Volume 2 Chapter 15: Versus Daniel Part 1

Daniel: "It's because the default win condition is the first one to kill your opponents to win."

After learning that the default win condition was to kill the enemy first, Carmilla sighed in relief, as she didn't want to die just like that.

Tria: "Now that's done, we can start."

After saying that, Tria snapped her fingers. Carmilla, Eve, and Pepper were teleported to the left side of the room, while Daniel was teleported to the right side of the room.

Afterward, trees began to emerge from the ground and fill the entire room.

Afterwards, while the rest of the light orbs turned off, a huge light orb turned on in the middle of the room's roof, acting like the moon.

*Clap*

*Clap*

*Clap*

While Carmilla, Eve, and Pepper were still shocked due to suddenly being teleported and the trees popping out of nowhere, the three claps of Tria that echoed through out the whole forest quickly attracted their attention.

Tria: "Okay, are you all ready?"

Tria's voice sounded directly in all of their ears, so even though they were scattered around and Tria was far away, they still managed to hear what she said.

Daniel: "Yes, your majesty."

Carmilla: "Yes."

Eve: "Ready."

Pepper: "Yeah, I'm born ready."

Tria heard all of their voices with a simple wind spell, and if you look closely at her ears, you will see a small magic circle near them.

Tria: "Since all of you are ready, ready, set, fight."

After saying that, the silent forest around them started to make several noises—like insects, birds chirping, the sound of the wind blowing the branches and leaves of the trees, and even the hooting sounds of owls—making the forest feel lively and real.

Carmilla surveys her surroundings, which makes her feel like she is outside and not inside a huge room.

Feeling that the forest will be hard and bothersome to maneuver around, Carmilla thought that Daniel would also have a hard time moving through the forest. It would be challenging for him to find them, giving them enough time to talk about the plan she just have devised with Eve and Pepper.

Carmilla: "So here's our plan: we find Daniel, and when we find him, you, Eve, and Pepper will engage in melee combat with him. I will use a bow and distract him from time to time."

Eve: "Master, I don't think it's a wise choice for us to fight him in a forest. He should be a very old vampire, so he likely has a lot of experience moving and fighting in this kind of environment, especially him being a archer."

After Eve finished saying that, a male voice sounded inside the forest.

Daniel: "She is very right about that."

After that, an arrow was fired towards Carmilla.

*Whoosh*

Hearing the sound of an arrow being fired, the three of them start to look around to see where the arrow might be coming from.

Pepper suddenly shouted.

Pepper: "Master, Eve, quickly crouch down!"

After saying that, Pepper herself crouched down, followed by Carmilla and Eve.

That's when they heard the arrow hitting a tree.

*Thud*

After that, they heard Daniel speak again.

Daniel: "Even though my level and stat got restricted to level 5, I still have my abundant experience. As an archer, we like to fight in this kind of environment where we can easily maneuver around. But what we truly like is when our target is acting like a sitting duck that we can easily hit."

To prove what he has said, he fires three more arrows toward Carmilla, Eve, and Pepper.

Upon hearing what Daniel has said, Carmilla realized that in Daniel's eyes, they were not only a sitting duck but also a defenseless one.

That is when they heard three arrows being fired.

Carmilla quickly issued a series of commands she could think of that might work.

Carmilla: "Shields up quickly and prepare to face the last direction where the first arrow came from."

After those orders, the three of them began creating a powerful shield using blood magic. Before they completed it, they faced the direction Pepper was looking at, as where she noticed the first arrow Daniel had shot.

The three of them inserted the half-complete great shields into the ground before quickly taking cover behind them.

That's when the three arrows flew past above their heads.

They heard Daniel's voice again, but from a different direction.

Daniel: "As I said, we like this kind of environment because we can easily maneuver around, allowing us to reposition ourselves easily."

After saying that, Daniel fired twice the amount he last did.

*Swoosh* *Swoosh*

*Swoosh* *Swoosh*

*Swoosh* *Swoosh*

Hearing what Daniel said and simultaneously noticing that his voice came from a different direction.

They tried to find his new position, but before they could be sure of it, Daniel finished talking, followed by the rapid firing of six arrows. The three of them quickly raised the now finished great shield.

They faced the direction where they heard Daniel's voice and swiftly inserted the great shield into the ground.

*Ding* *Ding*

*Ding* *Ding*

*Ding* *Ding*

Unlike the last time where the arrows flew above their heads, the six arrows hit different parts of the great shield. The shield displayed several small cracks where the arrows had struck, luckily not hitting the same spot multiple times.

The great shield would not hold on if two or more arrows hit the same spot.

The three of them quickly repaired their individual great shields upon seeing their cracked states.

Daniel, concealed in the trees, silently observes as the trio dodges and blocks the arrows he had strategically shot.

Upon observing the trio's reactions, Daniel discerned their lack of battle experience. He noted that they remained in their starting positions, openly discussing a plan to confront him.

Upon hearing the plan suggested by one of the three, Daniel's eyebrows couldn't help but twitch. He really wanted to approach the one who suggested that plan and smack some sense into her, shouting, 'Who in their right mind would fight an archer on its home ground?'.

In the forest, armed with swords, as archers prefer toying with foes who willingly engage in the wooded battleground.
