Alpha's Rebellious Mate

“Who are you? What are you doing here?” Alpha Rofus asked in a cold and serious tone, staring at the young woman in front of him. A young woman who caused his heart to race instantly. “Stay away from me! Please, I am scared of you!” She was sobbing already. “Calm down. I won’t hurt you,” he said before disappearing into the woods. “She is our mate...” his inner wolf whispered in his mind, something he was not expecting to happen. She? A mate? But she’s a human! Seeking solace from her mother’s hasty decision to remarry shortly after her father’s death, Amelia flees into the forbidden Forester Woods, unaware that her impulsive escape will lead to an encounter with Rofusio Melbore, the newly appointed Alpha of the Blazepaw Guardians pack. Overcome by an undeniable connection, he instinctively reaches out to comfort her, wiping away her tears. Numerous thoughts

After dinner, Rofus immediately disappeared from our sight. I didn't even choose to ask Nikita where he went. She might think that I am so interested in his details, which is quite true as he looks mysterious to me. After we ate, the maidservant brought and accompanied us to the room where we were going to sleep. It was on the second floor of the mansion. While heading there, I couldn't stop admiring the beauty of all the decorations, which, even though they appeared antique and old, were fascinating to my eyes. From the large window of the room, made of expensive thick glass, I can see the wide yard of the mansion with many trees. I don't know, but watching them silently, I feel like I'm right inside the Forester Woods. Or maybe it's just me who's thinking about that?

"What are you still doing there? You should change your clothes, and let's go to bed. We're leaving early tomorrow."

When I heard Nikita's voice, I looked at her and smiled. She was already lying on the bed. Still holding the bag, I stepped closer to her. I didn't take my eyes off her eyes. I know I am a bit thrilled about this sleepover, as this is my first time.

"Nikita, can I ask you something?"

I turned her while gently sitting in front of her.

"Yes? What is it?"

"Why did you choose to live in a small apartment instead of staying at your cousin's house? This mansion is big enough and has a lot of spare rooms. I bet they don't mind if you stay here with them. It was also near our university."

I knew it was far from her command to change my clothes, but I couldn't stop my curiosity or my mouth from expressing my opinion. If she responded to my questions, that's good; if she didn't, there's no problem. I will not force her anyway. She slowly got up when she heard my question. She silently fixed a strand of her hair and tucked it behind her ear. After that, she turned to me and shrugged her shoulders.

"My reason is so simple, Amelia. I want privacy. And I am sure I could get that when I own a small flat."

I respected her answer and did not repeat it again. It was enough for me to hear that. I reached for my bag and took out a pair of my pajama suit.

"How about you, Nikita? Won't you change?"

"Of course, I will change my clothes when you're done. That's why you need to hurry to use the bathroom."

"You did not bring any clothes with you."

"I have a lot of that in the closet." She pointed to a closet that I didn't notice behind me.

I wanted to ask her a lot more, but I chose not to. I just shrugged my shoulders and stood up. I can see a different level of tiredness in her eyes. It looks like she will fall asleep at any moment.

"Okay, I'm just going to the bathroom quickly."

"Hold on, Amelia, do you have a towel with you?"

"No, nothing. I forgot to bring—"

I couldn't even finish what I was going to say when she got up and headed towards the closet. When she opened it, I saw that it was full of different sizes of towels.

"Here, use this one."

I accepted it with my mouth shut and headed to the bathroom. Before entering, I was stunned again when she spoke.

"Take soap and shampoo from the upper part of the cabinet to the left corner of the bathroom area."

"Okay."

If Nikita does just a few more of those things, I'll start to believe that she owns the room. Aside from the fact that she is aware of the locations of the other things, she appears to be at ease in this environment. I was unable to stop thinking about the possibility that it was in Nikita's room when I was in the shower. Given their familial ties to Rofus, such a scenario is not impossible.

"I am done, Nikita."

As soon as I emerged from the bathroom, she leapt to her feet. Wherever she went, my eyes followed her every move. Nikita went to a different closet, and when she returned, she was holding a pajama set that was almost identical to the one I was wearing. I gave it some more thought. It looks like the room we are going to sleep in now is hers.

"Amelia, what's the matter? What gives you the urge to stare at me like that? Have I just done something strange?"

Before I opened my mouth, I gave it a brief pause.

"Come on, Nikita; this must be your room, right?"

Nikita quickly shook her head. My smiles disappeared. It looks like I'm wrong, but I have a strong hunch that this room belongs to her. And I don't know how to prove it.

"No. But let's say this is the room I often sleep in and use when I come here. Does that mean this room is mine?"

I frowned. Sometimes she talks really vaguely. Probably, that's why I'm asking—I want to know if the room is really hers, right? Why would she ask me the same thing?

"Forget what I asked. Fix yourself, and we'll go to bed when I get out. I'll just take a quick shower," she said as she passed me.

Nikita did not take long in the shower area. Maybe it only took ten minutes, and she was done. Whoaa! She's fast!

"Nikita, can I ask a question?"

"About what?"

We have both already gone to bed, but neither of us has fallen asleep just yet. I felt that she was sleepy due to the heavy breathing, but I didn't seem tired earlier. Nikita's series of yawns further proved that. I don't know what happened, but after I took a shower, I found that I was no longer sleepy. It disappeared into thin air.

"Does your cousin have a sibling?"

"What do you mean, Amelia? Is there a problem?" In her voice, that would not end the doubt in my questions.

"I mean, doesn't he have a twin or—"

Before I finished my sentence, I could hear her snoring loudly. Nikita is already dozing off. She was unable to respond to my question.

"He looks like that guy I told you about who I saw inside Forester Woods earlier."

Even though she couldn't hear because she was already asleep, I added. I attempted to close my eyes. I'd like to sleep as well. My eyelids are heavy, but my mind almost refuses to be with me. A lot of things kept coming to mind.

"Please let me sleep and put me to bed. I'm tired."

I turned around in bed a few times, but nothing changed; I still didn't feel sleepy, despite the fact that I knew I was very sleepy. That's the kind of sleep I crave, but my body refuses to cooperate. I'm sure Mom was doing it at the time, which is why I couldn't sleep. She's probably wondering where I am right now, and I don't have plans to go home tonight.

"Amelia, what time is it? Why are you still awake? I thought you were tired earlier."

"Sleep will not visit me anymore, Nikita."

Nikita stood up and went to the bathroom to use it. And she noticed that I was still awake with my eyes completely open.

"All you need to do is flip your pillow over, and you'll have a good night's sleep guaranteed."

I did as she instructed me to do. After a short period of time, Nikita's recommendation proved to be successful. I suddenly became aware of drowsiness pulling at me, and I noticed that my eyes were beginning to close. That is, until I became aware that I had already fallen asleep as if there were nothing to worry about.
