Chapter 64

He returned to his office after his first meeting, which started at half past eight in the morning and lasted for nearly three hours. He pinched the bridge of his nose and glared at the ever-increasing pile of folders on his desk. He wished he could burn them all, but he might cause irreversible damage to the company, which would, in turn, result in multiple employees losing their jobs. Then those same employees wouldn’t be able to feed their families or pay their rents on time. He heaved out a sigh and grabbed the first folder from the pile. He sat upright in his chair and began to read every damn page of the business documents found within the folder. Before he realized it, he had succeeded in dealing with three of the folders. He was about to reach for the fourth one when someone knocked on his office door. His irritation faded almost in an instant when David poked his head in after opening the door.

“Hey, Toby.”
