"The elves started increasing import of iron, adamant and other magical metal. If we think logically, they are either working towards gigantic magical project or they are increasing their production of weapons."

At this revelation, I was troubled. The elves had been for the past hundreds of years, slowly but steadily pushing us out of the forest. With all the evidence we have gathered from our history, it was due to a grudge of the past.

During the ancient times, dragons never were the wisest specie. They were hot-blooded due to the lack of social interactions and at one point, it became part of their nature to behave in such a way.

However, it would be a major understatement to say that dragons were hard to kill. We had strong bodies and ridiculous regeneration. As such, only very potent enchanted projectiles could pierce our scales. After a long fight and not the usual ambushes, most dragons would become two-winged porcupines covered in spears and bolts.

Even if they did not have even a percent of their population, individually, adult dragons were a force to be reckoned with. With thousands of years of battles under their belts, they were, under normal circumstances, unstoppable slaughter-machine.

The thing that allowed elves to win the small skirmishes was their great coordination.

Even with all of these advantages, in the recent years we had been at a stalemate, going back and forth between different strategic locations. In the long run, we were still pushed back due to their clever contraptions and their large number.

"If they can build permanent forts, the situation would get quite dire," Said my brother. After all, he was the spearhead of our territory and knew the situation better than anyone.

"Do you have a solution?" asked my father to my brother. I was, like usual, ignored as I was not even a century old. I was still very green.

"We can only watch them from afar before going on the offensive. We can't attack them without locating their location. Furthermore, we still have a few years before they resume their attacks. They should get most of their forces to assist them in their new endeavour" Replied my brother, rather confident in his predictions.

"We will discuss the details later" As my father said this, butlers and maids came in bringing forth iron trays filled with plates covered in iron lids.

We started eating and I then went back to my room.

After this day, a few months quickly passed. During this time, I continued my daily routine: attending social meetings, studying.

There were still a few days left before I underwent the awakening trial.

I was soon going to meet my teacher and learn magic with him for the next few years. As such, we had been warned about his approach by the city guards.

I was standing behind the doors of my mansion, waiting for the awaited teacher to enter my family domain.

I thus started thinking about the knowledge I had learnt from magicians and adventurers around the city.

To learn magic, it was beneficial to have a balanced amount of theory and practice.

Magic wasn't just about crunching formulas and runes on a piece of paper. It was an art that took centuries to master unless one had proper guidance.

Such guidance could be found at academies by meeting the desired criteria such as reaching a certain level of refinement and being under a certain age to only pick the most talented students.

The bell ringed, warning me about the entrance of my teacher. Me and my parents opened the door and went to greet the magician.
