stop, and I turned to find the waiter looking at me with a strange expression on his face as he put our drinks on the table. He left without looking back. I was surprised, since whenever I had met Mason he had tried to talk to me. I decided not to mind it and kept trying to explain the thing to Jenn.

When we finished we went to class, but not before leaving the tip for the waiter on the table. We started the exam at nine and finished at one. As we were on exams, they gave us the day off to study, we only had to go to class to take the longest exams in the world.

When I got to the room I collapsed on the bed and turned on the TV, to take my mind off a little as I had already finished my exams for the day, but Jenna still had to do another exam that ended at five. I put the news and opened my phone to check out what was on Instagram when something caught my attention from the report of Channel 6:

"We are informed that about two hours ago, the alleged murderer Víctor Sirón who resided in the high security prison in California escaped approximately two hours ago leaving in his place a single piece of clothing: a jacket from the night of the crime in which he murdered to Liam Taren. The piece was stained with blood, possibly from the victim since the hunter was wearing it at the time of the murder ..."

At that precise moment the world came over me and my mind was shut of out of panic and shock.
