Crystal Ball

Marcus continued to go his way after the call, cautiously observing his surroundings. He focused on enhancing his senses down to to it's absolute limit, and when one of them makes their move, he'll strike.

He continued to walk, patiently waiting for the goons to attack. He didn't have that big of an Ether pool, so he avoided using it as much as possible. He waited and waited, until one of them lunged towards him.

Holding a peculiar bright blue blade in his hand, the robed man lunged towards Marcus, aiming straight for his chest. Marcus who had been waiting for this moment, reacted by simply jumping over the attacker.

Immediately another man in a robe threw something at Marcus, they knew he wouldn't have the time to dodge if they all attacked. Marcus stared down the projectile as he manifested a small thin barrier deflecting them, and in one swift motion he lunged towards the first attacker and went for a kick straight to his gut.

Unfortunately a third one came out of nowhere, and blocked his attack. Marcus backed away as the other two also came out of hiding--

"Just give it up old man." One of them said as bones protruded out of his forearm, forming some sort of spike.

Without even replying back, Marcus rushed towards the one with the boney arm. The man brought up his spike to block his head. Unfortunately for him, Marcus simply phased through him entirely. It was like he became a ghost. Marcus continued on rushing towards each and everyone of them individually and simply phasing through when he was about to attack.

They already knew what his gift was, so it wasn't that surprising. They just thought that he would be more rash and straightforward with his attacks. The hooded men watched as Marcus dashed back to his position. Staring down the five as if they weren't a threat anymore.

He pulled out his phone and seemingly ignored them. This only made the five more furious, as the one who attacked first, jumped out and rushed towards Marcus, but before he could even take a few more steps, he collapsed.

The boney man watched in fear as his colleagues each dropped to the ground one by one. "W-What?" He muttered under his breath, the council never told them anything like this would happen.

He turned his back to Marcus, and started running as fast as he could. He knew he needed to inform the council, and he needed to do it now. The man ran not even bothering to look back, unfortunately for him it had already taken effect. He started feeling dizzy, nauseous even. Then he felt his legs wobble as he couldn't find the strength to keep standing, and just like his friends, he was down on the ground.

Marcus stood there and waited. They were in a fairly hidden place, and it wasn't that unusual to see fights happen. So he didn't worry about anyone seeing. He did worry about something though--

"How the hell am I gonna take care of this.."

He groaned as he looked at the five bodies dropped dead on the floor. He had managed to use something that he had never used before. Incorporating his gift with his high ether control he managed to beat all of them at once.

Suddenly out of nowhere a black car pulled over right in front of him. Out of the front seat came a woman in a business suit. It was the same person who escorted him to John's office back then, John's personal assistant.

The woman took a glance at the bodies and casually snapped her fingers. Three man suddenly came running out of nowhere, all of which were dressed neatly in black suits.

Marcus watched as one of them picked up three while the other two picked up one each. He couldn't help but be in awe at how fast the men cleaned up the site, only taking them a matter of seconds.

"Hop in. Sir John wants to see you." The woman said as she called out to Marcus. Marcus who wanted to go home reluctantly agreed, he knew he didn't have a choice.

Rein woke up a while after Ray left. He panicked as his eyes met the empty hospital bed. He thought something bad had happened, but eventually calmed down, he chucked it off as Ray's grandpa taking him home.

"He could've at least woken me up" he muttered, as he stood up from the old plastic chair he slept on. He was lucky that he snapped out of it as soon as Ray passed out. If not they would be both in their respective hospital beds.

He did some light stretching, as sleeping for a prolonged period of time on a plastic chair wasn't really good for your joints. He lifted his arms up and down and rolled his shoulders back and forth, doing so he bumped into something that was on the desk.

The thing came rolling down the desk and landed on the floor. Rein could hear the sound of glass shattering as a blinding blue light flashed from the room. Rein instinctively closed his eyes as the light suddenly faded away.

All was left of the thing was something that resembled a crystal ball, the ball was split into two as a light tint of blue faded out of it. Then out of nowhere, the black cloth that wrapped around the ball expanded. The cloth grew in size as it swallowed both halves of the ball into it, then in a flash it disappeared.

People who witnessed the bright flash immediately gathered around the room. The nurses and other patients, flocked towards Rein asking what happened. Rein who wasn't really keen on social interaction felt more out of place than ever. He didn't know what to do nor did he know what happened, he was just stretching when he bumped into something. He didn't know it would be a flash bang.

Ray who was outside the hospital, came running in as he surfed through the crowd of people surrounding the room. He looked at the pitiful Rein as he tried his best to explained what happened.

Ray scanned the room for anything unusual, but to no avail. The room looked normal except for a tipped over chair due to the crowd of people pushing it aside, nothing was really out of place, except for one thing that is.

'The thing.. Where is it?' Ray thought to himself as he noticed the sudden absence of the 'bag' that he had gotten earlier.
