Chapter 3: Party

The windows of the common living room on the first floor of Hope Apartment had been sealed off with black plastic bags by Jason and two freshmen, making it easier for the simply decorated lights to create a dreamy ambiance. The rented sound system was now blasting energetic disco music, and forty-something men and women were swaying to the tunes, occasionally engaging in hushed conversations. Although Jason had initially focused on inviting girls, in the end, nearly half of the students who came were guys.

However, the attendance of around twenty girls had Jason incredibly excited because within just a few minutes, several girls had already complimented him on hosting a cool event, saying it was more attractive than the welcome party thrown by their department.

To prevent getting busted by the campus police and apartment managers, all the beer was stored in large plastic containers marked as free juice, each fitted with a self-service valve.
