Chapter 9: MeteorFire

(Starting from now on, I'll be changing my writing style to the third perspective to 1st)

(Lucius' Pov)

I was walking down the road, heading in the direction where my apartment was located.

I currently don't have even a single penny in me so I can't ride a bus if it even exists.

Not like I was complaining.

A leisure stroll was something I need especially now that I'm in the same but completely different world.

Anyway, as I was walking, I couldn't help but recall the conversation I and the YG Corp CEO had.

Even though was a major character, Gregory Trinidad had an almost non-existent role in the story as I recall introducing him in chapter 45 and then completely forgetting him.

If now for my photogenic memory, I might not even remember him.

The thing that puzzles me the most is that YG Corp just offered me their one hundred percent support.

That alone was already suspicious and I'm sure that something wasn't right but my instinct was telling otherwise.

This was also not written in the story which was my main concern.

The butterfly effect was what I fear the most because it makes my future knowledge worthless.

I can't change the plot, not until I'm strong enough to fight the future catastrophes to come.

Tons of questions emerge in my head that would be left unanswered for now.

Talking about the butterfly effect, I need to make sure that nothing had changed as I couldn't help but shiver just thinking about the possibilities of some important characters having a different persona.

Imagine Eligor who instead of being a person with a hero complex, suddenly became a madman who would kill anyone who block his path.

That thought alone scared the shit out of me and spark a hazy fire of determination to get stronger.

Only by becoming stronger would I will be assured about the future of this world.

As soon as I got transmigrated here, this already became my second world and I was responsible to protect it.

Strength.

Strength is the most important thing in this world, with enough strength, money and fame would soon follow.

With such thought, I head to my apartment with pure determination to improve and get stronger.

I only have 4 more days to get ready.

As I plan to compete against the mc for the no.1 spot, I need to use all the time I have to its maximum potential.

After a 20 minute walk, I had finally got back inside my apartment as I tiredly sat down on the couch.

Walking to the mall, running away from Lance, and heading back home.

No matter how fit I am, I'm not a robot and could still feel tired, especially since a bunch of stuff happened today.

While resting, I decided to stalk Gregory a little bit due to curiosity.

Opening my projectile, I search for any information about him.

Fortunately, his fame could overtop that of a celebrity as I find a bunch of articles about his personal information such as age, name, family, etc.

Clicking the very first website, I earnestly read every information written even though one of these had any use for me whatsoever.

Gregory Trinidad, a 58 years old entrepreneur and the current head of the Trinidad Family, which was currently the strongest out of three big families located in the Philippines.

He was also the CEO of the business empire YG Corp, which was the company that created and owned the 'VR world', also named the 'second world'.

Gregory's love life was non-existent as he currently has no wife and child.

After done reading the article, I couldn't help but be impressed by just how realistic the novel I wrote had been.

I'm already aware that this world is real but still.

Gregory having a backstory was also a relief to me since this means that the world in my novel is this world and not the other way around.

(This technically means that the "TROL" was a prophecy of this world and not that this world was exactly the "TROL" because those that don't have any background suddenly have one.)

I also read 3 other more articles before calling it a day as almost all of the information written in the articles was identical.

Checking the time in the top left corner of my projectile, I notice that it was still 5:46 pm so I decided to train in the VR world until tomorrow morning.

Playing inside the VR world was equivalent to sleeping so I wasn't afraid of waking up with zero productivity.

Learning from my mistakes, I lay down in the bed first before wearing my VR helmet.

Gathering the very little courage I have left in me, I whispered as quiet as possible;

"Link start.."

I swear if I ever find out whoever design this device mechanism, I'll skin him alive!

After experiencing another cringe moment of my life, I once again found myself in the VR Lobby where players would choose the game they like to play.

Since it's already my second time coming here, I wasn't as amazed as before, at least I no longer look like a primitive human who suddenly interacts with technology.

As I was much more knowledgeable compared to me yesterday, instead of manually searching for the game I was looking for, I opened my projectile which was miraculously still accessible here.

I went to the game category search bar as I type the game I was looking for.

Because of the sudden change of plans about the gift code, learning boxing won't be advantageous for me since the code that I used was for a mid-range role.

On the search bar, I went toward the firearms games as I found the perfect game for me.

It a game identical to PUBG in my past world, the game was was about a battle royal of 50 players and the very last one that survive wins.

After deciding on the game, I directly entered the game.

My surrounding changed as I found myself inside a barrack and standing in front of me was a man in his 40s wearing a soldier uniform.

I instantly knew that this is the tutorial move which was quickly proven right as he instructs on how to reload a gun, how to aim, etc.

The tutorial only took about 45 minutes which wasn't hard, especially with my 2 talents working together, namely, combat prodigy and photogenic memory.

And since I was getting itchy for some fight, I immediately queue myself in a normal game as soon as I was allowed to.

The queue didn't even take a minute as I instantly found myself inside a military aircraft with a parachute attached to my back.

It really was just like the PUBG in my world but compared to playing on the computer, in my opinion, playing in VR was much more interesting.

Fortunately, the instructor also taught us how to parachute and because the mechanics were basic, I didn't have a hard time landing.

Checking the map, I found myself in the outskirts of Monopolo Town, a town in the game.

Already knowing how the game works, I went into a wooden house and luckily found a gun laying in the middle of the floor.

As I picked up the gun, which was named K2 according to the interface on top of it, I head to the other rooms and found a box named 5.56mm which I guess was the ammo of the gun I was currently holding

But because the gun's magazine was currently full, I couldn't test it out so I decided to head outside.

As soon as I exited the door, I caught a glimpse of a silhouette entering the house in front of the house I just raided.

I carefully follow him and he doesn't seem to notice me.

After he entered my fire range, I quickly send a barrage of ammo toward him.

Using my ITP and with the help of combat prodigy, 80% of the ammo I fired hit him.

His body disintegrate as he died without even seeing who killed him.

In that one-sided fight, I used a total of 14 bullets and my gun current magazine was now 38/52.

I didn't let my first victory get into my head as I know that he was just a newbie or else it won't be as easy.

Not wanting to waste any more time, I looted the box that was left after he disappear and continue looting the houses in Monopolo town.

He had also encountered 4 more enemies which he swiftly killed due to their inexperience.

He was already suited up with a level 4 armour and two rare guns.

Seeing that there was no longer any interesting things in Monopolo town, I decide to move and head to Wilton City which was the largest place in the game.

Staring at the interface in front of me, not even a shed of joy could be seen in my face.

The game lasted for 28 minutes and with a 23 kill count, I win and was the only survivor.

The game was extremely boring even for a noob like me because the other player was even noober than me.

Fortunately, it all didn't go to waste as I levelled up and was now level 2.

Note, only by reaching level 5 would the rank mode would be accessible so I unwillingly queue once again.
