"These materials are expensive as hell" Mel complained internally as he approached the five Regular Zombies on the floor. He just discovered that there are beast cores inside the brain of mutated beasts and zombies.

"...." Mel continued to cut open the three-eyed dog and ignored the system's remark.

Mel stabbed his machete he got from the storage room of the shelter. For the years have past since the shelter was built, his family wasn't lazy about it, including him they had periodically maintained the condition of the shelter. And thanks to that, there was a huge amount of resources in the shelter.

The slick black scales reflected the light coming from the hole. Large salamander scales covered the portion of his body, with salamander skin on its joints, allowing him to move easily despite its slightly bulky appearance.

Wearing the black battle suit that perfectly fitted his body, Mel smiled with confidence. He took out his Flaming Crossbow and tied the bolts to his back.

Despite being covered with armor, Mel could move so easily as if the battle suit was non-existent.

Mel took a deep breath after performing a few exercises.

"I'm good to go"

Mel unlocked the iron door of the shelter, the muscle all over his body was tense. Kicking the door open, with his index fingers on the trigger, Mel quickly aimed his loaded crossbow towards the corridor leading up to the ground floor.

Mel sighed, fortunately, there wasn't any hideous demon on the other side of the door.

Mel climbed upstairs, his mind and body didn't relax since he'd kicked open the door. After reaching the surface level, he saw his house in a ruble. Mel's heart ached a bit, this was the only thing that was left behind by his family.

Mel suppressed the pain in his heart and studied the surroundings. Tall and thick trees encompassed his house.

"How long did I pass out anyway?"

The trees couldn't have grown overnight. Especially how humongous those trees are.

ROAR

Mel suddenly heard a beast cry. Turning his head to the right, Mel saw a snake dashing at him. It was huge, its width is similar to a van.

Mel didn't panicked and quickly fired multiple shots at the snake. In the Flaming Crossbow blaze, 6 flaming arrows hit the snake, but it only caused a few scratches on its skin.

It didn't damage the beast, Mel guest that the snake should be a Grade 3 mutated beast. He fired the remaining arrow, it was aimed at the serpent's eyes.

To Mel's disbelief, the snake closes its eyelids. It easily blocks the arrows, it seems like the eyelids were much tougher than the body.

"Sht" Mel hastily jumps at the side successfully evading the snake's assault. But a moment later he flew in the air, he felt his organs trembled, the side of his armor cracked. After the snake missed its attack, it slashed its tail at him.

'Fck this snake is much smarter than me!' Mel cursed as he tumbled, before being stopped by a tree.

Mel stood up and supported himself against the tree. Warily staring at the massive snake as he quickly loaded the Flaming Crossbow again.

A human clad in black and a snake as tall as a house, both of them stared at each other in the middle of the forest in silence.

Staring at him for a moment, as if sizing him up. The snake darted at him with extraordinary speed. Mel gripped his crossbow tightly and also ran towards the mutated snake.

Mel fired two bolts towards the snake's head which was flung easily by the latter. The snake's speed burst and opened its mouth wide.

Just as it was about to swallow Mel. A huge amount of sand greeted its face. The snake instinctively closes its eyes, causing it to fail its attack again.

Mel dodged the snake's blind attack and jumped over its head. Grabbing a hold on top of its head, Mel fired a shot to its slightly open eyelids.

The second shot destroyed its eyes right eye.

Third shot.. The snake cried and shook its body, trying to shake him. Mel hugged the snake tightly

Fourth shot...

Fifth shot....

At the sixth shot, the mutated snake was no longer breathing.

Mel laid on the serpent's head in exhaustion. He was only able to do all those actions because of the enhancement of the battle suit. Mel would be in the belly of the mutated snake by now if he came out with no battle suit.

The grade 3 mutated beast was exceptionally intelligent. It has a strong combat sense and tough skin. Mel just got lucky that the sand he bought in the system work like he thought it would.

Mel forced his body to stand up. He needs to discard the body, or else more beast will come running to his shelter.

"Oh right, system can you collect the whole snake as a material?"

Mel inquired the system, it would be much easier. He could also make use of the corpse as a materials, buying materials in the system traumatized him a little bit.
