Against the World: The last Monapart

No one with the name Monapart could ever use magic. But no Monapart ever cared about it. They were always the strongest of them all. Each one stronger than the last. The world couldn't accept their existence. When the strongest Monapart died, they swore to never let another one get stronger again. Every human, beast, and demon would be killed at the mere mention of the name... But time passes, and soon, they forgot. "Curses...Curses... The fucking curses! They were the rage, the fear, and the embodiment of someone's will, so why?! Why all of them are made to kill everything?!" Said the first Monapart. But the curse in front of him didn't answer, it just stared at him smiling like always. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- When he was born, he didn't cry, nor made any kind of sound in the process, but no one cared for him enough to notice. After just two days of life, he opened his eyes. An unusual thing as babies usually need at least a month to do so. His green eyes moved wildly looking at every corner of his room with deep curiosity, but not understanding anything in his view. He still couldn't understand the concept of 'thing' yet, but that changed after one month of life. After one month, he understood he was alive and most of the things in the room weren't. He still couldn't put it in words but he clearly knew that he was way different than the chair next to him. The speed of his understanding was outstanding. Sadly, in his sixth month of life, while he was asleep, flames covered his entire room and himself. It didn't take even a second and all the room turned into ashes. The baby didn't die as expected, but he was no longer in the dark room. [ Curse received: Heart offering ] . . [ Heart offering: Once per day the curse bearer will lose one of his five senses until he loses everything or dies ] . . [ Heart offering is taking effect ] . . [ Sense of hearing lost] ----------------------------------------------------------------------- -At least one chapter of 1000 words a day -If you don't like the start, I guess chapter 21 is a good one to jump to but you will still feel a little lost -If you find any error, please comment on it and I will fix it -I hope you like it

After a few days of traveling, they arrived at a mountain's bottom.

"This might get way more dangerous than what we are used to, if anyone wants to leave, now is the time"

Vicky hesitated a bit, she was probably the weakest in the group. She completely relied on everyone to keep her safe since she couldn't fight at all.

The rest didn't even think twice before following Ren into the mountain range. The mountain was wide and there was fog everywhere. As they went higher and higher, the fog increased along with the number of trees.

"Ah!" Vicky tripped on a tree's root. Anne helped her get up as everyone was alert for any enemies.

"Everyone stay closer to each other, the fog may get someone lost and we still don't know what lies ahead"

Everyone followed Ren's orders and became more vigilant.

Vicky was getting more and more nervous. She was feeling anxious for some reason and she couldn't tell why.

The group kept advancing forward until the fog was thick enough to make everything look white. They could barely see each other.

Leny proposed to attach a rope to everyone so no one gets lost. A few seconds later, all Vicky could see was white. She could barely see her feet anymore. The only thing giving her directions was the rope.

She was really afraid of getting lost. If a monster found her alone, she would die for sure.

Vicky was following the rope when abruptly, it started to shake and move around weirdly.

She didn't stop walking but a few seconds later, she gasped in horror. The rope was cut and not attached to anyone anymore.

She stopped moving and stood there holding the cut rope in fear. She didn't know what to do, if she screamed for help a monster might find and kill her. But if she stayed here she might die as well.

Going back was the best option but she had no idea where she came from.

She looked everywhere and all she could picture in her head were monsters appearing from the fog and ripping her into pieces.

Every time she heard a sound, her body would shake in fear.

Every time she stared in a direction for too long, she would get the feeling something was looking at her from behind.

Her head kept turning in every direction, trying to find anything but she saw nothing. Vicky's hands were shaking and sweat fell from her forehead.

She didn't know why she was so afraid, she didn't see anything dangerous yet but her head couldn't stop thinking about something she didn't even know what it was.

Everything was inside her head, her fear was making her imagination go astray.

She was on the edge of screaming when a hand grabbed her shoulder. Vicky's body shock with fright but she soon became relieved to see it was Anne.

"Are you okay?"

Vicky's fear went away as she calmed down, everything was just inside her head. She took a deep breath and recovered from her little stunt.

"... I'm fine now, thanks"

Anne looked at her with a confused face.

"Are you su..."

*SPLASH*

A hand pierced Anne's chest from behind splashing blood all over Vicky's face. Vicky couldn't even scream when another hand pierced Anne's chest again and the two hands divided her body in half.

Vicky's horror turned into panic and she started running with everything she had. She didn't even look back as she ran with a ragged breath and blood on her face.

Her heart was racing and she couldn't breathe properly. She was afraid, too afraid, the image of Anne being ripped apart haunted her head.

She started screaming and her legs were shaking so much that she tripped and fell to the floor.

She wanted to look back to see if the thing was close but she didn't. She got up with her trembling legs and continued running. She was crying as she imagined herself being killed the same way as Anne.

Then she could hear the sounds of something getting closer and closer. She ran faster as her heart got louder.

*Bang*

The sounds got too close but before it could reach her, she hit a wall. Her head got red and she could see she had hit something like a wall made of fog.

She despaired, she would definitely die now. She had nowhere to run and began hitting the wall with all her strength.

*ROAR!*

She heard a roar of a beast behind her but didn't turn afraid she would die instantly and kept pushing the fog wall.

Suddenly, when she could feel the monster's breath on her neck, the fog wall disappeared and she fell to the floor.

She curled on the ground waiting for her death. But it didn't come. A few moments later, she opened her eyes.

She looked around confused. All the fog was gone and she could properly see everything now.

Then she saw Alexander, Ren, Mark, Hans, and Leny looking at her with confused faces. She suddenly screamed and recoiled on the ground. But they had no idea what happened.

Ren wasted a few minutes to calm her down and then helped her get up. At that moment, Vicky saw that the rope on her waist was still attached to Ren.

"T-There w-was... H-How..." She tried to speak as she recovered her breath, but then she saw Anne standing right behind Mark looking completely fine.

"I-I s-saw you..." She pointed at Anne with shaking fingers, but no one could understand what she meant. Vicky herself didn't know what to say, she just saw Anne dying a few seconds ago and now she is suddenly alive.

Vicky touched her face where there was Anne's blood but she couldn't feel anything anymore. The blood was gone.

"Y-You di..."

*Thud!*

Vicky couldn't finish her sentence when she suddenly fainted.

The group didn't know what happened to her inside the fog, they didn't see or heard anything strange there.

"Why did she faint? Is she ill?" Mark asked Ren who was the closest to her because of the tied ropes.

"I don't know, I made sure to check on her all the way through and she looked fine until now"
