Unwanted Visitor

Chapter 21: Unwanted Visitor.

Dylan moved away a little to look at Isabella who had her eyes closed. Her unharmed hand snaked around his neck involuntarily to have his warmth surrounding her.

Dylan's lips curled up and his other hand started tracing her face gently making her bite her lips.

"Good Morning Miss Campbell."

Isabella opened her eyes hearing the sudden greeting early in the morning. Dylan frowned hearing the voice he abhorred and pulled himself back. He didn't forget to cover Isabella with her blanket till her neck.

Both of them turned to look at the door and found Benjamin Barnett standing there with a bouquet of red roses in his hands.

"What a pity that a beautiful lady like yourself is lying on hospital bed when you could have been in a better place." Benjamin walked in with a bright smile on his face and settled himself beside Isabella, opposite to Dylan.

"Was my brother too rough that you couldn't handle it anymore?" Benjamin chuckled.

Dylan clenched his jaw and was about to throw him out when Isabella put her hand on him and patted to calm him down. She professionally smiled at Benjamin before speaking.

"Oh.. You have no idea how beautifully rough your brother is Mr Barnett. Might be I should work hard to handle him better the next time. Right, Honey?" Isabella sweetly smiled at Dylan and touched his cheeks with his hands.

Dylan almost jumped from his seat at this soft touch. He knew Isabella well enough to understand what she was trying to deliver with that charming and loving smile of hers. The message was simple - 'Act well or be ready to get thrashed.'

Gulping inwardly, he immediately got into the act. "You don't have to sweetheart. It was my fault. I promise to be gentle from next time." Dylan acted well with an addition of kiss on her nose.

Isabella blushed and the scene cannot be anymore more perfect. Beautiful girlfriend, caring boyfriend, and passionate love.

Dylan and Isabella gave a thumbs up to themselves and glanced at Benjamin. The unwanted visitor was dumbfounded looking at this.

Though Benjamin knew these both were bluffing, still he couldn't see Dylan happy and holding the hand of the girl he hadn't tasted yet.

"How sweet of you to get flowers Mr Barnett. But my Princess is pollen allergic. Hope you understand." Dylan said and smirked.

Benjamin was someone who always kept him on nerves. Even punching him wouldn't give the satisfaction he was feeling right now.

'So, loosing a word fight is what aggravates him. Haha.. Why didn't I figure this out before?' Dylan inwardly chuckled and took the bouquet before throwing it on the couch somewhere.

He wasn't lying when he said Isabella was allergic to pollen. She had severe rashes because of the flowers in the garden of the orphanage when she first came there. And who would bring red roses for someone in hospital? Did Benjamin really think they were fools to accept that.

Benjamin recovered from that blindingly loving scene after sometime and managed to compose himself.

"Ahem.. Father wants to meet you. Go back to States." Dylan's face darkened hearing this. He didn't have a father. And definitely not that man who made him a scapegoat and denied all help.

"If he wants to meet me, then tell him to come here." Dylan replied coldly and Benjamin chuckled.

"Are you sure you want that to happen little brother? Huh? Can you handle it if he really comes here? Think about your little princess here."

Benjamin spoke and his hand went to touch Isabella's face who was looking at Dylan. Dylan, who had noticed this was about to stop his hand when Benjamin was thrown onto to the other side of the room quite badly.

Dylan and Isabella looked stunned and then looked back at Dylan's wings. They were flapping furiously and the blue fire shimmering was even more profound now.

"Didn't you say they don't touch anything? How did they slap him that hard?" Isabella whispered.

"Princess. I am as clueless as you are. Stop asking me. I don't know anything." Dylan shut her up. He had no idea about these weird twins attached to his back.

"WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?" Benjamin growled holding his hand that turned red at the sudden forceful impact.

He had no idea how he was thrown into this corner. "Dylan. Don't test my patience." Benjamin warned but Dylan wasn't scared of this.

"Don't accuse me Mr Barnett. I haven't even touched you. You better go and get a body checkup. Your body seems to be dangerously flexible."

Benjamin's face turned red with fury and embarrassment at this comment. Taking a deep breathe, he calmed himself down before warning him again.

"Go back silently without making any noise. I guess you wouldn't want this beautiful little thing to be used and abused. Right?" Benjamin turned around and left the room.

Dylan clenched his fists hearing Benjamin. He absolutely didn't want to see Isabella hurt. And definitely not because of him. But can he really protect her if he keeps going against the Barnetts?

"I am hungry." Isabella said as she tugged his sleeve, pulling him back from his thoughts.

"I will get the breakfast here. The nurse will come and help you." Dylan left the room to get some light meal for both of them and also took a bath.

Isabella too cleaned up with the help of the nurse and the doctor visited her to check her condition. Except for the light pain, every thing else was fine with her and the doctor left her alone.

"So, how did I get into this fancy luxury hospital suite?" Isabella questioned as she opened her mouth to take the spoon. Dylan was feeding her breakfast and she was quite enjoying this service.

"This hospital belongs to my mother. She has written few shares on my name before she passed away. So it wasn't tough to get this ward here." Isabella nodded and thought for some time before speaking again.

"How did your mother die?.. You don't have to answer if you don't want to." She added not to make him uncomfortable but Dylan smiled instead. She only had to ask and he would never say a NO.

"My mother couldn't give birth, and hence she adopted me. Her husband, also my adoptive father supported her and accepted her decision. Everything he had was because of her family business. So he wouldn't disappoint her."

"It was all good for some years but then my mother found out about his affair and also that he had a son seven years older than me with another woman. She fell into depression and then got addicted to smoking and drinking."

"She was drunk one night and drove the car. It hit the divider and she was no more by the time she was rushed to hospital." Dylan briefed as he simultaneously fed her breakfast.

He didn't look sad and angry. He just accepted the reality as it was presented.

He was never close to his father, and though he liked his mother, that house always made him feel like an outsider and his mother's detachment from everything soon after he came there didn't give him a chance to really get close to anyone.

Might be this was the reason why he didn't think much before leaving that place and coming back here. The place he actually belonged. Near Isabella. He smiled at the thought.

Isabella simply nodded hearing the story. She knew he didn't need any consoling words and neither did she have much say in her vocabulary, and hence kept enjoying her breakfast. None spoke till it was done.

"I don't remember much about my time in Mythiopia." Isabella started, breaking the silence as she looked at Dylan.

"But I have cherished every single memory with parents. I was the odd one out in the kingdom. With zero magical brilliance in me, even though my father is the most powerful wizard and my mother is the best healer."

Dylan listened quietly to see know what she wanted to convey. Isabella never indulged herself in meaningless talks.

"So with me being the crown princess of the kingdom, it was common for me to hear the kids around my age always point out at my flaws and murmuring how useless I was and would fail in protecting the kingdom."

"You are not useless. And you are beautiful and powerful the way you are." Dylan commented as soon as he heard these things. She never told him about this before.

Isabella chuckled hearing him and patted his hand to listen completely.

"I know. And I don't need to prove myself to someone. But I was feeling low at that moment and went crying to father. I blabbered the same thing what everyone else spouted."

"I told him that I might run away from the battle field and fail to protect Mythiopia." Isabella chuckled remembering that moment with her father.

"Wanna know what he told me?" Isabella asked Dylan to which he readily nodded.
