Secret rooms

"Okay come on down and check it out." Emilia said as she began leading them down the stairs after turning on the lights.

Before the lights were switched on the basement was pitch black. One couldn't even see their own hands right infront of them let alone what was inside but once the lights were turned on the entire space brightened up.

Lights lined the ceiling illuminating the entire basement. Walking down the stairs cabinets and shelves filled with supplies came into view. From their view point the right side of the basement looked like a library filled with shelves in straight lines keeping little to no distance from one another.

"Gosh its so full in here. How do you know where to find anything?" Ling Qin asked still shocked by the mere size of the basement .

"There are signs."Emilia said as she pointed at the signs that were placed at the entrance of each passage.

The left side looked more like a regular warehouse though . It was more open and was filled with boxes stacked on top of each other.

"Most of the things in the boxes are things I havent gotten a chance to pack yet while the others are probably going to stay In there until they are needed." Emilia said as she descended down the stairs with the two males following right behind her.

"You've done quite a lot of collecting" Ling Xiao said as he took a look around

"Ya but it's not nearly enough. I haven't had much time to really collect much because of my work. The things i have can barely last for three years." Emilia sighed

Ling Xiao came behind her and hugged her shoulders. "Don't stress about that, don't we still have all the materials that Qinqin and I collected. We have more than enough to last us for more than eight years. Plus we still have time to collect more materials before the apocalypse and during."

"Mhm your right . Ok come let me show you around!" Emilia said as she held his hand and began leading them through the rows of shelves while introducing the supplies on each shelf.

As they walked Emilia led them to the back of the basement and right behind the last shelf was a door made from metal.

"This is another room I wanted you take notice of." Emilia said as she pushed open the door. Immediately with the opening of the door a gust of cold air came rushing out towards them. The impact between the cold air and their bodies caused them shiver from the drastic temperature change. The cold air did not have as much impact on Ling Xiao though compared to the other two because as a soldier his body had already been trained to deal with all sorts of situations including extreme cold.

The same couldn't be said for Emilia and Ling Qin . Though the winter during the apocalypse was extremely cold and they had already gotten used to living through it during their past lives their current bodies hadn't gotten the cleansing and enhancement that came with the apocalypse so this slight cold still affected them.

"That's cold!" ling Qin commented

"This room maintains a temperature of -10°C at all times increasing only when the door is opened. Ofcourse the increase isn't too much." Emilia commented.

"What is this place?" Ling Qin asked as he moved in.

"Its like a giant refrigerator Emilia responded I had this room created so that I would be able to keep meat and vegetables fresher for longer periods as well as some other foods that perish quickly. I haven't bought the meat and vegetables though as I had planed to do that the day before the apocalypse as well as early morning of end day to increase its freshness date just by a bit."She said as she looked at the room from the door together with Ling Xiao.

"Qinqin come on out it is best if we close it up so as to not alter the temperature in here by too much ." Ling Xiao said

Ling Qin immediately turned back and walked towards the door. Once he was out Ling Xiao immediately closed the door.

"In the future when food has been placed inside it's best to not waste time when one enters this room and take what they need as quickly as possible." Ling Xiao said once he had the door firmly closed

"Mhm that's right" Emilia nodded in agreement "Plus this basement is currently powered by electricity and will later be powered by the solar panels alone so by keeping it closed we will reduce the pressure on the solar panels, as not a lot of power will be used to continuously adjust the temperature" she continued

"Should I take out the meat in my space?" Ling Qin asked his parents.

"No, its best to keep it in the space after all the space has freshness properties and is able to keep things in the same condition as their entry. Its more powerful than the cold room." Ling Xiao responded

"Yes that's right keep those in the space. The meat that will be placed in here is most likely going to rot at some point no matter how cold the room is. The food in here is what we are going to eat first Emilia continued once Ling Xiao stopped

" Ok then come on" she said turning back towards the shelves and heading out.

Once they finished the walk around the basement the family of three returned to their point of entrance, right below the staircase

"Right Ling Qin take out some of the things from your space and place them here" Ling Xiao said as he pointed towards the boxes lining the far left side of the basement. "This way you will be able to clear up space for more supplies. Oh and don't take out the food as well as emergency supplies as for the rest we can collect them slowly"

"Mhm" Ling Qin nodded and walked towards the boxes. He lifted his hand and waved slightly. Immediately there was a slight distortion of space too small to see with the human eye, in that area and boxes appeared one after the other.

"I've taken out everything." Ling Qin said as he turned towards his parents.

"Come on then let me show you the rest of the house." Emilia said as she began climbing the stairs.

They quickly exited the basement and returned to the first floor. With their exit the entrance to the basement disappeared back into the wall. Blending in with the rest of the wall and becoming inconspicuous. If Ling Xiao and Ling Qin hadn't just been downstairs they wouldn't have noticed anything different about that section of the wall.

Emilia continued the tour of the house right after they exited the basement. It didn't take long for them to visit all the rooms both on the first floor and second floor since the villa wasn't really that big. Once Emilia had finished showing Ling Qin his bedroom and Ling Xiao their room Emilia led them to the room at the end of the hallway.

Unlike the other rooms this room needed one to use their fingerprint to access it.

Emilia placed her her right thumb on the scanner and the door opened right after a click sounded. On the other side of the door was another greenhouse filled with vegetables.

"Another greenhouse?!" Ling Qin exclaimed in shock. Though this greenhouse was smaller than the one outside almost all the plants planted outside were also found inside this one.

"Mhm, one can never be too prepared or too trusting in the last days. We can never be sure that there won't be someone who will try to steal the vegetables in the greenhouse outside or try to destroy it so I've created a second one that's hidden away from people's eyes. This one here will act as insurance." Emilia explained as she came to stand in the centre of the room as her eyes swept through the room at all the plants.

"Right speaking of the greenhouse outside how are you going to ensure that those plants are not contaminated by the virus once the end comes?" Ling Xiao asked Emilia.

"I've already made preparations for that!" Emilia responded "Previously the apocalypse started because of the gas that spread rapidly while carrying the blood of the Ganria and toxic substances. In order to ensure that my plants will not affected I've had them isolated from the rest of the land." She said pausing for a second before explaining what she meant by that.

"During the construction of the greenhouse I had the construction workers remove the soil underneath the land where the greenhouse stands. Three meters of the land that was removed, was filled with concrete and the other part was not completely filled with concrete but I had them layer the sides with concrete creating a swimming pool kind of structure. It was then filled up with nutrient rich soil and the glass house was built with the glass walls actually going underground and being in contact with the concrete linings. So even though the plants seem to have their roots spreading into the ground they are restricted and can only grow in that 2 meters of soil. Therefore there will be no mixing of the contaminated soil with the soil in the greenhouse. I've also taken extra measure and had some of other plants planted in pots and containers.

"Amazing!" Ling Qin exclaimed looking at his mother with eyes shining bright. Ling Xiao also looked at Emilia with blatant appreciation and pride. 'His wife was so amazing, being able to plan ahead for everything.'

"Its not that amazing." Emilia said with a smile. She stretched out her hand and rubbed his head.

"Okay now that we've seen the house it's time to go pack our bags. Come on, the earlier we finish the earlier we can rest and do other things. I'll have your fingerprints added to the system later."

"Alright" Ling Xiao responded as he took the lead to exit the indoor greenhouse with Emilia and Ling Qin following right behind him. Each heading to a different room to begin packing.
