Angel of Night

Ethan hates the heroism cover. Silver Field Academy is nothing but a scam, the school only accepts reincarnated heroes, but all of the heroes here are hypocrites. He was challenged to a battle by Hadrian, the reincarnation of the first star of Nox, also known as the Bloody Tyrant because of his ability. He hoped that the fight would not disappoint him. Well, he wasn't able to fight Hadrian and he was kidnapped instead. But it's fine though, as long as nothing happens. But peace was never an option for him. The past he doesn't remember is catching up to him and his once peaceful life is getting taken away. At least Hadrian will comfort him... And maybe Emily, too.

Chapter 13

Tip from Ethan, Don't stalk a teacher you don't like and then tell your favorite teacher what you are going to do because they might just be dating, and you have just made a fool out of yourself a year later.

He ran to his room and bumped into Hadrian before he reached it. They both fell to the ground, and Ethan rubbed his head in pain while Hadrian rubbed his chest as they both stood up. "How is your chest made of brick?" Ethan asked.

Hadrian gave a pained smile and said, "I work out?"

Ethan pouted a bit. "This is not fair," he muttered.

"So how did your talk with Taegen and Reginald go?" Hadrian asked.

Ethan blushed in embarrassment, remembering that Taegen and Reginald have been dating for three years and he didn't know. "What made you think that I went to talk to Reginald and Taegen?" he asked.

Hadrian looks at him blankly. "You were glaring at Taegen throughout dinner; I thought you would have talked to them."

"How are you so good at guessing?" Ethan said childishly.

Hadrian laughs a bit. "You are quite easy to read, to be honest," he said, smiling at Ethan.

"Whatever."

Unknown to them, Emily came out of her room; she wanted to see Ethan but just happened to stumble upon this scene. Now she can't allow herself to interrupt them. How would this go?

She wishes that she had a fortune-telling ability right now so she could predict the future of those two. The one with the ability is Ethan, but he doesn't like using his Time ability to see the future; he never told her why.

"Is there something wrong?" Finn asked, scaring Emily a bit.

"There's nothing wrong," Emily said.

Hadrian and Ethan heard Emily's voice, and they walked to her location. "You three are meant to be in bed," Finn said, looking at the three of them strictly.

"We will," Emily said, pulling Hadrian and Ethan with her.

But Ethan didn't get pulled. "How old are you?" he asked. "You look very young to be working as a butler under Taegen," he said, pretending to be curious. He has noticed Emily's little crush, and he just wants to make sure that she's not having a crush on an old man in disguise.

Emily was petrified by Ethan's question and wanted to smack him for being rude.

"I'm seventy-two human years old," Finn replies, making Emily's head turn faster than her neck could handle.

"Ah!" she silently screamed. She met Ethan's eyes and saw them say, 'See, seventy-two, not twenty-two.'

She could see him shaking his head and clicking his tongue in pity.

"Do you have a wife?" Ethan asked as well.

"No, and I have no plans on getting one; I am dedicating my life to serving Taegen and his partner," Finn replies. "Is there a reason for asking this?"

Ethan shook his head. "No, I was just curious, that's all."

"We'll be going to bed, now," he said, allowing Emily to drag him away.

------------------------------------

Emily went to her room with a saddened face, leaving Ethan and Hadrian outside. "Why is she sad?" Hadrian asked.

"She had a little crush, and I don't want her to make any wrong decisions, so I asked some questions," Ethan explained as they walked to their rooms. "She has a thing for elegant people, no matter their gender, and she goes crazy just so they will notice her," he said.

"But you said she had a crush on you; you aren't very elegant," Hadrian said.

Ethan scoffed. "That's because you are my friend; you don't get to see my elegance," he said, poking Hadrian. "I made Emily my friend so she wouldn't see my elegance; it worked very well,, then she went after other people. She has had a crush on seven people in total, and I helped save her dignity by uncovering some dirty secrets about them and showing them to her," he said. "Or something that they would want in a partner, something that she's not, and Emily refuses to change herself because she's not their type of partner."

"If Emily is going to like someone, it should not be someone from that school; none of them are worthy of dating someone who is as great as her; she's my second best friend; if her feelings get hurt, I'll find whoever did it and make sure they find relief in death.

"Aww," Hadrian said, rubbing Ethan's hair. "That's so cute," he said.

"Whatever," Ethan said, slapping Hadrian's hand off his head.

Hadrian grinned. "By the way, who's your first best friend?" he asked out of curiosity.

"Isn't it obvious?" Ethan said. "It's Midnight; no one can replace her in my heart."

Hadrian laughs out loud. They walked to their rooms and waved each other goodnight before going in to close the door.

--------------------------------

Emily had gotten over her crush on Finn the next day and began acting like her normal cheerful self, talking to the couple with starry eyes.

"I'm surprised I've never seen you in my class," Reginald said to Emily while they were talking.

Emily smiled. "That's because I'm not a reincarnated warrior hero," she explained. "I'm the reincarnation of a motivational hero, Racheal Wikeworst."

"She raised awareness to save the red panda beastmen from extinction since they were sold into slavery for their cuteness," Emily explained proudly.

"Wow, you had a good past life," Reginald said.

"But I don't like any of my classes," Emily said, pouting. "It's too boring, and we don't talk about battle strategies and stuff like that. I am also a warrior with the ability to create any weapon I choose, or maybe even recreate some weapons from history and use them."

Reginald smiled. "I can see why Ethan chose you to be his friend," he said.

"But it's unfortunate the other heads are a bunch of stiff old geezers wanting to keep things the same," Taegen said.

"And you are one of those old geezers, Taegen," Ethan said, walking in on their conversation.

"I am not," Taegen said. "I'm not that old, either."

Ethan raised an eyebrow and waved it off. "Whatever you say, I guess four hundred and forty-eight years is very young," he said.

"Wow, you are old," Emily said, and Reginald nodded in response.

"Not you too, bunny," Taegen said, faking his hurt feelings.

Reginald laughed a bit, and then everyone else laughed. "By the way, where's Hadrian?" Reginald asked.

"He's talking to Flora, his manager," Ethan replies.

"Did you also talk to her?" Emily asked.

"Yeah," Ethan said exhaustedly. "She keeps worrying about me and Hadrian, asking if we are alright, and stuff like that."

"Don't blame her; she hasn't seen you in six years, and the last time she saw you, you nearly died in her arms," Emily said.

"What?" Reginald said in surprise. "Nearly died?" he asked.

"Ethan was in the midst of life and death before he arrived at Silver Field, because our healing ray was one of the most advanced to ever exist because it could heal anyone, no matter their race or core type. And since Ethan is half human, it only seemed reasonable to take him there. I didn't know the entire story since Henry refused to tell me anything," Taegen explained.

Hadrian came in and sat down, looking a bit empty minded. "What did Flora say?" Ethan asked.

"She wants to retire to end the organization once and for all," Hadrian said.

"That's dangerous," Ethan and Emily said at the same time.

"That's what I told her, but she said that she must try and end this once and for all, or else the future of the world is uncertain," he explained.

"And she's doing this alone?" Ethan asked, standing up angrily.

"No," Hadrian said. "She and a group of rebels have been planning this since she escaped; she said that since they got to me and were willing to use me, it means that the Master's plan is almost done."

Ethan's aura burst out with rage, nearly suffocating Reginald and Emily. "I'm going to stop her even if it means breaking her bone, so she doesn't do anything stupid," Ethan said, teleporting away from the living room.

"So do you mind explaining what is going on?" Taegen said.

Emily and Hadrian then proceeded to explain what happened.

--------------------------------------

Ethan appeared in front of Flora in her apartment's living room with a huge frown on his face. "What do you think you are doing?" he asked furiously.

Flora stares at him emotionlessly. "Doing what I should have done years ago," she replied, packing her bags.

'But you will die!' Ethan wanted to say. Instead, he asked, "Have you thought of how your actions would affect Hadrian?"

Flora nodded. "I know," she said. Ethan felt his rage increase. He's never been this angry before; his nullifying gem was becoming darker, and his black eyes were slowly turning midnight blue.

Ethan was just about to stop Flora when he felt dizzy and his vision blurred. 'What is going on?' he thought before falling unconscious. Flora caught him before he could fall to the ground.

The door opened, and several people ran in holding various weapons. "I felt a dangerous aura," one of them said.

Flora didn't say anything; instead, she carried Ethan and called one of them. "Blake," she said. "Show Vee where he came from so she can take him back."

"Is that?" Blake said, pointing at Ethan's unconscious body.

"Yes," Flora simply replies.
