Meanwhile, as the words of Ginjo's impassioned speech echoed off the scene, the crowd fell into a short stunned silence. However, amidst this situation, a devious smirk gradually curled upon Esteban's face. He seized the moment right away, the stillness, and began advancing towards Rukia, who still stood on the execution platform alongside Ichigo.
Esteban moved with an uncanny agility, his form fluid, his eyes gleaming with an insatiable hunger for power. His intent was unmistakable: he wished to consume Rukia's soul, speculating that in doing so, the power of the Hogyoku harbored within her would be his for the taking. Then he would have even more assurance to take on the entire Soul Society and Aizen.
At his approach, Rukia's eyes widened. A tinge of primal fear clouded the previously composed and determined demeanor she wore before everything suddenly turned chaotic.
Her pulse began to race as Esteban's shadow loomed closer, her breath hitching in anticipation of the confrontation. She couldn't even sense his Reiatsu at all and she knew that it wasn't because he didn't have any, but because he was simply too far away from her current level or else the high-ranking Captains wouldn't be so shaken after his arrival.
Meanwhile, Ichigo, who was standing guard, tensed at Esteban's movement. His muscles coiled like a spring, his senses sharpened, and his gaze hardened. There was a certain ferocity in his eyes, a fierce determination that was fueled by his desire to protect Rukia from the threat closing in.
However, as Esteban reached out for Rukia, his fingers nearly grazing her arm, an unexpected intervention occurred. A beam of silver light flashed, momentarily blinding everyone, and with it came the jarring noise of metal on metal, followed by a flurry of swords. The intricate dance of blades was Tosen's shikai, Suzumushi Tsuishiki: Enma Kōrogi, unleashed in its full fury.
Simultaneously, Gin Ichimaru, with a predatory grin etched onto his face, launched his own shikai, Shinsō. The lengthy blade pierced through the air with astonishing speed, targeting Esteban. The combined sudden onslaught served to distract Esteban, his attention wavering as he found himself forced to defend against the unexpected barrage.
This orchestrated distraction paved the way for a new player to make his entrance. A portal, shimmering and rippling, opened up behind Rukia. From it stepped Sosuke Aizen, the once-trusted Captain, now a figure associated with betrayal and cunning. His eyes, cold and calculating, assessed the situation in a glance.
In a blink of an eye, Aizen was between Rukia and Esteban, his swift movement accentuating his unparalleled command over flash step. His gloved hand shot out, connecting with Ichigo's midsection in a powerful punch that sent the latter sprawling away from Rukia.
The pain was sharp and immediate. Ichigo grunted, his body skidding across the platform. But even as he fell, his eyes remained locked onto Aizen, a mixture of surprise and defiance coloring his gaze. His fists clenched in determination, the taste of defeat fueling his resolve to protect Rukia, whatever the cost, no matter who this next sudden hostile opponent was.
Esteban's thoughts raced as Aizen's actions unfolded before him, 'Damn, this speed... I still didn't overtake him in power, we're at most at the same level...', He admitted begrudgingly. A sour taste filled his mouth as he clenched his fists, a visible manifestation of his frustration.
Meanwhile, the scene in front of him became even more chaotic. Gin and Tosen, who he had deemed too insignificant to keep an eye on, had successfully distracted him just long enough for Aizen to claim Rukia and the Hogyoku with his extraordinary speed successfully.
This oversight for the duo gnawed at him, a harsh reminder of his underestimation of his enemies. They had been running up toward the Hill during the last few moments but he overlooked them completely. They were probably tasked by Aizen to distract him previously like that.
His contemptuous dismissal of Gin and Tosen did not waver, however. The two Soul Reapers might have delayed his plans, but he viewed them as no real threat. In his world of power and ambition, they were nothing more than flies buzzing around a beast. Their short-lived success only fueled his resolve to claim what he believed was his rightful place at the top.
Amidst the unfolding chaos, Esteban swiftly formulated a new plan. He turned to his Fullbringer crew, his voice resolute and commanding, "Take on these three! Keep them busy! Don't let them escape!"
And with the Fullbringers now occupying Aizen's group, Esteban set his eyes on his second best target on the scene: the Sokyoku. The majestic phoenix, a beacon of immense power, served as an alluring substitute for the Hogyoku.
Even as the Fullbringers clashed with Aizen and his cohorts, Esteban dashed towards the Sokyoku, his body cutting through the chaotic battlefield like a bullet. His eyes, now locked onto the phoenix, blazed with a feral greed.
Drawing nearer to the Sokyoku, he could sense the unbridled power radiating from it. The might was immeasurable, tempestuous like a storm-wracked sea, and Esteban felt a thrill of anticipation tremor through his veins.
Tapping into his unique chaotic Hollow Arrancar abilities and constitution, he extended his reach to the Sokyoku, poised to absorb its colossal spiritual energy. As the power coursed into him, he was engulfed by an intense surge of force. His body convulsed under the impact, yet his determination remained unyielding.
In that moment, Esteban metamorphosed into a conduit, channeling the Sokyoku's vast power. He sensed it pulsing through his veins, fusing with his arrancar abilities, magnifying them to an extent he had never experienced. It was a dizzying rush, an intoxicating sensation of ultimate power that threatened to overwhelm him.
Nevertheless, Esteban didn't capitulate. He clenched his teeth, riding out the tidal wave of energy, his gaze unwaveringly locked on his next target—Aizen.
Now armed with the Sokyoku's power, Esteban was primed for the subsequent phase of his strategy. He would wield this newfound strength against Aizen, snatch the Hogyoku from his grasp, and ascend to unparalleled heights of might. His earlier failure was merely a setback.
However, the Fullbringers, under Esteban's command, had hardly begun their charge towards Aizen when the air split open with an ominous rip. Another spatial rift appeared, expelling Aizen's Espada. These weren't mere Hollows; these were Arrancar, a terrifying fusion of Hollow and Shinigami, each carrying a power that could rival a captain's.
As they exited the portal, their gazes met those of the Fullbringers. A clash of intentions stirred the air, the Espada's formidable presence a tangible force against the Fullbringers' resolve. Their countenances were a fusion of steely resolve and predatory anticipation, their attention fixated on the approaching Fullbringers.
Meanwhile, in the heart of the unfolding chaos, Aizen stood on the execution stand, undeterred and seemingly pleased with the situation. He held the Hogyoku in his hands, beginning to fuse with it through an unknown technique. It was eerily similar to how Esteban was in the air, greedily absorbing the Sokyoku's power.
"My Espada...", Aizen began, his calm voice cutting through the thick tension, "Your duty now is to protect me. Keep them at bay...", His instructions, delivered in an almost casual tone, carried a deep sense of authority and strategic foresight. This was Aizen's plan all along; he had masterfully manipulated the situation to his favor. He was, as always, two steps ahead of everyone else.
