Subsequent Fall Part 14.5: Idol

"You two think you can get away that easily?" Diddler slammed four cards on the ground as they were in order.

"No, we just wanted an area where we could be undisturbed." James pulled out his spear as his claw's glowed with a white hue to them.

"We gotta kill you quickly to help out the other two." Angel cracked her knuckles as she ignited her spear. Diddler started to laugh.

"Oh the gods will be pissed I couldn't take on Astral, but should be happy with the two of you's heads. Seeing as how you two shouldn't be alive." Diddler laughed as the twins looked confused.

"Oh, do you not get it?" That flash of light that saved you wasn't Astral as much as he wishes it was." Diddler was laughing as they grew worried. "Your planet got pulled to a separate galaxy in this cycle. Only the gods could do that. I can't wait to make you suffer for a sin." Diddler started laughing hysterically.

"The best part is! Oops, I almost spilled a little too much inform-" Diddler was cut off as James punched him in the jaw, sending him into a building. Being stopped by its wall. "I see. No more nice guy." He threw thirteen cards at the two of them, the full suit of clubs as they landed, wooden clubs rained from the sky as Angel and James evaded them.

Angel was able to close the gap as she swung her spear upward as Diddler swung his scythe downward and blocked the attack. The butt end of Angel's spear pointed towards Diddler as she pressed the trigger. Knocking him backwards as James slashed his cape off.

Diddler snapped as where the cards landed, hands picked up the giant clubs as they whacked Angel and James each blocking with their spears as Diddler sprinted past and sliced at each of their sides.

James threw his claws from his gloves and was able to block the attack for both of them as Angel soared into the sky to be met by an invisible barrier. "Child, my magic is from the gods, you won't break it ever." Diddler laughed as it clicked for them, he borrowed power from the gods from the beginning. That's why he knew so much.

James closed the gap as all his stacks were in speed as he was blindly slashing at Diddler who was able to keep up with the attacks and block them while having the upper hand. James dove in for an attack as the scythe blade was behind his neck.

Angel threw her spear directly into the ground next to the two of them stopping the scythe as James got a good slash on his chest as he swung around the spear and drop kicked James in the chest, pushing him back. "Shrink the barrier." Diddler commanded as Angel slammed into the ground.

"Lets see if fate is by your side this one time." Diddler showed them his last card. "This is a joker, if I play it. There is a good chance you will be facing me and my god." Diddler laid it on the ground as the avatar of the jester appeared behind him. "Luck's on your side. Just the avatar of him is here."

James stiffened up. This is their greatest trial yet, and they weren't going to get bailed out by anyone but themselves. "Angel, catch." He threw her spear back to her. He spread his stacks out evenly as a giant scythe came down to attack both of them. James smacked the blade with his spear as Diddler came from behind and slashed a shallow cut into his back as Angel made him move the rest of the way.

"You focus on defending us, we kill him, we end the god puppet." Angel understood the idea of this as it slashed at the same time as Diddler. James stabbed his spear into the scythes blade as Diddler charged at the opening. Angel hopped up and sent the scythe into the ground above James as he blocked the flurry of attacks from Diddler. Letting himself get slashed lightly.

"Even if I die, my body will let the puppet exist." Diddler slashed downwards as Angel and James jumped away from the area of impact. James at this point began to supercharge as his brown hair turned darker.

"So I will just kill both of you fuckers at the same time." James surprised both Diddler and Angel as he was point blank in his chest, launching several bone breaking punches into his ribs as the giant scythe pulled back Diddler. The jester giggling in the background bobbing back and forth.

James started breathing heavily. "Change of plan, I take him, you take the clumsy bitch."

"Aren't they both pretty clumsy?" Angel twirled her spear as the jester swung down to slice her open, she blocked it and soared upward as James charged Diddler. Who became more erratic due to the circumstances. His scythe patterns coiled around his body as James outsped the arena's effects.

James' claws started to drain from him faster as they were able to block the scythe and add a reverb to the weapon. Making it harder to hold as James sliced the left side of Diddler's face with his claws. Diddler finally had him where he wanted as he pulled the scythe up from behind his feet. Slicing both achilles tendons. James collapsed as Diddler swiped downward with his scythe.

Angel was flying around the arena as the jester couldn't tag her no matter how hard it tried. The giant scythe in the air was hovering around as it couldn't get near Angel. She dived down swooping past the two men fighting and flew upwards point blank at the jester as she sliced upwards, ripping the avatar and the arena in two with all of her stacks in strength.

James used all of his stacks in speed as he swung his lower half into Diddler's legs, knocking him off balance as James hopped back up as he could hardly stand. Diddler got back up as he looked over. "You idolize someone who forgot about you?" A spear from behind him entered his spleen as James slashed his arm with his spear.

"He left us with hope." James gingerly walked over with stiff legs and transferred all his stacks to strength as he sent his hand downward through his skull as it turned into mist. The box around them faded back into the sky as they both took a breath of relief.

"That was difficult."

"Astral made it look so easy in the tournament. His ability must've been better for him here." Angel looked as the cards faded and James fell. Angel kneeled next to her brother.

"Go on without me, I won't make it." James acted dramatically as Angel heaved him into her arms as the two slowly walked back to the city.
