The group descended the stairs, their footsteps echoing in the stillness. The darkness closed in around them, but the faint glow of the Codex provided a guiding light. The air grew heavier, charged with a palpable sense of power.
At the bottom of the stairs, they found themselves in a vast underground chamber. The walls were adorned with ancient symbols, and at the center of the chamber stood a massive stone altar, covered in dark runes.
"This must be where the Void Sect was performing their rituals," Wei Lin said, her voice reverberating through the chamber. "We need to be on guard."
As they approached the altar, a deep, resonant hum filled the chamber. The runes on the altar began to glow with a sinister light, and the temperature dropped sharply. A dark mist began to swirl around them, and the air crackled with malevolent energy.
