The next day, when Julia woke the kids up to the school, she called for Eric several times, however he wasn’t woken up.
“Eric… Eric…” she called. “Are you alright?? Do your wounds hurt too much?? Hey, Eric!”
As she approached him, his breathing was rapid and his chest heaved rapidly with heavy panting. He was breathing so loudly he sounded like he had just run ten miles or even suffocating like a fish out of water.
It became soon a wheezing sound interspersed with sudden trembling of his body. Then, his lips were trembling with each outlet of air as she felt his icy breath on her hand.
“Oh my god, his temperature is very high!” she yelled as she put her palm on his forehead.
“Mommy, is brother alright?” asked Emilia, who heard Julia yelling from the next room.
“Emi…” murmured Julia. “Eric… Your brother is a bit of tired… Now, eat your breakfast and let grandpa take you to your school.”
