Chapter 2

Omashu had a massive market area in the southwest part of the city. Stalls filled the streets, and common people continuously poured in, as it was daytime after all. Guards regularly patrolled like modern-day police.

Kizer and Bumi were walking through the street with apples in their hands, biting them as they walked. After their first meeting, they learned that neither of them had a family, so they chose to stick together since they were in the same situation.

"Pity that Aang already left." Bumi takes a large bite of the apple.

Kizer continued to observe the streets and memorize the path they took. After all, he was still new to this city.

"... We're here!"

They stopped in front of a crowd. There was a guy in front of the crowd moving three cups rapidly. He then stopped, and people started putting copper coins in the right cup.

"It was on the left side."

Bumi grinned as he looked at Kizer. "Kekeke, that guy was cheating. I'm surprised you caught it."

"How do you plan to beat it?" Kizer gaze at Bumi, knowing why they're here.

"Do you know this?" Bumi lightly stomped on the ground. Small rocks suddenly floated in mid-air before falling. Bumi caught a small rock and showed it to Kizer.

"Earthbending..."

Kizer wasn't surprised that Bumi could Earthbend, but he was impressed by his mastery over it.

"Keke, you're right."

Once the crowd began to leave, Bumi and Kizer approached the table.

"What are you two brats doing here? Shoo."

Bumi didn't mind the man's attitude. He smiled and threw three copper coins on the table. "Are you saying something?"

The owner smirked. "Don't cry when you lose your money."

The game started with the owner placing a small rock under the middle cup. He then moved the cups rapidly to confuse them. In a split second, the owner flipped open the cup with the rock and tried to hide it in his long sleeve. But it magically came back. Only Bumi and Kizer noticed.

"Now choose."

Bumi placed the copper coins on the middle cup.

The owner smirked before opening it. To his surprise, the rock was actually there. "Wha—"

"Now, now, where is our money?" Bumi, now smirking, asked.

The owner doubled the money, turning the three copper coins into six. Bumi grabbed the coins and placed them on the table again.

The owner smirked again, placed the rock under the middle cup, and started moving the cups.

"Leave! You bastards!"

Kizer and Bumi left the table, grabbing their earnings. Each had a small pouch filled with copper coins—48 coins in each pouch, to be exact.

As they were walking, Kizer suddenly stomped on the ground, making small rocks float for a few seconds. Kizer grabbed one of them and slightly threw it toward the owner. It traveled directly to the owner's forehead and hit him. The owner passed out from the impact.

"Why did you do that?" Bumi frowned.

"He deserved it."

"Keke, you're right. Let's find a restaurant and eat! Let's fill our stomachs today!"

I looked at Bumi's back as he walked happily. He was really an unpredictable kid, but not someone I considered a threat. His mastery over Earthbending in such a young age was something many would find terrifying. Though it was inferior to Toph's when she was a child, it was still at a genius level, at least in my view.

But all the genius things Toph and Bumi did were outclassed by what I achieved today. I had just learned Earthbending by watching Bumi—how his feet and hands moved and touched the ground. My knowledge of the series also helped me instantly perform Earthbending.

Now that I know how to do it, it's only a matter of time before I master it.

Bumi didn't ask why I knew how to Earthbend, probably because I hadn't questioned him either.

"We're here!"

We stopped in front of an ancient-looking restaurant. It wasn't properly maintained, causing cracks on the walls, but a decent number of people still went in and out.

We entered the restaurant and found a table to sit at. A beautiful waitress approached us and took our order. The menu was simple and small, containing meat and vegetables.

After taking our orders, the waitress left.

Then a group of bony guys came up in front of our table with sinister grins on their faces.

"Looks like you two have some money. Pickpocketing is not good and will get you arrested. Now give me all the money before we call the guards." He extended his arm toward the pouch.

Ignoring the pests, I looked directly into Bumi's eyes, who was grinning non-stop. "I want to take over this city when the time comes. Will you join me and rule this city with me?"

Bumi seemed surprised but then started laughing. "Kekeke, I knew you were crazier than me."

"What are you brats talking about? Taking over the city? You can do that after you give m—"

I didn't let him continue his insignificant blabbering. I punched his stomach with great force, making him splatter saliva on the table.

"Tsk, tsk. Disgusting, truly disgusting." I then jumped up and delivered a spinning kick, hitting his face directly. His brain couldn't process what had happened, and he passed out.

I stomped on his head and looked at the other guys. They were surprised, it was evident on their faces. Without letting them recover, I jumped toward them using the first guy's body and kicked one of them directly.

One of the things I discovered after drinking the Essence of Immortality was that my strength had increased significantly. So when my attacks hit them, it wasn't like a child's attack.

Bumi also started to attack, though he controlled his strength to avoid seriously hurting them. It was expected, as he was on the good side in the series, but I plan to change his thought process over the years while he was with me.

It didn't take long for us to beat all the thugs, they were lying on the floor unconscious. Some of them were bleeding, while others had just passed out.

I looked at Bumi, he didn't take any damage even though we fought guys bigger than us. I also remained unharmed, being a martial arts master back in the modern world. I could easily recall all the moves from my past life and use them here. These thugs were only acting on instinct, so it was easy for us to beat them.

"Oh, there's our order!" Bumi ran toward the waitress who was just standing there with dumbfounded expression. Bumi started eating the food while it was still in her hands.

"You don't want to eat?" Bumi asked, looking back at me while eating.

"I don't need it."

My immortality kept my body in perfect condition all the time. Mortal needs such as food were unnecessary for immortals like me.

We left the restaurant after Bumi paid for the food.
