Chapter 7: Arabella in the Past

Two Years Ago: Chicago

Ara’s POV

I heard the news from my aunt that my father is in critical condition. So I went to my hometown in Naperville to visit my father in the hospital. I went alone because Adam couldn’t take a leave from his work plus my twins need to go to pre-school and attend their classes. I asked my neighbour Mrs. Reyes to help my husband in taking good care of my twins while I am not around. Her name is Mirna and I so love her, I miss mother because of her, and she is like a mother to us. She helped me with everything when Adam and I moved in their country. Since it’s a foreign country to us she helped my husband and I to adapt to the new world we are living in. Thanks to her we’ve stabilized immediately and found a new family in them.

I left the hospital walking down the street and nowhere to go, I was lost in my thoughts. My mind was occupied with so many things. I couldn’t think properly, my father is in the ICU fighting for his life. Aside from it, I need twenty thousand dollars for my father’s hospital bill, where and how can I get that huge amount of money. Adam and I have are savings but still not enough to cover that. I stood looking on the traffic lights. Thinking what will I do? My phone rang it was Adam.

“Hi love, how are you?” I said with a soft voice so that he won’t notice my anxiety.

“I am good love, how is dad?” I was about to answer him, when I heard Hannah asking. “Mommy when are you going back here? I miss you mommy” she said yelling.

“I miss you mommy!” Another voice came from my Harry. “Oh my babies, I miss you both so much, mommy’s going to be home in three days.”

“Ok clean up all your toys and go to your bed.” Adam said to them.

“Ok daddy.” The cuties answered their dad.

“Love I need twenty thousand dollars for dad’s hospital bill and I don’t know how much more it will cost since dad is still in the ICU.” I sigh heavily.

“Don’t stress yourself about it, you got our card right?” Adam told me.

“Use all the money and I will take care of the rest.”

“Are you sure love?” I asked.

“Yeah, no worries love, I love you, you take care okay?”

“I love you too.” But before I dropped the call I told him that I am meeting Kelly today.

Kelly is my one and only childhood bestfriend. She got mad at me when I told her that Adam and I need to move to another country because of Adam’s work. She didn’t talk to me for two days but I knew she couldn’t last long without talking to me. I called her the moment the plane landed and told her that I am in Chicago now. She was very excited to see me but she needed to attend to his boss’s meeting this morning since she was his secretary. So she told me to meet her in the hotel where she was checked-in.

Entering the lobby, I picked up my phone on my pocket and sat on the hotel lounge and texted Kelly that I already arrived in the hotel and waiting for her.

“Arabella White!!!” I saw Kelly running and shouting behind me giggling like a kid. I blushed because I know that all eyes are on us.

I stood up and hug my bestie. “I so fucking miss you girl.” She said still arms wrapped around my neck, with all the excitement.

“Omgosh Kelly I can’t breathe.” I told her laughing. “I miss you too girl.” I kiss her on the cheek. “Please don’t do it again.” I said frowning.

“What? What did I do?” Kelly said with an arch brow.

“Oh well you just yelled my name all over the hotel. Thanks to you my friend everybody knows my name now.” I said in a low tone, we were laughing and hugging when we head to the elevator, to Kelly’s room when the elevator opened again. We both sure that it was a guy, a very tall man, who’s towering both of us but we didn’t pay attention because Kelly and I have our own little world when we were together, so I knew it is an endless chit-chat for tonight.
