Compromise

After the new bandages were wrapped, Damien laid back down to rest and heal. He wanted Safira to accompany him, but she had things to do.

"I'm going to get us some food," she said before kissing him on the forehead.

Damien's eyelids were heavy. He mumbled under his breath as he slowly drifted off to sleep. He looked so comfortable and at ease, Safira could not help but smile. She quietly exited the room and headed down the hallway.

She was surprised to find Seth walking away. She sped up, hoping to catch him.

"Beta Seth!" She called out to him.

He didn't stop for her as he kept on walking. She didn't give up either. She eventually caught up to him.

"Are you ignoring me?" She asked outright.

Her words stopped him in his tracks. He turned to her. She was familiar with that look in his eyes. The way he saw her had not changed since the first moment they met. It was a look of scrutiny.

"I do not answer to you," he snapped back.
