Chapter 2

"Max..." she murmured in a coquettish voice, a voice that could melt any man's heart.

Except Max's.

Just as she was about to kiss his lips, Max suddenly furrowed his brow and opened his eyes, his deep, dark eyes meeting her gaze.

In the next second, a hint of displeasure flashed in his eyes, and without any sympathy, he pushed her away.

"Stay away from me!" He didn't feel well, probably due to drinking too much. He supported his forehead with his hand, but his voice came out cold.

Emily pouted and moved closer, hugging his arm. "Max, you're drunk. Let me help you."

Max frowned and searched his pocket for something, but couldn't find it. He sharply asked, "Where's my phone?"

The lackey sitting nearby quickly ran over, holding his phone in his hands. "Max, Max, your phone is here. It fell out just now, so I kept it for you."

The lackey hesitated whether to tell Max about the phone call he had just answered.

But at that moment, the phone rang.

Max squinted at the unfamiliar number without a name on the screen and answered the call.

"Max Jenkins!"

He furrowed his brow, unable to recognize Eva's voice, so he was in a bad mood. Apart from his family, no woman dared to shout his name like that.

"Who are you?" he impatiently asked.

On the other end, Eva paused and asked, "Are you Max?"

He thought this woman was simply crazy, calling him and asking if he was Max.

"You're boring. I'm hanging up!"

"Wait! Where are you now? I'll come find you!" Eva urgently stopped him. Even though she didn't understand the situation fully, she could tell from his voice that he was intoxicated and had probably gone out and gotten drunk.

Normally, Max would have hung up immediately, but for some reason, he found the voice somewhat familiar, so he absentmindedly stated his location.

"I'm at Nocturne Bar, Room 201."

"Okay, I'll be right there! Wait for me!"

Eva said and hung up.

Max raised his hand, looking at the disconnected call on his phone screen. Alcohol filled his head, not enough to make him dizzy, but not completely sober either.

"Who the hell was that?" he muttered. No woman had ever dared to command him like that.

Wait, there was one...

Just as he was remembering who it might be, Emily leaned closer again and interrupted him in her coquettish voice, "Max, was that a woman calling you? Your new girlfriend?"

Not wanting to deal with her, Max leaned back on the sofa.

Seeing his discomfort, the lackey quickly left the room and returned with hangover medicine, respectfully presenting it to Max. "Max, here's the hangover medicine."

Max reached out to take it, but Emily snatched it away. "Max, let me feed it to you."

Max was feeling lazy and didn't want to move, so he let her take care of him. After all, he was used to being taken care of by others.

On the other side,

After receiving the address, Eva left her luggage at the security desk on the ground floor and set off to find Max.

It had been a long time since she returned to the country. She sat in the taxi, staring at the street view outside.

Finally, they arrived at the bar street, and the car stopped. The driver's gaze lingered on her chest for a moment with a lewd look before he said, "Miss, this is Nocturne Bar up ahead."
