14. A NEW TRICK

With the rain pouring hard outside and the thunders roaring loudly, I stood on a small stage in the gymnasium where whispers and heart melting cries could be heard

"Listen up,.... We have decided that we would be recruiting some survivors for a special mission, those of you who are willing to work would be given a special reward and those of you who refuse to work would have to watch the others enjoy their reward." I said

"Reward... What kind of reward can you give to someone now that there's zombies out there trying to eat our brains, even money is useless." one of the survivors said

"If you're willing to work you'd be given twice the size of what you're eating."

"T-twice the size?..."

"Yes twice the size."

".... I'm no fool with that kind of offer there must be a catch." another survivor said

"Yeah, there's a catch, there must be a catch." another survivor added

"It depends on how you look at it, if you're willing to obtain the reward and satisfy your hunger, some of you would have to scavange some classes and dorms for any useful items and the others would have to help remove the thick skin of the mutated spider."

"W-what kind of lunatic would do that just to get something to eat!" one of the survivors yelled

'If only they knew what hunger was.' I thought

"That's not fair, we would have to go out there with the zombies, that's just cruel!" another said

"I'm not so stupid to go out there, isn't it better to offer ourselves to the zombies and mutated animals so they could have a nice meal."

"I don't think they're willing to work Kate." Sophie approached me on the small stage

"If they're not willing to work then we'll have no other choice than to leave them here."

"But we can't just leave over 300 survivors to fend of on their own." Sophie said

"And we can't keep feeding 300 lazy people." I said

"..."

"I'm willing to work." a small and cute voice was heard which drew everyone attention towards the owner of the voice

"What did you say?!... Do you even know what you're going up against? they're deadly zombies out there who's only motive is to chew on our juicy brains." One of the survivors said to the little girl who I could tell was only on her first year

"Hey Kate, isn't that the girl whose sister you saved?" Sophie asked

"Yeah, I think her name is Alice."

'She must be feeling grateful after I saved her sister.'

Staring at the little figure who was visibly shaking with fear.

"Haaa... I don't wanna have to use this trick but..."

I sashayed towards Alice as hard as I can trying to get everyone's attention drawn towards me

When I was on a close distance with Alice, i leaned close, really close

"You're very brave, I like brave people." I said in a very seductive tone

"What's she doing, is she trying to seduce her." Mia said from afar

"Why isn't that me." John mumbled

"I-i'm also brave" one of the male survivors said

"Me too, I can do the job with ease." another said

"Take me with you, I'll finish the job very easily, after all I'm pretty strong."

With that, I got over 60 people willing to go out there and they were all male survivors

"With the little experience I had in my past life, men all had one thing in common... Their lust for women." I thought.

"Okay then, you all will help in removing the skin of the spider." I said with a large grin

"Now all we need are volunteers who would be willing to scavange the nearest dorms and classes for anything useful."

This time no one was ready to volunteer themselves and I was out of tricks and options

"Enough of this!" Now it was Mia's turn to speak and she was really angry

"You all are acting childish now, we go out there and risk our lives for you and when we ask for you to do the same you all chicken out, I'm really ashamed of you all!" Mia said in a very angry tone

After Mia was done speaking, whispers filled the room.

I guess she was a prominent figure in the school before the apocalypse began

"S-she's right guys, we have to act in other to be safe from those zombies, if we don't do as they say we could all die." One of the female survivors said

"I-i don't want to die." Another survivor said

"I'll do it, I'll work, i-i'll do anything just to stay alive." another added

With the help of Mia we were able to get over 20 survivors who were willing to scout the nearby dorms and classes while the others were still reluctant, albeit the number was little, it was enough

"Now that that's settled, I'll brief you all with the plan... For those who volunteered to be part of the scavangers, you would be lead by four people from the leaders for protection, you would have to scavange for anything useful in the nearest dorms and classes but don't go to far as it would be dangerous to wander off into the unknown." I explained

"And for the others, they would also be lead by four leaders, they would have to use any material found by the first group to remove the tough skin of the mutated spider as we woy be using it for something very important, but this plan would have to wait until the first group are done with their own part."

"And when does this plan commence?" A survivor asked

"Don't worry, I won't send you off now, that would be too cruel, the plan would start from tomorrow, so have a nice meal and rest, we have a lot to do tomorrow."

In a large office a man in the military uniform was seen talking to another who also wore the military uniform

"Sergeant Finn, how's the search for my daughter going? Have you heard any news about her yet?" A man who had wrinkles in his face said to his younger comrade

"No general, but we've sent some of our men to bring her back." The younger looking man said

"Your main priority should be to bring back my daughter, she's all I have, send in the best soldiers, I need her alive and not a walking dead."

"But general Gordon, our best soldiers are out their fighting against those nasty things, we can't just recruit them any time we like, there's a law we have to abide to, we can't just throw it away."

"TSK" clicking his tongue, general Gordon sighed and dismissed sergeant Finn

"I can't stop worrying about her, I know she's no longer a little child but I've already lost her mother and now this apocalypse had to begin" general Gordon said as he thought of the things that could happen to his daughter

'What if she got bitten by a zombie, what if she was killed by a mutated animal or what if she was... Defiled'
