Chapter 4 : Vysu

My lessons with Darcio and Tyr went smoothly. They're the only two who're patient enough to teach me how to read. Yeomra said reading made him sleepy, and Morfeo seemed to be allergic to books.

He looked pale whenever he saw books. It was strange. Then again, Morfeo was a peculiar kid.

In the first week, Tyr taught me the Krya alphabet and numbers. Kyra was the official language of the Evren empire. When I saw Kyra's weird letters, I wanted to give up right then and there.

But it seemed that I was a genius.

I managed to memorize basic words and numbers in four days. Everyone was stunned, praising me for my brilliant brain.

Their praises motivated me, and I improved so quickly it freaked Darcio out. I'm smart enough to read and write notes on my own. Since no one knew I was an adult trapped in a baby's body, Darcio naturally brought me kids' storybooks about magics that won't help me whatsoever.

Noticing how bored I looked lately, Darcio secretly brought me an actual magic book for beginners.

And that happened two days ago. I've been isolating myself in the small room, attempting to finish reading the books. Based on what I learned, not everyone could awaken their magic—Vysu—which mean lake in Kyra.

It was flowing through the air like a running lake. But sometimes, it couldn't access the human body. I hope I can awaken my magic. It's my only chance to become helpful. So that I don't have to rely on Darcio, Tyr, Yeomfra, and Morfeo.

The book said all I had to do was to concentrate on my palm. Imagine emptiness, then imagine a wind circling the center of my palm, and then—

A whirl of water.

"!"

A tiny purple and white water-like substance was whirling on the top of my palm. A cluster of glow surfaced occasionally, startled me.

So this is vysu. Magic. I can use magic!

"Azy!"

"Gah?!"

Surprised, the magic spinning out of control and shoot toward Morfeo's way. Morfeo gasped loudly and dodged it by ducking his head.

"Woah, what was that?!" Morfeo widened his eyes, patting his hair to make sure his hair was okay.

I sputtered, staring at my palm in awe.

"I can use magic,"

"You what?!" Morfeo sounded bewildered. "That's incredible, Azy!"

This went very well! I awakened my vysu. Now I just need to gather as much vysu as possible; then maybe I could manipulate it into anything I want!

"This is so cool!" I exclaimed cheerfully, running past Morfeo and took a bee-line to Darcio, who's busy organizing the food supplies in the tiny kitchen counter.

"Darcy!" I hugged one of his legs, giggling merrily because I couldn't help myself. Witnessing real-life magic caused an eruption of euphoria surged through my limbs. Or maybe it was Lacus?

"What? What's going on?" Darcio blinked his eyes, then narrowed his eyes at Morfeo, who was trailing behind me. "Morfeo?"

"I didn't do anything!" Morfeo huffed loudly, puffing his cheeks.

"Look!" I tugged the Darcio's cargo pants to gain his attention again, showing him my palm and the teeny-tiny whirl of white and purple substance. Darcio's eyes widened.

He leaned closer to grab my tiny wrist, observing the vysu closer. His face hardened, then glanced at my way tentatively.

"Azriel. When did you learn how to do this?"

"Um," His reaction was not what I was expecting. I thought he'd react the same as Morfeo. "Just now?" I replied begrudgingly.

Darcio knelt in front of me, holding both of my hands. "Azriel. The average age to awaken is ten years old. When we're out of this place, you need to say that you're awakened when you're four. Understand?"

Wait a minute.

So I'm the only four-year-old in this world who awakened?

I'm a genius! Yay!

"Azriel," Darcio must've seen me struggling to keep my face neutral.

I ended up grinning. "Got it,"
