One Hundred and Nine

Mary saw her chance the next day.

Her father was reading in the living room. Mercy was no where to be found and their mother had gone to her shopping plaza to see how the sales were coming on and to check that all that was supposed to be supplied was in their right quantity.

She went and sat tentatively at his feet.

'Dad, I wish to discuss something with you', she said.

'Don't tell me you are having problems with your brother again? Where are they by the way?' he asked.

Mary was always at loggerheads with her brothers.

She felt it was mandatory that they respected and obeyed her every whim and command and when they don't, she tries to show of her seniority by flogging them and they never took it lying low because they felt the respect and obedience were not merited.

'No, it is not because of any problem with my brothers. and they have gone to their friends' since they got back from school'.
