Alpha's Rebellious Mate

“Who are you? What are you doing here?” Alpha Rofus asked in a cold and serious tone, staring at the young woman in front of him. He seems normal

After about half an hour of staying inside the room doing nothing, I decided to leave the room. Aside from being hungry, I am also thirsty. I can't stand it anymore. If I do not go get a glass of water right now, I might become dehydrated. Every step I take is light so that I do not disturb them or draw their attention if they are at a dining table. It is already dark outside, as seen through the slightly open door to my room's window.

Perhaps Nikita has already waited for me so that we can have dinner together. It isn't very pleasant if I make myself an important visitor to her apartment. She had previously advised me to make myself at home. That is exactly what I am going to do now.

After closing the door of my room, I cast some glances at her occupied room. I looked there for a few minutes. I wonder if I will knock or not. I noticed that she was not inside the apartment, and my suspicion was proved correct when I heard their loud laughter in the backyard of her apartment. Nikita and Rofus were in the backyard. They are not inside.

I guess her cousin Rofus is still here. He did not leave yet. I started to get nervous for some unknown reason.

Come on, Amelia. What are you doing? Why are you so tense?

After a heavy sigh, I shrugged my shoulder, not minding his presence. I look more tense now, but I shouldn't show it to him. I can't show that I'm not comfortable around him.

"Goodness, Amelia! It's good that you already got out of your room!" Nikita jokingly exclaimed when she saw me walking towards them, waving her hands. It was one of her mannerisms.

I just give her a shy smile.

"Come here quick, and let's eat our dinner," she added, making me more uncomfortable because I knew Rofus was watching my every move. "I thought you fell asleep, so I did not get inside your room to check. You said you would just change your clothes? You stayed longer, Amelia!"

I forced another smile at what she stated and hurriedly walked towards them. Rofus, fell silent when he saw me. His reactions changed as if I had not heard him laugh earlier. He is sitting in front of Nikita while his legs are crossed. He was sitting like a boss.

"You sit here, Amelia." Nikita tapped the chair next to her, which made my head nod as if I were a robot. "You see? The food that my cousin brought for us just got cold because of you." she gave me an eye roll, slightly blaming me. "Tell me, what did you do inside?"

I ignored her question and followed what she wanted me to do. I sat next to her after giving a brief glance at our visitor. When I met Rofus eyes scrutinizing my appearance, I gave him a shy smile. I can't explain the thrill that I felt inside my body. I did not entertain that. I am just nervous.

"Oh? I thought you two needed some time to talk about the most important topic that I shouldn't have heard." I replied, not minding their reaction.

When I look up to see Nikita's reaction, I notice Rofus' gaze fixed on my face. Do I have any dirt on my face?

I tried to avoid his eyes because they made me nervous. Perhaps I am just uncomfortable in his presence because I am not accustomed to it. Right, I am just uncomfortable because I am not used to it, not because his stares convey so many different meanings.

"It is not that important, Amelia." Nikita waved her hands at me again.

I just give a nod. I don't want to steal their moments. I am sure they are talking.

"Where are we in what we were discussing earlier, Rofus?"

Do you see my point?

They are talking about something.

Nikita shifted her focus to him.

"I had also forgotten. Better yet, you should both eat right now." Rofus motions toward the foods in front of us, saying, "I am leaving. I still have to go somewhere."

Nikita and I followed the way he stood up. I didn't take my eyes off him. I was intrigued by what he said. He is tall. Looking at him makes me feel like I am looking up at a tall tree.

"Where are you going?" Nikita suddenly asked him.

"It's none of your business, Nikita."

"Oh? Rofus, there is something fishy about this. Do you have a date?" it sounds teasing at the same time serious.

Rofus just gave his cousin a grin.

"No. But if I told you, will you come with me?" he playfully replied Nikita.

"Nope. You must go alone. As you can see, I am quite busy. I am just asking you as a curious cat. Are you not going to have dinner before you leave?"

He vehemently shook his head. He gave me another glance.

"No, Nikita. I don't have a choice but to tell you that the place I am heading is the restaurant. I am going to meet someone there. Eating dinner is part of our deal. You two should consume everything I bought. It should not have any leftovers that will spoil later. Do not let the food go to waste.

"Alright, I thought you would eat here with us, so you bought some food."

He made no response to Nikita. He sighed and then turned his back. My eyes followed him. Watching his every move made me wonder about many things about him. He didn't even look back until he was out of the gate and completely disappeared from our sight.

"Rofus is gone, we should eat now."

I nodded sheepishly, despite the fact that Rufos' gaze lingered in my mind.

"Thank you, Nikita. Seeing your cousin here was surprising, but it also piqued my interest in him."

Nikita did not say anything, but I am certain she heard what I said. However, I did not repeat my words. It is clear that she does not want us to discuss things like this, particularly about him. I respect that. That is why I did not bring it up again to get her response.

"Which part of him are you interested in, Amelia?" Nikita spoke to me unexpectedly in the middle of our dinner.

"His whole existence."

"From your perspective, does he appear normal or not?"

I was taken aback for a moment.

"Yes, he is. He seems normal."

That's a lie. For me, he is not normal.

"Amelia, would you like to find out more about him?" there was a bit of a challenge in the tone of her voice.

"What do you mean?"

"Just answer yes or no. I am willing to help you if you would like to do that."

"No, Nikita. Please do not mind me." I replied in a serious tone, "I am just curious, but I do not want to dig up his personal information without his permission."

"Sure, I respect your decision. However, if you have any questions about him, please ask me."
