Max's subconscious shook with each blow they traded. The shockwaves caused the water to recede, revealing the floor underneath.
But none of that mattered for the two individuals currently fighting like their lives depended on it.
Kitsune looked crazy and Max looked pretty pissed.
With each blow, he could tell that even as this was his subconscious, Kitsune was overpowering him.
That sense of weakness, when faced against the person that screwed up his life, caused him to feel even more anger.
He roared inwardly to boost himself but this was just like the last embers before the flame died out. He could tell that he was nearing his limit.
His main body was already weak, he couldn't afford to push his subconscious as well.
Thus, he concluded. "I have to finish this now."
Of course, what he meant was finishing the battle with Kitsune.
To get rid of her, he would have to face her in the Nine Pillar Hall, a place he was sure he would lose if he went in his current state.
