RAIN
The cold drink burns my throat as it goes down.
Liam's chuckle makes me look up from the grimace that has me closing my eyes. "Take it easy."
"I don't want to take it easy tonight," I say, downing another shot. I go for another one before he takes it and drinks it, which makes me laugh as I lean on him.
"Fun?" he asks looking at me with heated eyes.
I have never seen Liam like this. He is used to being serious and businesslike, and the dangerous aura that's always around him makes it hard for me to imagine that he is only 22 years old.
But as we are surrounded by people, the LED lights bouncing off us, and heavy, loud music playing, I see it. The aura is still there, the tilting darkness, the wildness is still there, but it's heightened.
I take his hand, even as I feel the effect of alcohol starting to overtake me. My body starts to feel warmth and jelly-like I can laugh so easily, have fun, and have no care in the world.
