Chapter 79: The Upgrade of the Goddess of Luck System
The functions of the Goddess of Luck System, previously devoured by the Villain System, were somewhat incomplete. Ye Zian initially thought that parts of the system were lost during the devouring process, but it turned out it was because he hadn't entirely absorbed the protagonist's halo.
Now, after completely absorbing the protagonist's halo, the Goddess of Luck System was fully restored.
Just as Ye Zian was feeling relieved at having fully mastered the Goddess of Luck System, the sky suddenly darkened, despite previously being clear. Around him, energy gathered into a white sphere of light.
The white sphere gradually expanded to an assumed size of at least 100 meters, containing immense energy.
The system's voice chimed in right on cue:
"This sphere is the so-called will of the heavens. Who knows what mischief it's up to now?"
Ye Zian frowned, his eyes fixed on the white sphere, ready to counter any threat.
Fortunately, the absorption of the protagonist's halo had returned Ye Zian's powers to their peak, with signs of breaking through to the second tier.
"You don't need to be afraid, host. You've fully absorbed Su Chen's protagonist halo. The will of the heavens can't harm you directly or do anything that endangers your safety."
"Mhm."
Hearing the system's explanation, Ye Zian's tension eased, though his gaze remained locked on the sphere above.
To Ye Zian's surprise, the sphere did nothing and suddenly burst open in the sky, scattering dozens of beams of white light to every corner of the world.
"What the hell, is the will of this world insane?"
The Villain System suddenly became agitated, as if witnessing something that shattered its worldview.
The system's excitement made Ye Zian feel uneasy, prompting him to ask urgently:
"System, what exactly is happening?"
The system spoke in an agitated, incoherent manner, explaining to Ye Zian:
"The will of the heavens actually self-destructed."
"Normally, when there's competition between our system and the will of the heavens in this dimension, it's a fair game. If the villain fails, they become a stepping stone for the protagonist.
If the villain wins, we seize the world's fortune and move on, leaving the will of the heavens dormant for hundreds of years until a new protagonist is nurtured."
"But the will of the heavens in this world just self-destructed, using all its energy to enhance the powers of the female protagonists and also blew open the dimension's barrier, making this world ownerless.
Countless systems from other dimensions are expected to send their female travelers to invade, creating competition for us."
Ye Zian was taken aback by the fierce character of the will of the heavens.
He couldn't help but exclaim:
"What the hell, is the will of the heavens so extreme?"
However, as something clicked in his mind, he inquired,
"Wait, system, did you say female travelers? Are female travelers being sent to me in a male-oriented novel?"
Many female travelers from other worlds began appearing in this world, limited by the original world's rules to only exceptionally gifted women.
Meanwhile, female protagonists or other female characters marginalized due to the original book's unsatisfactory ending were gradually being freed from their constraints.
Listening to the system's account, Ye Zian had no choice but to accept the current situation.
Although the original protagonist, Su Chen, was gone, the female protagonists in this world had grown considerably stronger, alongside female powerhouses from other worlds, putting the situation slightly out of control.
Ye Zian initially thought that defeating Su Chen would ensure peace, allowing him to follow his storyline peacefully.
However, with the storyline now unpredictable, relying on preconceived notions could invite disaster for Ye Zian.
Thankfully, the timing of natural disasters hadn't changed, providing him with some solace.
Moreover, without the protection of the will of the heavens, there'd be no supernatural interference in his confrontations with the female characters.
He could grow stronger, engage in straightforward training, or simply bring opponents to the stronghold to control them through mental connection.
Considering this, Ye Zian felt a bit relieved.
The self-destruction of the will of the heavens relieved him of a powerful obstacle.
And it even supplied him with numerous female adversaries.
Yet, dealing with the Empire of the Rising Sun would need to be prioritized.
With the self-destruction of the will of the heavens, female characters were unbound from their original narrative restrictions, becoming fully conscious with their independent thoughts and intentions, liberated from the constraints of the original book.
In the distant Germanic Empire, a petite blonde girl was being dragged onto an execution ground by a soldier. Her frail stature starkly contrasted with the massive axe wielded by the executioner as she was pinned to the guillotine.
"Sister Laura, Sister Laura."
A girl below the execution ground was calling out her sister's name with a sobbing voice, while her sister was pinned down by soldiers, ready to be beheaded as a warning to others.
The onlookers were gaunt and emaciated, with a grandmother clutching Mia, the younger sister, covering her eyes to shield her from the gruesome scene.
A robust man stood on the city walls, holding a glass of red wine, watching the execution unfold. He carelessly stepped on freshly cooked food on the ground, turning it into mush just because it didn't suit his taste.
Behind him, likely attractive young girls ignored their dignity, crawling to pick up the dirt-covered bread and other food, voraciously stuffing it into their mouths, not caring about the taste.
Pointing at Laura, the stout man addressed the town:
"This is the fate of bread thieves. Begin the execution, Wales."
The executioner, holding a gigantic axe, received the lord's order and prepared to behead Laura.
As the axe was about to fall, the despairing girl closed her eyes, only to hear a mechanical voice in her mind:
"Congratulations on activating the Iron-blood Empire System; this filthy, greedy world needs blood to cleanse it. Only blood can restore the empire's glory."
The girl's aura instantaneously surged, transforming her from a powerless captive to a high-level tier-one ability user.
Laura swiftly broke free from the guards holding her. Her delicate hand firmly gripped the axe handle that was about to fall.
Despite the executioner's full-bodied effort, he couldn't regain control of the axe.
With a powerful tug, Laura snatched the massive axe, unfitting her stature, and in a reverse swing, cleaved the executioner.
This sudden twist startled everyone present, civilians and guards alike, who stood frozen, frightened by Laura.
Wales was an ability user, second only to the lord. Yet, the girl stared down at all from the platform, addressing the crowd:
"We risk becoming zombie food in the wild, laboring tirelessly to grow crops, giving up willingly, with those crops returned unmet by protection.
A fist-sized bread demands 50 zombie crystals from us, needing fifty zombies' worth of bodies, enough to load a truck."
