King of Werewolves

While Raygan laid unconscious on the ground, her breathing silent and irregular, the two wolves faced each other, their bodies tense with the anticipation of the coming battle. Their eyes glistened with fury, as they both stared at each other. One of the wolves stood on its hind legs. He had pure jet black coloured fur, as his razor-sharp claws glistened in the ominous light of the moon.

The other wolf was on all fours, but his gigantic frame matched that of the wolf standing on its hind legs. The wolf on all fours had a beautiful fur colour, a mixture of black and white.

"She Is My Prey!" the wolf with the black fur growled as he puffed his chest in an attempt to appear taller than his gigantic rival.

The wolf on his all fours stood horizontally in front Raygan's unconscious body before growling at the black one. "These are my lands. I Don't recall giving you permission to hunt here Lycan." He telecommunicated as he stared down at the lycanthrope who stood before him. The land belonged to the werewolves, and following the human's scent, one of the lycanthropes had dared venture into enemy territory.

The two creatures were no different, just a race of shapeshifter wolves, but one of them was a gigantic wolf who turned only on the day of the full moon, while the other could do it any time of the day it wanted to, and stood on two legs.

'Are you the esteemed king of werewolves?' The black lycanthrope asked, his tone full of glee.

The black and white wolf circled around Raygan and stood in a defensive stance. He took a deep breath, trying to sense the depth of threat that stood in front of him. There were not one but two more lycanthropes in the vicinity, and only one call was enough to bring them here. 'This is your last warning to leave my land,' the werewolf king telecommunicated. He would be cornered and alone if the other lycanthropes were brought here.

The lycanthrope sniffed the air as he brought his long tongue out maliciously. His tongue watered as the saliva dripped to the ground before he slurped his tongue inside and bared his teeth, 'My liege would be pleased to know I killed the ruler of the werewolves.'

The werewolf king knew what was coming next. They stood near the outskirts of the kingdom of werewolves and the one at disadvantage was the king.

Before the king of werewolves could formulate a counter plan, the lycanthrope sent out a summoning howl. It was enough to alert the others in the surrounding areas. The two other lycanthropes, closely circling the area, heard the howl of one of their pack member and rushed through the bushes in the direction of the sound.

This is bad, thought the king of werewolves.

It was not that he wouldn't be able to take care of these measly lycanthropes on his own, but right now he also wanted to protect this person who was lying unconscious on the ground. No matter how much he wanted to fight, at the moment, the girl on the ground was a dead weight for him. He turned to look at the girl who lay without moving and wondered why she had not changed during the night of the full moon.

There were no humans who existed here. The ones who existed were either taken in by the vampires or chewed down to their bones by the lycanthropes.

This was not a realm where the humans dominated, this was a dimension where the supernatural existed and fought for part and peace of their land. Raygan was led into this dimension by the owl and right now her life was hanging by its last thread.

'Adelio, remember today,' the lycanthrope telecommunicated, 'this is your last day. Tomorrow my liege will take over your land and forever make werewolves of our slaves.'

The werewolf king, Adelio Adalwolfa, shook his head, as he continued to stare calmly. 'let me see you weaklings try.'

That small sentence was enough to ignite the blazing fire inside the lycanthrope. He ran towards the werewolf king, ready with his razor-sharp claws, glistening in the moonlight. He did not wait for the other two lycanthropes to come there for help and attacked Adelio, the king of werewolves. Adelio wasn't a king for no reason, even though he turned into his wolf only on the night of the full moon he had trained enough to take on any opponent who came to challenge his rule.

What was one mere lycanthrope in front of him?

Adelio turned to face the lycanthrope who charged at him and before the black wolf could attack, Adelio reeled himself up, such that his forelegs raise in the air and thumped against the lycanthrope's chest.

The blow was enough to send the black lycanthrope tumbling back towards the ground.

He stood back up with a snarl, 'How dare you! A mere werewolf king thinks he could challenge me!' he glared as he bared his fangs at Adelio.

The lycanthropes held themselves in high esteem as they could shift any time of the day or night, but a full moon night was the most favourable time. At the moment, both the lycanthropes who had heard the call from the one fighting Adelio emerged from the bushes. This was not a favourable scenario and Adelio knew that saving this human was more important. Even werewolves preyed on humans, but there were a few who had managed to grasp control over their beastly desires.

'Let's make our liege proud today,' the black lycanthrope communicated to the other brown ones who arrived there as backup, 'Let's take down the rule of the werewolves today.'

'Our liege will be extremely pleased with us today,' one the brown lycanthrope said, as he stood on his hind legs and bared his teeth.

The other lycanthrope stared at Adelio and then assessed the situation. The king was not waiting here to face them directly, rather he was protecting someone. 'Must be very precious to him,' whispered the other brown lycanthrope to herself. It was a girl lycanthrope, and she slowly stood up before sharpening her claws. Her eyes weren't fixed on Adelio but on the girl who laid on the ground. The one who the werewolf king was protecting and the one who smelled like a human.

The black lycanthrope ran towards Adelio again and this time he grabbed Adelio by his claws, sinking them deep into his collarbone.

Adelio whimpered at the sudden wound that had formed on him, but this was not anything fatal. As the black lycanthrope had attacked from the front, Adelio shifted his entire weight, using the attacker's weight for his counterattack, and grabbed the black wolf's neck.

In an instant, the black lycanthrope started to whine as he released his claws out of Adelio's skin, in agony. But Adelio did not let go of the lycanthrope and let his teeth sink into the lycanthrope's broad neck.

'Foolish werewolf!' the black one communicated in anger and frustration.

He wasn't expecting Adelio to be this strong, but little did he know that Adelio was no hierarchical king but one who won by sparring in countless battles.

Adelio used all his strength to lift the lycanthrope by its neck and hurl him to the ground.

Seeing this, the brown lycanthrope who had come here on signal moved forward and attacked Adelio by running up and jumping on Adelio's back. It was the toughest spot for a werewolf to reach, but without any hesitation, Adelio let go of the black lycanthrope and fell onto his back, putting his entire weight on the attacker.

Adelio was stronger than all the lycanthropes who stood in front of him. The impact of a big werewolf on the brown lycanthrope's chest was big enough to break a rib.

Size was a massive difference between werewolves and lycanthropes and Adelio knew it very well.

It was the full moon night today and not even the king of lycanthropes could take over Adelio tonight. Werewolves were the strongest during this time, which came once every 14 days. As the brown lycanthrope failed to handle the pressure and the pain of breaking its own rib, he let go of Adelio. It was a one-sided battle even if the enemies were more in number. Adelio jumped up as soon as the brown lycanthrope let go of him and, in one bite, ripped off his throat.

The brown lycanthrope's body squirmed for a while before the body dropped to the ground, cold and lifeless.

This was bad, thought the black lycanthrope. Owing to the sudden shift in the air, he had greatly underestimated his opponent.

Adelio whimpered as blood dripped from his body because of the claws which had pierced and scratched his skin but the wounds were healing as he had Alpha blood running through his veins. The mere omega lycanthropes in front of him were nothing as compared to the werewolf king.

The black lycanthrope grunted as he got up to stand again. His eyes fell on his fellow pack member, who was lying dead on the ground, his throat ripped out and body lifeless.

Adelio bared his fangs and warned the lycanthrope a final time, 'this is the last I will tell you to leave the outskirts of my land.' Since these were the outskirts, it was easy for the lycanthropes to enter here. But today was a bad day for them.

The black one turned his head to see his other fellow clan member standing, just watching the show.

'What do you think you are doing? Come here and fight!' the black one growled as he telecommunicated, 'look he lost his life because you chose to stay out of the battle Suri.'

Suri looked at the black lycanthrope who was clearly superior to her but lacked the brains which she had.

She got down on all four slowly walking ahead, 'yes yes, let me join you.' Her response was calm and collected for someone on the losing side of the battle. She circled the werewolf king without moving her observant eyes away from him.

Adelio prepared himself to take both of them at the same time as he raised his neck and stood taller than brown-furred Suri, coming to the same height as the standing black lycanthrope, 'I won't be listening to your begging after this.' Hearing Adelio say this the black lycanthrope enraged and came forward to attack the werewolf king again. His patience was wearing off and it was an enormous blow to his ego that a mere werewolf was able to overpower him.

The lycanthropes were always told they were the superior species. Stronger, faster and better shapeshifters than werewolves. But today was proving it all wrong.

Adelio growled as he saw the approaching lycanthrope. It ignited a resolve inside him to show the omega his place. Anger and ego went hand in hand with both the species and no one was ready to back away now.

Both the wolves went for each other fiercely, clawing and biting at each other. Overpowering one another by taking turns, in an effort to assert dominance.

At one moment, the black lycanthrope was on top and tried to strangle Adelio while at another moment, faster than the blink of an eye, Adelio switched the position, thumping his forelegs heavily on the lycanthrope. It was a fierce battle and no one was ready to back off. Their fur was stained red with all the blood which flowed from the open wounds.

'I will bury you alive,' the black lycanthrope growled but his efforts were futile.

Adelio had already overpowered him easily and had his throat in his jaws. All that was left to do was rip it off.

'Stop,' they both heard a voice in their head and Adelio turned to look to his left while still holding onto the black lycanthrope's throat. 'Let him go or I kill her,' Suri said as she held Raygan's unconscious body in her claws.
