Chapter 99 - Embrace It

"For a while now I've been taking things slow," I began, moving my gaze around the room. "Or at least as slow I could take it, trying to do things in an ordinary way, and as best as I could, but the summoning I did yesterday changed a lot for me."

That was an understatement if I was being honest. The summoning had made me realize something very important about not just the way I saw going about things, but my system, and summons in general.

"Escalation. Ever since I began in this world things have been escalating every other day. I started in the middle of a forest and within a week of that I became king, with power far beyond anything I could have ever imagined, and then two days later, my power increase drastically once again and my thoughts and plan shifted. Then for a short time, things seemed to stabilize, but then yesterday happened and has made me realize something."

I took a deep breath and moved my gaze over the room, meeting everyone's eyes.

"I've gone about this all wrong, or at least I think I have. I never truly thought about it until yesterday. Some of the potential summons I could get as I grow stronger are at a level of power that can only be described as godlike."

I let out a sigh as I got to the main reason. "I do all this work and make all these plans, then a summon comes along and makes all of it useless, not that it's the summons fault, don't ever think that. I'm grateful for all of you, but I'm starting to realize that I should be placing a bigger focus on leveling up and getting more summons because that is the best way to improve this kingdom. I've been taking it slow when I should be figuring out ways to grind levels and gain more tokens because what's the point of making all these plans when a summon will just come along and trivialize all of it."

"What your saying makes sense," Lelouch said. "And you are correct in that we should be focusing on leveling up and you should be focusing on gaining more summons and also leveling up, but you shouldn't entirely blame yourself. Summoning is chaotic and random and no offense but if I had to choose between Megumin and Misaki, I'd pick Misaki in a heartbeat. If I had to choose between myself and Misaki, I'd pick Misaki."

"So you want to focus more on the system?" Domino asked.

"Yes," I said. "Larra is stable and the plans I've already made are going well, but I'm not going to be making any more. Instead, I'm going to focus my time on leveling and summoning. Honestly, I don't know if it was just the shock of everything or wanting to try my hand at being a king, but that's over. I've proven I can be a king, in comparison to the heirs and Biroth, and some others I've heard about, I'm pretty damn happy with where I stand on that front if I'm being honest."

"So hunting?" Leone asked.

"For some of you, yes," I replied. "Obviously the non-combatants will focus on their craft. Asia will heal and Rindo will cook, while Sebas can switch when the need arises, and also, I'm going to hunting as well."

I had abilities I hadn't even used and I hadn't tried my attack force and defense force on most of my summons. I'd chosen king and I was a king and damn good one if was being honest. The people were happy, crime was nearly non-existent, there was free washing, wells, healing houses, and plans for free education. I'd done enough for now, more than most would have. It was time to get on the grind and go full warrior king for a time. Why waste my time planning for an invasion from the likes of Ventrin, when I could grind, get stronger, and trivialize it.

The books I'd read had put Larra as a minor kingdom, and from what I'd read of the grand kingdom, well right now, even with my summons, I wouldn't stand much of chance. The level of power kor and mana allowed was great.

What would happen if a peak-level kord or mage came to Larra? Or those even above that level? My summons could put up a small fight but we wouldn't win and If I died then it was all over.

"That's the idea I have. I grind, get levels, more summons then reevaluate and look at this Tyrofell empire once again afterward."

If things were escalating then I needed to stop trying to slow it down and embrace it.

I needed to embrace the escalation.
