A reason to tease her

"You called us in early. Are we changing the schedule?" Kendra spoke as she walked into the study, a coffee cup pressed to her lips.

May looked up from her phone and took in the girls. Kendra had on pants with a jacket on top while Cassie wore a dress with a full face of makeup underneath the mask. No one would think she kicks ass with her ever so feminine getup.

"You look like shit", May grimaced at Cassie's haggard expression.

"Not now May", Cassie grumbled, fishing a pair of shades from her bag and throwing them on. The fatigue was evident in her eyes.

"She should be drinking that coffee", May threw an accusing gaze at Kendra.

"I offered! She said no!" Kendra cried out with a wronged expression.

"What's wrong with you?" Kareena frowned.

"Did you not get any sleep?" May asked curiously.

"My stomach feels funny. I think I ate something that doesn't agree with me", Cassie spoke, worsening the frown on Kareena's face. She quickly waved her hands, "No, I'm fine! That was yesterday, I'm really fine! I can easily take on five, no, ten people!"

Kareena cocked her head to the side, the hesitation in her eyes growing as she took a good look at gaunt looking Cassie. She was far from convinced despite her enthusiastic response. "Swap with Frankie."

"But I'm fine!"

Kareena slipped in an earpiece. "Frankie?"

"Boss?" The girl's tone was heavy, indicating her sleepiness.

"Swap with Cassie, she's sick. Kendra is already here."

"Roger. Wait, you guys came in early!" Frankie spoke, a shuffle and rustle being heard from her end.

"We did", Kendra replied. "Not the time we agreed on."

Kareena knew that was a complaint on Kendra's part. Kendra was one who wanted to be in the know on something she deserves to have knowledge on. Then, one wouldn't have a problem with her.

"May and I have a few errands to run", she explained.

"Oooooh how exciting", Kendra's expression lit up. "Have fun!"

"Oh I will", May smirked.

"Alright. Cassie, wait until Frankie gets here. You can't leave Kennie alone", Kareena ordered earning a nod from the said person in response.

The two friends left the room and beelined for the parking lot. May reclined her seat as soon as she secured her seatbelt. She gave a big loud yawn as Kareena pulled out of the parking lot.

"We do have errands to run", she murmured tiredly with her eyes closed.

"Huh?" Kareena glanced at her then back on the path leading to the gates.

"No, I'm saying we have errands but it's not why you asked them to come early", May turned on her side and opened her eyes to look at Kareena's side profile. "You're avoiding him, you've been doing that since last night when he ditched the dinner."

Kareena sighed. She still had not had a moment to think about her situation with Yves. She was not one to act without properly considering all facts and opinions. Which is why she feigned busy when he wanted to talk after dinner.

"He's right you know. He's not our client, his father is", May continued but still didn't get a response. "What are you going to do?"

"....I don't know", she replied, running a hand through her hair.

"How do you feel about him?"

Kareena moved her gaze to her and honestly answered, "I don't know."

"You're serious?" May sat up in shock earning a nod from Kareena. She furrowed her brows, falling into thought whilst glancing at Kareena from time to time. Her brain finally found a plausible suggestion. "Talk to him." Kareena's mouth fell open. "Yeah, talk to him."

"You said it yourself, I'm avoiding him. That means I don't plan on talking to him", Kareena pointed out.

"Well how will you know if you don't talk to him?"

"I can't!"

"Why not?"

"I can't...", She stole a glance at her, wincing to what she was about to confess. She gritted, "I can't think straight when I'm around him."

It was May's turn to drop her jaw. Kareena uneasily bit the inside of her bottom lip. She really could not trust herself especially her body around him. She would be saying one thing and it would be doing another. It's why she avoided him the day before. Who knew what would have happened in that bedroom of his?

"Pwa ha ha ha!!" May threw herself in the seat in laughter.

Kareena grimaced at the amused May. She had practically given her a reason to tease her all the way home. She really dug a hole for herself.

When they arrived home, the girls walked in the pleasant aroma of eggs and bacon frying. May practically run towards the kitchen like a salivating dog.

"You're the best!" May hooked an arm around Asher and choked him.

"Let go", he wheezed, tapping her arm to release him when she ruffled his hair. "Ugh, I'm not a kid anymore."

"Let's talk again when you've actually slept with a woman", she released him.

"Something is wrong with you", he shook his head.

"You're up early", Kareena spoke as she attended to her dog that came to greet her.

"Yeah, I thought you guys would be hungry", he replied, both May and Kareena giving him skeptical looks. He shook his head, "What's your plan today? We couldn't do the tradition last night since you were out. What time do we do it?"

"Uh.... May and I have to go out. I'm not sure what time we'll be back."

"Huh. But I need to go back to school today."

Kareena wore an apologetic expression. "I guess we'll watch Transformers next time. I'm sorry buddy."

"All good", he shrugged, smiling at his sister.

"Did you take him for a run?" She looked at the dog beside her.

"Yeah. He actually woke me up."

"Ah..." Kareena and May spoke in unison as though saying that made more sense.

The girls left to freshen before joining him for breakfast. The two retired to their rooms, agreeing to wake up four hours later. They passed out as soon as their heads hit the pillow.

But thirty minutes before the alarm went off, Kareena was wide awake and proceeded to make lunch instead. She heard Asher screaming at someone as he played a game in his room. Boys.

The three shared a hearty meal over light conversation. They left Asher to clean up before they set out for the road.

"I have to warn you, this place we're going is not exactly 'a friendly' neighborhood", May warned. "Stay alert."
