It was just breaking dawn when Nanzhi heard noise coming again from outside the door.
Two men opened the door and were startled to see all six individuals in the firewood room staring at them.
"You, you are all awake so soon?"
The darker-skinned man stammered.
Mrs. Lin, who had been on guard, paused. Wasn't this bandit different from what she had imagined?
Even though they were suspicious, they didn't let down their guard.
The younger bandit glanced at Nanzhi, scratched his head and put the basket he had been carrying on the ground.
"This, this is breakfast. Eat it."
After delivering his message, he pulled the dark-skinned man, preparing to go.
"Where, where are our children? Where have you taken them?"
Nanzhi hastily asked as they were leaving.
The dark man paused, turned and glanced at them again before he replied, "Don't worry, the three kids are fine, and so are your men. Now eat something."
