Dominique's POV
Damn that man, I thought to myself, how had he managed to become so important to me in such a short period of time? A month ago, I was desperate to escape this place. Now I was mooning around like a lovestruck teenager. And as far as I could tell, he wasn't even interested anymore!
It was a crisp, clear autumn morning, and I decided to take a walk around the grounds before the sun came up. It was something that I had done in my old life, and I had resumed it recently, hoping it would help me to think. So far, not much was coming to me other than how annoyed I was at myself for caring about someone who couldn't, or wouldn't, feel the same about me. That's when I heard a voice coming from the stables.
"You're a good girl, aren't you," a male voice said affectionately, "Yes, you are. Such a pretty girl!"
