Elvis' Pov
Flashback
"I will take some of our forces down to Hargrove" Azriel said to me while we were drinking a beer together on a peaceful evening.
"Why?"
"The people over there are suffering because of the vampires from Venron."
"Still, that's not our territory, going there might cause conflict with other kingdoms, besides I don't think the others will let you go."
"I don't care about what anyone says or do, those people need help" Azriel sips the beer, "and I am going to give it to them."
"When are we leaving?
"Tomorrow, although if you want to stay behind it is okay, I will not fault you in any way."
"Azriel, I am going to fight and die alongside you."
We left the next day for Hargrove with five thousand Werewolves from the pack, it was a day journey even though we moved with top speed. With no warning we stormed into Hargrove, the vampires had no chance to defend themselves because we caught them by surprise. The pack razed through the town, annihilating every single vampire we find. The last vampire I fought was trying to escape the village by boat through a river that leads to Venron, we sniffed him out, me and my buddy Will. Will pounced on him first and the two fell into the stream and started fighting in the water, a glow from a sack bag in the boat drew my attention away from the fight.
I walked to the boat, opened the bag and took out a purple orb from it with both hands, the orb was warm and soothing to touch and look at.
"This one was too weak," Will said as he pulled the bloodied vampire out of the water, "What's that?" he looked as surprised as me while looking at the orb.
"I don't know, is he still alive?"
"Barely…" Will said as he dropped the vampire on the floor.
I walked to where they were with the orb, then I knelt with one knee in front of the vampire. "What is this?" I said while gesturing to the orb. The vampire moved his mouth and then spat bloodied spit on my face.
" Okay…"I wiped the saliva off my face with my palm," Okay, If you tell me what this is, we will let you live."
"What are you talking about?" Will turned to me confused.
"You… think I will trust a werewolf?" The vampire laughed, "Just kill me."
"Right now the only option you have is trusting in me, and you have just five seconds to tell me what it is."
"Five."
"Four"
"Three."
"Two."
"One."
"Ze…"
"Alright, I will tell you what it is, don't kill me!" The vampire slowly sits down on his butt, "It is called the vampire's bane, if vampires are exposed to that orb, they will lose all their power."
My eyes widened in surprise, I took another look at the orb, then back at the vampire. "This orb takes away all your powers? Permanently?"
"No, not permanently, it is temporal, as long as we are exposed to the orb we become powerless, but when the orb is removed we regain our power."
Me and Will stood stunned, we exchanged glaces a few times.
"Can we speak for a bit over there?" Will said as he walked some distance away from the vampire, I joined him.
"Do you believe what he said?" Will said, almost in a whisper.
"I don't think he has any reason to lie right now,"
"When I fought with him earlier, he was too weak for a vampire, that's why I beat him easily. So I think he is telling us the truth." Will let out a smirk, "With something like this in our possession, the vampires will not stand a chance against us."
"If what he says is the truth, I think the vampires will do everything in their power to take this from back from us, we might see a war soon."
"'True… let's just kill the vamp and take the orb back to Azriel, he will decide our next course of action." Will turned and started walking towards the vampire, he shot out claws from his fingers, lifted his arm into the air, then he slashed the claws at the vampire. But before the claws made contact, I dug my hand into Will's chest from behind and pulled out his heart. Will fell to the ground as I squashed his heart, blood flooded out of the hole in his back.
"What. Why did you do that?" The vampire asked, terrified.
"I told you that I will let you live," I grabbed him by the arm and helped him up to his feet, he just stared at me, to stunned to speak.
"Why?" the vampire asked me again.
"Let's just say I have a score to settle with an old friend, now I want you to go back to Venron and gather an army of vampires then come back for this orb, I will be waiting for you."
The vampire staggered back to the boat and paddled away, first I threw Will's dead body into the river then I dug a hole in that river bank and buried the orb inside it.
I met the vampire at that river bank two years later, he looked healthier and more majestic.
"We meet again," Was the first words he said on seeing me.
"Yes, are you ready to attack this town?" I had no time to beat around the bush.
"I did gather vampires for the attack, but before we make any move, you have to tell me what your hope to gain from this."
"What I want is simple, defeat the moongrass pack, and kill their leader Azriel then I will give the orb back to you."
"You see, that's the problem, I find it hard to trust someone that will easily betray his people."
"I let you live didn't I? Now, how many vampires have you gathered and when do you plan on attacking the town?
"I have about one thousand five hundred vampires with me, and we plan on attacking tomorrow."
"That is not enough, we still outnumber you."
"That was all I could get."
If they fight against us right now, we will completely slaughter them because we had at least three thousand werewolves still in the town. I had to find a way to reduce that number.
"Alright, this is what I want you to do, I want you to attack us through the land, the exact same route we used to attack you. But don't be hasty, approach slowly and take your time. I want you to get to the town in two weeks time."
"Okay, but what is your plan?"
"My plan is hundred percent victory. Watch out for the stripped werewolf"
I went back to Azriel later at night to give him the report personally, he was making out with Rachel as I entered his chambers in the castle.
"Hey Elvis," Rachel said to me with a smile the moment she laid her eyes on me.
"Hey, how are you?"
"I am fantastic, you should really find a girlfriend so you don't disturb us" Rachel giggled, I looked away, the smile reminded me of my love for her.
"What brings you here?" Azriel asked.
"There is something I must tell you, in private." Rachel glanced at me confused, "Hope there is no problem."
"No, no problem, it's just something between me and Azriel."
"Okay then, I will leave you boys to it." Rachel walked out of the room.
"What is it?" Azriel asked.
"The vampires are going to attack the town," I heard my voice bounce off the wall creating an echo.
"What do you mean?"
"I saw an army of vampires east of the town, and it is not looking good at all."
"How many vampires did you see?"
"There was fifty thousand of them."
"Fifty thousand?!" Azriel gasped, "That's not possible"
"I swear, I barely escaped unnoticed,"
"I have to go see this myself."
"If you leave the town suddenly people will sense that there is a problem, instead send out two people from the pack to go and confirm what I have just said."
"You can leave now,"
I walked out of the room with a smile on my face. Azriel did send out two werewolves to confirm, when they returned, I was called in to the meeting room.
"What we saw were about one thousand vampires," one of the scouts said while the other nodded in agreement.
"That must be a part of the force, there number was definitely fifty thousand."
The two opposing reports was debated for hours, eventually they believed my words because I was the person that found out about the attack in the first place. Slowly I started spreading the rumor by telling the other members of the pack, this caused fear and panic so people started to desert the pack. That was not enough, the pack still trusted Azriel so many still stuck by him, I had to cause a commotion that will make the people in the pack hate him.
The moment I helped him kill the commanders and elders of the pack, it was all over for him because I secretly told members of the pack that he killed the commanders because they wanted to protect their families, the people started to hate him and they started deserting the pack in thousands. And on the day of the battle, there was just 300 werewolves left in the pack.
I smiled as I watched the vampires charge towards us, because I knew this will be a total annihilation of Azriel and the pack.
