At the summit of Azabu Tower was the director's office.
It was an office brimming with luxury and wealth. Each of its furniture was made with the highest possible material. And the technology strapped into every nick and cranny was the best in the world.
Inside the director's office was Makima, writing a document through her laptop. It contained the secrets she had discovered from her newly established intelligence network.
Before her adorned wooden table were the prime executives of the Tengen Conglomerate, the keepers of the Azabu Tower.
The Tower executives had somber expressions as they felt nervous to be called by their Lady Makima. The executives thought they had done something wrong.
Fortunately, they weren't called to be reprimanded by their lady.
"Have you heard of the Meta Liberation Army?"
Amidst the silence, Makima spoke out with her soothing voice and gave her executives a question.
"Meta Liberation Army?"
"I have heard of it, but where?"
"Does Lady Makima mean the villain group?"
Various responses escaped the Tower Executives, but one managed to utter what Makima wanted to hear.
"Yes, you're right."
With Lady Makima's confirmation, the Tower executive, with some information regarding the subject, decided to inform the others.
"I see... I learned of the Meta Liberation Army from an old magazine published during the Era of Chaos."
"They were a dangerous villain group from that Era, especially with their problematic ideology."
"The leader of MLA, Destro, was said to rival the Symbol of Evil himself in infamy. Luckily, the Hero Public Safety Commission squashed the villain group and captured their leader."
"May I ask why Lady Makima is interested in a forgotten villain group?"
The Tower executive asked while deeply bowing toward Makima.
Makima squinted her eyes and muttered with an alluring tone.
"Forgotten, huh..."
She looked at the Tower executive with a hypnotic gaze and smiled at him. The Tower executive felt chills upon the formation of her smile. Did he make the lady angry?
"Apologies for the discourtesy, Lady Makima."
The Tower executive bowed deeper as cold sweat dripped from his forehead. He felt nervous since it felt like a scythe was hanging over his neck.
"No need to apologize. That is a good question, dog-kun."
"If you want to learn about my answer, take the papers from the printer and read them."
Makima gave them a beaming smile, which made the Tower executives terrified and delighted at the same time.
It makes one wonder if these men were masochists of some sort.
The Tower executives stood up from their comfy chairs and walked towards the printer, producing several copies of a significant and confidential file.
While the Tower executives were holding the file, Makima wanted to give them a little tease.
"You know..."
"The moment you look at the file. You will become an enemy of the state."
Upon hearing the words of their lady, the Tower executives froze and took a glimpse at the paper they held in their fingers.
"It contained secrets of major holders in the hero society."
"Some are interesting secrets while others are revolting ones."
Even though the Tower executives were unnerved about what they might face after seeing such secrets.
They wanted to prove their loyalty to their lady.
Quite ironic, especially when they were completely under her control.
There was no need to worry about such things as loyalty. But nonetheless, for Makima, it was a pleasing thought, which she appreciated.
The Tower executives began reading through the file and saw familiar names of various individuals. Whether it was entrepreneurs, politicians, and even heroes.
Their deepest secrets were recorded in a simple file.
"The secrets in the file must be used carefully."
"But I want you to read the last part of the file carefully."
An intrigued voice escaped Makima's red, supple lips.
Then, she continued writing more files about the things she knew. But only some of them will be released to her trusted Tower executives.
As the Tower executives read through the last part, they became flabbergasted. They couldn't believe what they were reading.
"Wha- How?"
"The Meta Liberation Army still operates in the darkness of the hero society, and it has been quietly growing since its fall."
"And to think such figures would be leading members of the MLA."
"This is problematic."
"Even the CEO of Detnerat Company is involved."
"They have gained a massive following of over a hundred thousand?"
"Such a secret society has a vast amount of control in the media and politics of this country."
The opinions and shock of the Tower executives bombarded the director's office.
Makima silently closed her eyelids, and when the Tower executives saw it, they immediately shut up. The executives knew their lady disliked noise the most, so they understood when to be careful.
"The tendrils of the Meta Liberation Army are extending throughout Japan."
"I want you to investigate their structure and perhaps join them to become my ears and eyes."
"Do you understand what I want?"
Makima's hypnotic gaze looked over the Tower executives, who froze when hearing her words.
A calm expression emerged on their faces as they quickly kneeled before their lady and responded.
"We will infiltrate the Meta Liberation Army, Lady Makima."
"We, the executives, will not fail you."
Their determination made Makima grin at them and reply.
"I hope not."
"You can take your leave."
"Make sure to not utter a single word spoken or discovered in this office."
"But Tengen-kun, I have a task for you, so stay behind."
Makima gazed at the old coot holding a cane amongst the Tower executives. The elder nodded while the others took their leave and didn't utter anything about the recent subject.
He was Tengen, the former owner and CEO of the Tengen Conglomerate before it was conquered by Makima.
Tengen was a talented businessman who had dozens of connections locally and internationally. Because of his thorough connections, he might be able to handle the Meta Liberation Army even without Makima.
"Does Lady Makima need something from an elder like me?"
He gave a sly smile, which was the usual personality of the old coot, so Makima was already accustomed to how he acted.
"I want you to assemble a meeting with the Prime Minister and his party."
"The meeting must be within three days."
"Can Tengen-kun handle it?"
Hearing the task given by his Lady Makima, Tengen elegantly bowed like a gentleman and accepted her orders without hesitation or delay.
"I, Tengen, will arrange a meeting with the Prime Minister and his fellow companions."
Afterward, Tengen left the director's office, and Makima became alone. Her soothing gaze wandered through the clear windows as she observed Tokyo.
It was a beautiful city, but monkeys who were villains planned to ruin its peace. Such a thing mustn't become true. Otherwise, who knows what might happen.
"With the formation of the contract, I will truly be immortal." "
"And the ruling class of the government will be under my control."
Makima couldn't help but smile in amusement since her plans were coming to fruition.
"A new division in the government will form after the meeting."
"The Counter Division."
"Its duty will be the elimination of problematic villains."
With this division, sooner or later, Japan will be truly hers from the bottom to the top.
