Chapter 4: Realization/VR world

Memories from last night entered Lucius' mind as he slowly remember what happened last night.

'That's right, as soon as I finish answering the survey, I fall asleep!'

Lucius thought as some guesses emerge in his mind.

'Did I got reincarnated?'

But Lucius quickly rejected that guess as Reincarnation is something humans couldn't comprehend.

It's too good to be true.

Even though he rejected the idea of reincarnation, he didn't deem it impossible so he thought of a way to find evidence if he really did get reincarnated.

What was the fastest way to find evidence?

Lucius quickly search 'Rebirth' in his hologram and sure enough, something popped up.

Lucius was shocked seeing so many articles about Mendala as he click the very first site.

This was the official site of 'Mendala' and X Corp was the company that was supposedly created the game.

Lucius as the author of the story knew that was not the case but he didn't dwell about it anymore and browse the site.

Fatty who was sitting beside Lucius notices that he was reading something as he took a peek and notice it was Rebirth!

"Are you looking at Rebirth? I thought you had no interest in Video Games." Fatty spoke right beside Lucius startling the man who was caught off guard.

"Wah!" Lucius was so surprised that a scream escape his mouth.

"AHHAHAHAHA" Fatty laughed at his friend's reaction.

"the hell man" Lucius annoyingly said as his face has a hint of red tint due to embarrassment.

"Hahaha, you should see your reaction man." Fatty didn't stop laughing and even has some balls to tease Lucius.

"Whatever." Lucius coldly said but a hint of embarrassment could be heard in his voice.

He continued browsing the official website from the introduction to the description.

"Hey! you're really interested in Rebirth?" Fatty also remembers the reason why he interrupts Lucius as he asks again.

"Yeah, why?"

As soon as Lucius asked, Fatty smirked as his chest straighten seemingly confident.

"Hmph! I'm one of the most knowledgeable people you could find about Rebirth! And since your my friend, you could ask me anything!" Fatty proudly stated as he seems proud that rather than studying and getting good grades, he would rather waste time memorizing some worthless information about a single game.

Lucius sigh and shook his head due to the disappointment for his friend.

But since Rebirth was the topic, Lucius didn't think this information was useless, After all, having knowledge in the game would give you some advantages.

"Ok then, tell me anything you know." Lucius said as he focus himself to listen carefully.

"Eh?! Anything?!" Fatty surprisingly asked but Lucius was staring at him with a serious look so he reconcile and explain everything he knew.

Lucius listen carefully to every word that escapes Fatty's mouth which didn't smell since Fatty was a conservative man.

Lucius finally gather some basic information and it was just the same as what he had written.

The game of Rebirth took place in Galangane, A world that was separated into 4 continents;

The most famous and prosperous, Reatia, a continent separated into different parts by different races.

Phoenice, A desert wasteland filled with different mindless monsters who were controlled by their instinct.

Nandaral, An ice-filled continent where the weather was only winter, some monster with ice energy lives here.

Guruthm, Also known as the netherworld, it's a world dominated by demons which was the number one enemy of all intelligent races.

"What's with the sudden interest in Video games? do you want to try one?" Fatty asked after seeing Lucius was done sorting the information he taught.

"How?" Lucius simply asked and he wanted to say that his laptop was nowhere to be found but decided to remain silent not to act like an idiot since he wasn't sure if laptop even exist in this world.

"With this!"

Fatty clicks something in his hologram as two helmets with futuristic design materialize in front of him.

Fatty quickly caught the helmets before they fall to the floor while Lucius was shocked as his jaw dropped.

Nonetheless, Lucius decided not to ask to not make Fatty suspicious.

Fatty passed one of the helmets to Lucius as they wore it at the same time.

At first, Lucius couldn't see anything but he felt Fatty clicking something in his helmet as it opened.

Lucius was amazed as he felt that the Vr Helmet was taking him into a different dimension.

After the helmet was done loading, Lucius find himself in a blue dimension but that was the last thing that caught his eyes.

"Woah!" Lucius exclaimed looking at his arm.

His skin not only in his arm but the whole body was completely colored blue and his hair was gone!

Lucius also saw some other people that look just like him as they entered in some kind of door with different posters attached in front of it.

He suddenly felt someone tapping his shoulder from behind as his body reacted on its own!

Lucius held the man/woman arms with both of his hands, and threw it onto the ground!

Lucius has watched countless people perform this move so his body unconsciously acted.

"Argh!!" The person who tapped Lucius' shoulder exclaimed while holding his painful back.

Because of their virtual body, Lucius couldn't identify the person's identity so he remained vigilant as he raise his guard.

"What's your problem dude?!" A man's voice escapes the laying man's mouth, Lucius immediately reacted and helped the person as he recognized the voice.

It is Fatty but because this is the virtual world, he is just about the same same as Lucius.

"Does it hurts?" Lucius asked with a hint of amazement in his voice.

"What do you think?!" Fatty annoyingly retorted as his back still hurts.

"Really?!" Lucius' eyes glint as he punches Fatty's shoulder.

"Aw! Stop it, dude!" Fatty shouted while rubbing his shoulder which turn red.

"So it really hurts!" Lucius clap his hands with an 'I knew it' look which greatly annoyed Fatty.

"Whatever, let's just go play some games." Fatty was getting irritated as he dragged into various doors and recommend some games.

The two first arrived at the Racer Vr game where Fatty bragged about him being one of the Rankers in this game.

Lucius on the other hand had zero interest in driving so he immediately went to other games.

Lucius saw many different types of games varies from strategical to the simulator and a bunch more different genres and some pique his interest.

But only one thing Lucius decided to play.

Fatty soon catch up to his friend who was standing still, staring into a door.

"Hah...hah you want to play that?" Fatty asked while pointing at the door Lucius was staring at.

"Yeah." Lucius gave a short reply but that was enough as he walks closer to the door.

In the door a poster could be seen, it has two people in it punching each other with the word 'Boxing' at the bottom.

Yes, Lucius decided to play Boxing but partially because this is the very first fighting game he found.

"Hey, are you sure? I never thought you had an interest in boxing." Fatty tried to stop Lucius as he know he has zero knowledge of it.

Lucius on the other hand didn't reply and went straight inside.

On the inside, was an empty room with a floating projectile in the middle.

Lucius went closer to the projectile and read what was written on it.

Lucius might be new to video games but he isn't a fool, he knew what each of the inferences was for.

He clicks Tutorial because he has zero knowledge about boxing whatsoever.

As soon as Lucius clicks the Tutorial button, the surrounding changes and Lucius found himself inside a Boxing Gym.

A moderately old man around his 70s or 80s and with his skin and face structure, Lucius guess that the man was a western person.

"What are you standing their boy?! get your ass up here and train!" The old man said with a harsh tone, Lucius was one hundred percent sure this old man was just forced into this job.

Nonetheless, Lucius complies and obediently walks closer to the grumpy NPC.

Lucius also notices that his skin is no longer blue but was back to what it was in real life, Light Brown.

He was also wearing training trunks which was a good thing since Lucius wouldn't have a hard time training.

Even though the old man was grumpy, he was still quite a good teacher as he taught Lucius all the basic boxing knowledge he could, and with Lucius' Extraordinary talent in Combat, he learn at tremendous speed.

The two start with basic punches from Jab to Hook then went straight to combos.

Lucius surprisingly enjoyed his timed training and even though he still hasn't reached the adept stage, he was now much better than a normal person.

The two continue training as Lucius started to treat the grumpy old man as a real person and not just an NPC.

There are even times when Lucius started to question if the old man was really just an NPC noticing that he was smiling every time he improve.

Lucius just didn't bother minding as he just enjoyed the training as he enjoyed not the practice itself but the feeling of improving.
