Chapter 2: Opportunity

I wasn't nervous or anything I was just shocked that I've made it this far into life. High school was usually where people found themselves or from what I've read in books. Teens coming of age losing their virginities, doing drugs, getting into trouble... you know the basics. I wasn't about "that life" I came with one goal which was to expand my network, gain experience *professionally*, and get through high school in one piece. I ended my 2 year relationship because it was going to get in the way of my studies. (Something I tell myself every now and then to avoid the fact that he broke my heart.)

First things first, who am I? Well my name is a very common name which I one day aspire to change but for now I'm plain old Angie. I've never been confident by the way I look since I was fat growing up, but I hit the gym and lost all the excess weight. People would think I was a model so I hid my perfectly earned body and "pretty face" behind old clothes and ugly glasses. I wasn't confident when it came to things regarding who I was because I never wanted to seem cocky or self-centered.

None of that mattered anyway because what did was that first impressions were everything and I was no where near that. Even though I looked like sloth I had a bright personality and to me that's what counts. Enough of my bantering... the bus arrived to take me to my new private/public school. Blanchard CTE was a new school 10 minutes away from where I lived. Established by people who wanted to give low income students a chance to succeed or couldn't afford to go to college.

The bus was dimly lit. I could make out figures of students half asleep or completely knocked out. Made my way to the center of the bus almost towards the end when the bus driver decided to start and I fell on someone's grumpy lap. I look up to see a pretty boy half awake wondering who the hell I was. Immediately getting up to sit on the side "Hi! I-I'm so sorry the bus driver just decided to go and I fell and now you are awake! Did I mention I was sorry" I said frantically but all I heard in return were his groans and him telling me to shut up and let him sleep. So much for first impressions.

I sat quietly in my seat waiting to arrive at my new school but I couldn't help notice the boy who was beside me. He wasn't a dream boat but someone you could lose yourself into. He had loose curly hair falling on his well structured face, nice thick eyebrows that would accent his beautiful lashes, and nice defined lips. I couldn't help myself and I unconsciously found myself almost brushing away his hair from his eyes until the lights of the bus turned on and I could see a big glass building through the window.

I was there.
