Shortly after, all the junior-grade students departed, leaving behind the auditorium filled with senior mutants who were about to graduate.
All eyes were fixed on Lynn.
"What's happening? Why did the principal suddenly ask us to gather?"
"Recruitment? What kind of recruitment?"
"Is it for selecting new X-Men members?"
"Could we join the X-Men and go on missions like the teachers?"
"If that's the case... why would Lynn be the one to choose?"
"Where are the teachers?"
As they whispered amongst themselves, there was a sudden thunderclap in the sky. They witnessed a figure in black clothes with white hair moving swiftly along with the wind, and in an instant, the figure landed in front of everyone.
"Teacher Ororo!" Everyone exclaimed.
Envy and reverence appeared in the eyes of many, for she was Storm. After she landed, she gave Lynn a peculiar look.
Then she scanned the audience. "This is not a selection for the X-Men, but Lynn is about to embark on a secret mission. The professor asked him to select a few teammates amongst you all."
"A secret mission?" Everyone was momentarily stunned, but soon their excitement grew.
In their eyes, participating in Professor Charles' secret mission at this time would undoubtedly be an advantage when the X-Men eventually started their official selection process.
Even John's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. "Lynn, choose me!"
"And me!"
Someone at the scene eagerly looked at Lynn and then recommended himself.
Lynn smiled. These people were somewhat familiar to him. Although not as close as Kitty and Jubilee, they usually exchanged greetings when they met on campus.
While someone else might choose based on familiarity, Lynn had a different approach. A team required dependable members, so he valued character, intelligence, and obedience more than superpowers. Those like John were ruled out from the start.
Amid everyone's watchful eyes, Lynn looked around and said lightly, "Those who received a B evaluation in the dream exam last night, except for Kitty and Jubilee, stand up... and the rest can leave."
"How do you know I dreamed about the exam last night?"
"How did you know..."
Several people had similar doubts on their faces, but before they could finish speaking, they were all stunned.
"Did you also dream about it?"
"You also took the exam?"
"What was it about?"
"I don't remember clearly, but it seemed to be about surviving at the end of the world."
"Humanity used a new type of weapon that wiped out mutants. The surviving mutants hid in a secret base, and we were the last soldiers, facing the instructor's test?"
"The assessment involved leaving the base, getting surrounded by enemies, and struggling to survive?!"
"Damn it!"
"Damn!!"
Voices echoed one after another, and everyone was shocked to discover that they had all dreamt the same thing the night before. The only difference was the assessment results.
"An assessment in a dream?!"
Storm was also shocked and immediately looked at Lynn with disbelief in her eyes.
Although the professor had told her that Lynn had been hiding his true abilities, she couldn't believe that Lynn could manipulate the dreams of more than thirty mutants simultaneously.
It had nothing to do with the strength of their abilities. Instead... this was happening right under Professor Charles' nose!
Storm knew well that, at least until this morning, Professor Charles had shown no particular interest in Lynn. In other words, whatever happened last night, Professor Charles wasn't aware of it.
He was the world's foremost Telepath. How was this possible?!
"What exactly happened when Lynn entered the headmaster's office for two hours..."
"He clearly discussed something with Professor Charles just now, but last night, he gave these students a dream assessment..."
"What does this mean?"
"This young student had already foreseen this situation."
"He was confident that the principal would agree to his request."
Realizing this, Storm was left astounded.
Lynn was also her student, calm, composed, and secretive, while the students before her were in a state of shocked disarray.
This suddenly made her feel helpless.
She couldn't help but shout, "Quiet!"
Lightning crackled in the sky.
Everyone's scalps tingled, and it felt as if static electricity surrounded them. They quickly composed themselves and looked at Storm.
"As Lynn said, those who received a B rating or above should stand up."
They looked at each other in bewilderment. One figure after another stood up.
"Iceman" Bobby, "Colossus" Peter, "Sunspot" Roberto...
Calvin the Mimic, Kevin the Shapeshifter...
Lucas Bishop, who could absorb energy, and Petra, who could manipulate the earth.
There were seven in total. All future X-Men, the elite of mutants.
This was quite normal, actually. Although Professor X was a benevolent figure, he was also heavily influenced by the idea of elite education. Among the students saved by the Xavier Academy, most displayed potential. None were Epsilon-level mutants with weak abilities and major flaws.
This was also the reason why mutants with odd appearances tended to follow Magneto.
From this perspective, Academy X was brimming with talent.
"Bobby, Peter..."
Storm watched as Iceman and Colossus stepped forward, a smile forming on her face, but her anxiety soon resurfaced.
She quickly glanced at Lynn. "Lynn, you can't take all seven of them!"
The X-Men also needed to recruit new members, and all seven of the best students were now selected by Lynn. What would they do?
She knew that if these people left, they might never return!
"Don't worry, Teacher Ororo. I have a sense of proportion."
Lynn smiled, and his gaze fell on Colossus and the others. "I never like to force others, and whether you accept this task is entirely up to you... If you want to accept it, go back to the dormitory to pack your things, and if you don't want to go, you can leave now."
