Princess' pet

Note: I can only send one chapter now. I was too sleepy yesterday and wrote 4k words in one go. Probably tomorrow, I will write 2 chapters again.

Kriemhild's POV

After officially becoming the princess's pet, Princess introduced her background and her name, which was Arcueid Brunestud, the heir of Crimson Moon and True Ancestor rumored in legend.

She also introduced her future kingdom in this bitter north, which was still ruled by Slav Tribes.

They strolled around until night fell.

She vaguely noticed that they didn't see the princess as an ordinary ruler but as a divine being, judging by how they gazed at her, similar to how they saw Brynhild, her former sister-in-law from the past.

Honestly, she never thought that the princess would be the True Ancestor in the legend.

Who didn't know about their feats in the Crimson Moon War?

If it weren't for Pope Leo I hunting them and nearly driving them to extinction, they would have likely become overlords on the ground.

However, their ambition to rule the world couldn't be tolerated by the Church, and they sought a solution to purge them.

Rumor had it that only two of them remained: Eclipse Princess, whose current location was unknown, and White Princess, who slept in the moon.

And Arcueid Brunestud was the White Princess, the sleeping beauty of legend.

Ugh...

Did they have a lolicon fetish or something for thinking a child is beautiful?

Kriemhild has to admit that her princess is the most beautiful woman she has ever seen.

Or maybe it was her bias in the first place because of the kindness that the princess showed her.

Nonetheless, unless their atheistic view of beauty is normal, there is nothing to deny that her princess was a beautiful one.

"What are you thinking, Kriemhild?" Arcueid tilted her head and asked after she saw her pet looking at her so intently.

"Nothing. I just think you are beautiful, princess," Kriemhild told her honestly.

"You are beautiful too, Kriemhild," Arcueid complimented in return.

She was amused by her pet's honest opinion and didn't hold back on the compliment.

"I thought your expression would always be cold, Princess, not as expressive as it is now," Kriemhild was confused by the contrast in the princess's expression from their first meeting to now, as it was no longer emotionless like when they first met.

"I did act that way because I thought you would react like those annoying women I've read about in cultivation novels. I didn't want to deal with it," Arcueid didn't mind sharing her thoughts and explained why she had acted that way during their first meeting.

"They are often ungrateful to their savior and always doubting them, even though the savior was the one who saved them in the first place. But when I realized that you are not like that, I started treating you with more kindness."

Although Kriemhild didn't know what a Cultivation Novel was, she understood its meaning. It meant that her princess didn't like annoying people or those who doubted her good intentions.

Whatever the reason, it was clear that her princess didn't like such individuals. That's why she would act intimidating and domineering to prevent them from annoying her.

As she got to know her better, Kriemhild realized that the princess was actually a kind and cool girl. At the same time, she knew that it wasn't all an act. The domineering demeanor seemed to be deeply rooted in the princess's personality, perhaps because she was born into a position of power and privilege at the top of the world.

Was that the very reason why the princess acted domineering, even if she wasn't consciously aware of it herself?

Even in the past, Kriemhild didn't deny that she might have had the same self-centered thinking as the princess.

However, after her kingdom was burned and everything fell apart, her status as a former princess didn't hold much value in this world, except for attracting some unnecessary attention.

"It should be how a normal person should act, Princess, for them to doubt their circumstances even when you're saving them," Kriemhild replied.

"That's why I don't have much interaction with normal people. I don't understand them, and they don't understand me. And I don't want to seek understanding from them."

"You're not normal, Kriemhild. That's what I like about you," Arcueid grinned.

So, that's it.

Presumably, if she acted normally, the princess would lose interest in her? She felt a bit panicked at the thought of being abandoned.

However, her princess's soothing voice calmed her down.

"Don't worry, Kriemhild. I will not abandon you. You are my pet. My favorite pet. And you will stay that way in the future."

Even though it might sound degrading for a human to be kept as a pet, she felt comforted by it. Even if she became the princess's dog, she was willing. As long as she would always be the princess's favorite, she would do anything to maintain that position.

They sat down in the snowy night, gazing at the stars in the tranquil atmosphere, while the princess placed her head in Kriemhild's lap.

"I'm feeling sleepy, Kriemhild. I hope you don't mind carrying me back to camp."

Before she plunged into a deep slumber, she reminded Kriemhild to move her back to the camp, as she didn't want to sleep in this place.

"Yes, Princess."

After hearing Kriemhild's affirmation, Arcueid gained peace of mind and slept soundly in her lap.

She didn't notice the fervent look on Kriemhild's face after she closed her eyes.

Kriemhild stroked her princess's hair gently before carrying out her order.

It seemed that the princess really trusted her to have her back unguarded.

This made Kriemhild both happy and worried.

Was this some kind of test, or something else?

She didn't know.

Nonetheless, she did what her princess had told her faithfully, without making any unnecessary movements.

Whether it was a test or not, she wouldn't betray her princess's faith in her.

Although the princess looked so cute and made her want to hug her, she wouldn't touch her without her permission. Unless the princess willed it, she wouldn't do anything that crossed the line or went beyond her station.

Unknowingly, they had already arrived at the camp, where Slav tribes guarding the camp nodded respectfully at them and allowed them to enter the princess's camp.

Kriemhild placed her on the bed and yawned.

Well, not only the princess was tired, but she was too.

However, before she could react, the princess dragged her into bed and gripped her body, not letting go as she used her as a pillow with her eyes closed.

Kriemhild, who was already tired, didn't refuse and slept with the princess, cuddling each other and seeking warmth in the cold night.
