CHAPTER 25 - YOU NEED TO LEARN TO ACT CUTE.

Lucian and Nate entered the cottage quietly...

"Aaah... I smell food..." Nate exclaimed with a wide grin, while Lucian looked somehow glumly.

The strange magic was dense here, and it kept emanating from his grandmother's room. He was worried...something must be happening or his grandmother wouldn't sort to this method...

"You're back..."

A soothing voice came from the kitchen. Lucian looked in its direction. He already knew it was his mother. Sometimes he wished he could see her face, and read all her facial expressions, whether she wore a smiling face or a sad face. He so wished he could see all of them.

Anna came out of the kitchen, seeing the two boys, she creased her brows...

"You both look like...you had a hell of a training today... You don't have to go so hard on yourselves and Nate why do you have so many wounds??? Come here..." Anna ordered Nate looking sincerely worried.

" Aunt Anna, don't worry...these are called the marks of a warrior..." Nate said and made a fist to show his tiny muscles...

Anna chuckled...

" But what happened? What kind of training have you two been having? Did Lucian do this to you??" Anna asked and turned to look at Lucian, but the look on Lucian's face made her cringe from worry. Lucian must have sensed what Liz was doing. Guess she would have to explain to him later. There was no point hiding their predicament anymore.

"Ooh no he didn't, little god is not stronger than me...He can't hurt me" Nate said looking smug.

Lucian rolled his eyes, and Anna laughed.

"Yes, our Nate is the strongest..." Anna responded amidst laughter.

" Mother am the one who's your son here remember... You never flatter me at all..." Lucian said with a pout.

"Well, whose fault is it?? You never act as cute as Nate...you act like an old man all the time, how could I flatter you..." Anna responded with a shrug.

"hahaha..." Nate burst into laughter

"....." Lucian was speechless. He must look for a new mother. And of course, a new best friend.

'hahaha...little guy your mother is right...you should learn to act cute too. Sometimes I feel like am in an old man's head....' Raphael's voice rang in Lucian's head making him even more speechless...

He must get rid of Raphael too.

Anna attended to Nate's wounds, luckily they were just mild ones. She then shoved both of them into the bathhouse to wash up.

Liz had still not stepped out, and she was starting to get worried. Should she have talked her out of this? And then what were they going to do... If she Lost Liz, she wouldn't know how to live again.

From the castle to here, in valley town was quite far. It could take about a week depending on the speed, and she had no idea where they were starting the journey from, or if they had already set off... They had to be prepared for anything, and she would have to inform Lucian no matter how much she wanted her son to stay out of this. It was just her wishful thinking, how could Lucian stay out of all these?? He wasn't normal too.

Lucian and Nate had come out looking fresh and clean. Anna had already fetched their food for them, though she was sure the boys must have eaten not long ago. That breakfast was not enough and judging from how exhausted they looked, they would need some more.

After eating Nate bid them goodbye and left. He had to go back home, or his mother might go mad. And he wasn't stupid, he realized the mother and son had something to discuss among themselves. It was better to give them that space.

In the cottage, Anna and Lucian were sitting alone in the parlor.

"Mother, what is going on? Where is grandmother?" Lucian asked turning serious.

"Well, I guess you've already sensed something strange here...the thing is, your grandmother is practicing sorcery. I don't know much about it either, but I assure you it is not to harm us but to protect us..."

Anna said waiting to see Lucian's reaction, but to her surprise, her son didn't look surprised at all. Had he known already... She thought, but continued anyway...

" Lucian, people are searching for me... People from the palace... I once told you I used to live in the palace, am a princess...no once a princess. I was given to marriage to a man I had not seen before by my father. On the way, I found out I was only going to be a sacrificial lamb, hence I escaped... Lucian, my father had never stopped searching for me since then and he will never stop until he finds me. I believe they'd be coming to this town soon. So Liz has no other choice but to use sorcery to protect us..." Anna spoke looking somber.

"But will she be alright...I mean the sorcery, what if it harms her..."

"How could it harm me? Am stronger than you both think you know..." A voice suddenly came from behind.

They both turned their heads in that direction. Liz looked so pale...but luckily Lucian couldn't see that. He realized the mist surrounding his grandmother's soul had become very thick. That was the magical essence in everyone, and hers was looking very thick, meaning she was practicing magic.

'Raphael, does my grandmother look fine?? You know I can't see her face. And if I ask her, I know she'll say she's fine... Tell me, does she look fine...' Lucian asked Raphael. He was getting worried, and he wasn't going to believe what these women were going to say.

' She's looking fine... Don't worry the sorcery won't hurt her... For worst, it will only exhaust her...' Raphael said, lying and telling the truth at the same time... Liz was not looking good. And it was probably because she was getting old...

Raphael didn't want to stir up Lucian's emotions, or that could wake the devil in him. He needed to make sure the boy had a stable mind.
