The Last Good Day

After getting on base everything seemed fine those of us here. The better way to put it would be those of us that made it here. At a video briefing we learned that soldiers from three states had been called to here and one other nearby base. Half of us had been killed by rioters who had tossed Molotov's into the helicopters killing the pilot and everyone inside. From what we could tell if anyone survived they finished them off by removing their masks.

Being exposed to this virus is the worst fate you could have with our current reality. Not much is known about it right now, but they have scientists working on it. We hope to have some cure or more knowledge about this virus. Hopefully we can find a way to live with it someday. I think that it will be after I have already died that things will get better.

Throughout the week I was on base the leadership was worried about a civil war breaking out between the four factions. This came after the rioters got reclassified as a terror cell. Which was known after how they started blowing up streets and burning buildings. Nothing was looking good for the future of our country. They said we might get deployed to open battle soon.

It was already decided that it would be in New York if we did. No one even knew that the military and all government officials had lost New York to the rioters in the first place. If we did have to fight in New York then it would be the first time being that far north. I grew up in the south and stayed there until I had been deployed to the middle east.

All we did was train until the day where the news came. It was decided that we are at war with the other factions after talks fell through in California and no talks could be had with the nomads. We already knew the rioters wouldn't talk peace so it wasn't even attempted. That wasn't to say we would be fighting right now, but it was a step to an answer. That was until the intercom brought the answer to us, but not to any of our surprises.

"YOU WILL ALL BE DEPLOYED TO A FORWARD OPERATING BASE IN NEW JERSEY BEFORE GETTING SUPPLIED AND MOVING INTO NEW YORK. GOOD LUCK."
