Chapter 40 : Current Situations

In the grand Great Hall of the Royal Palace, distinguished individuals are elegantly lined up on either side of the vast expanse. The hall itself is truly impressive, spanning the size of two football fields and adorned with towering white pillars that exude opulence.

The space is further enhanced by the presence of exquisite, intricately crafted chandeliers that cast a warm glow, accentuating the hall's luxurious ambiance.

At the far end of the hall, a small raised platform beckons attention, with a majestic throne positioned atop it. The throne, a striking centerpiece, boasts a regal crimson hue with intricate dark gold accents that adorn its surface. Delicate carvings adorn the throne, adding to its allure and grandeur.

Seated upon the throne is a strikingly handsome young man with long crimson hair, matching the color of the throne itself. This young man exudes an aura of dominance and regality. He is none other than Nexus, and the throne he occupies was meticulously crafted by Thorgrim using the finest materials available.

Flanking the hall on both sides are the esteemed people of the Kingdom, each wearing a solemn expression as they regard Nexus with a mixture of respect and admiration. Kassius, Severus, Lazar, and a few others stand on the right side, while Brutus, Thorgrim, and other military advisors stand on the left.

Nexus gazes across the hall, acknowledging each person with a subtle nod. Despite the increase in capable individuals in recent months, Nexus understands that there is still much work to be done in order to effectively govern the Kingdom.

Turning his attention to Kassius, who stands at the forefront on the right side, Nexus nods in approval. Kassius steps forward with a serious demeanor, bowing respectfully to Nexus before addressing the gathered assembly with a nod of his own. The exchange of nods signifies a mutual understanding and respect among those present.

" Your Majesty, I am here to provide an update on the current situation and progress of the Kingdom," Kassius addressed Nexus with a respectful tone. Nexus, seated on the throne, nodded in acknowledgment.

"For the past month, all tasks at hand have been successfully completed. The construction team has finished rebuilding and renovating the capital, and the food shortage issue has been resolved following the conclusion of the farming competition. Currently, only the Capital City has been rebuilt, with no progress made in other areas. The election of village heads has been finalized, ensuring that all villages in the Kingdom now have leaders to oversee them. Additionally, individuals have been dispatched to manage administrative affairs in the ten towns, and Blackwood City has a team of administrative personnel in place," Kassius reported, scanning the room before continuing.

"Our primary concern at the moment is the shortage of skilled personnel to fill various positions," Kassius stated, his gaze shifting to Nexus. "Furthermore, Your Majesty, we are facing a financial shortfall."

Nexus's expression turned serious upon hearing this news. The dwindling funds posed a significant challenge, considering the expenses involved in paying workers and maintaining the army.

"How much of the original funds remain?" Nexus inquired, directing his attention to Kassius.

"Your Majesty, we currently have only 5 million gold coins left," Kassius replied.

"And how long will this amount sustain us?" Nexus pressed for further information.

"With our current expenditures, the funds will last us for approximately two to three months," Kassius responded gravely.

Nexus furrowed his brow at this revelation, realizing the financial strain caused by the growing workforce, military expansion, and the need to pay the Kingdom officials. The situation called for careful consideration and strategic planning to ensure the Kingdom's stability and prosperity.

Nexus delved into deep contemplation, realizing that the remaining funds would not sustain them for long. He understood that imposing taxes on the people was not a viable option, as they were already struggling financially. Turning to Kassius, Nexus stated, "Let's set that issue aside for now. I will come up with a solution."

Kassius nodded in agreement, recognizing that the Kingdom's foundation was fragile and the people had only just begun to recover. It was not the appropriate time to burden them with taxes.

"Is there anything else, Grandpa Kassius?" Nexus inquired.

Kassius shook his head, indicating that he had completed his reports. He bowed respectfully to Nexus before returning to his post. Nexus surveyed the crowd below and focused his attention on Lazar.

"Lazar, how is the task I assigned to you progressing?" Nexus asked.

Lazar, standing beside Kassius, took a deep breath and stepped forward, bowing before Nexus.

"Your Majesty, the task has been completed. The agricultural team now has offices in every city, town, and village in the Kingdom. Additionally, we have compiled information on all the farmers in the Kingdom," Lazar reported.

Nexus smiled approvingly. "Have any new farmers registered?"

"Yes, Your Majesty. When the offices opened, not only did we gather information on existing farmers, but new individuals also registered to participate in next year's farming competition," Lazar quickly responded.

"Excellent work, Lazar. You are now appointed as the team leader of the agricultural team. You are responsible for overseeing all agricultural matters in the Kingdom. Expand your team as needed, conduct monthly supervision of the farmers, and report any issues or challenges they face directly to me," Nexus stated firmly, his expression serious as he looked at Lazar.

"Thank you for entrusting me with this responsibility, Your Majesty. I will not disappoint you," Lazar replied, his voice slightly trembling with gratitude.

Nexus nodded and gestured for Lazar to return to his position, which he did respectfully. As he looked out at the crowd, Nexus spoke in a serious tone, "Alright everyone, our current situation isn't looking great. Our finances are in trouble, our foundation is weak, so we need to strengthen ourselves quickly to be prepared for any threats."

The people nodded solemnly, understanding the gravity of the situation. Nexus continued, "Now, let's discuss our plan for the coming months." His voice echoed through the hall as he turned to Thorgrim and called out, "Thorgrim, I need you to lead a team to search for metal mines in the Kingdom. Your expertise in this area is invaluable, so if you find anything, report back to me immediately."

Thorgrim nodded in agreement, showing his understanding and respect for Nexus. Nexus then turned to Brutus, who stood at attention, ready for his instructions. With a wave of his hand, Nexus sent a stack of papers floating towards Brutus. "Follow the instructions on these papers and complete the task within five days," Nexus commanded.

Brutus nodded seriously, showing his commitment to completing the task efficiently. Finally, Nexus turned to Severus and gave him his orders to continue expanding the construction team. "Since the Capital is complete, it's time to rebuild the remaining cities, towns, and villages in the Kingdom. Divide the team, assign leaders, and get to work immediately," Nexus instructed.

Each member of his team understood their role and the importance of their tasks, ready to work together to strengthen the Kingdom.

Nexus turned his gaze to man beside Lazar , this man is in his thirties with a medium build, short black hair, and an honest smile,his name is Thornspell Albanio.

He was one of the few people recommended by Kassius.

" Thornspell I'm going to set up the Cleaning and Sanitation team, your job is to ensure that all garbage and refuse in the towns and villages are taken care of. You must establish offices in every city, town, and village in the Kingdom, empty the waste bins daily, sweep public places, and also start recruiting people into the team " Nexus ordered with an expressionless face.

Thornspell stepped and bowed towards Nexus, " Your Majesty I will fulfill my duties and not let you down " he said in a mild but resolute tone.

Nexus's decision to create the Cleaning and Sanitation team was to keep the Kingdom clean and tidy. In the Astheria World, personal hygiene is often neglected, especially by commoners.

Nexus, coming from Earth in the 21st century, couldn't stand the idea of his Kingdom being dirty and smelly. He wanted to educate people on the importance of personal hygiene.

After giving his orders, Nexus dismissed the court. Everyone bowed and left the hall to complete their tasks. Nexus watched them go, his eyes filled with wisdom as he leaned against his throne.
