“Here,” I said, handing him the bottle before scooting under the blanket. Rapunzel was now curled up on the edge of the bed, ignoring us.

“Thanks,” he replied before guzzling it down. He set the bottle on the floor, then fetched his cell phone to place it nearby. “Let’s hope and pray the damn thing doesn’t go off before I get at least three hours of sleep.” I silently wished for the same.

I turned off the lamp and we snuggled together under the covers. His warm, mildly sweaty scent wrapped around me, along with his legs and arms. I felt secure, and soon, I was fast asleep.
