Jason realized how much he missed his home when he reached the second floor apartment of Zack's Mansion. Jason always thought that it was a cool name for a man who rented two rooms flats. He habitually made a move to take off his jacket as he entered the apartment, but then remembered that his jacket had remained with the little girl.
He took off his boots and entered the living room, where he used a corner as the kitchen. The glass jar filled with coffee beans on the marble countertop looked more attractive than ever to him. Jason decided he needed sleep, not caffeine. A lightning bolt blinded his eyes for a second. His eyes, which he did not rest between thirty six hours of continuous contact lenses usage, did not help at all. His eyes were starting to hurt already.
He tried to remember if he had left anything that could get wet on the balcony as he moved to the bedroom. He decided that he didn't like any of his belongings enough to go out on the balcony and get wet again. He stood with his shirt not yet fully dried and picked up a few pieces without wetting the other clothes in his wardrobe. It was one of those autumn days when you were thinking about whether to start dressing thicker or argue with the apartment manager to start heating the building.
Finally he chose a thick wool sweater and comfy pants. He would argue with Zack tomorrow. He threw his wet and dirty clothes in a corner of the bathroom. He hung the holster belt more carefully on the hanger on the bathroom wall where the towels stand. After removing his lenses he lied into bathtub and closed his eyes as magical water heating system that caused the price of his apartment to double the other apartments on the seashore filled the bathtub.
He thought it was worth his money. While the warm water removed the last traces of the adrenaline that kept him awake, the shower gel that smells like an unfamiliar flower blew all the scratches on his body.
'Now... what should I do? The murders seem to challenge Rex's domination. What about lizard men and wolf?.. They have nothing with lion pack, have they?' Jason sighed. 'Did they lie to me? But why? I need a source of information to validate what I have learned from Rajid.' He thought of the beautiful brunette woman with emerald eyes. 'Viv... Will I ever trust you again?'
The sound of water overflowing from the bathtub turned Jason back to the moment. He turned off the tap. 'It's not the time to get emotional. I need info. Maybe I should give a visit Viv and Trisha.' Better than nothing at least, Jason thought. 'Trisha won't help me if I go for the police investigation. I'll have to ask the Captain a favor.'
Jason dried up and went to bed. He promised himself to buy dark curtains while cursing the sunlight that seeps through the white curtains. As he fell asleep under his soft blanket, his last thought was to remember to ask to take Eve into the Nyx temple when she went to see Trisha.
He was in his mother's arms in his dream. Then his mother turned into a lion and started chasing him, when he get caught the lion opened its mouth to roar, but what Jason heard was ringing. He opened his eyes. As he rushed to the communication talisman in the kitchen, his foot caught on something on the floor. Although he did not fall, he did not reach talisman in time to answer the call.
He sighed and looked at who made the last call. It was police. Nobody picked it up when he tried to call back. Jason sighed. 'Oh, whatever. If it's important they will call again.' While he was waiting for them to call him again, he put the water on the stove to make himself coffee. He glanced at the clock and saw that he had been sleeping for seven hours. Maybe it would be better if he made tea. Or maybe he would buy a coffee machine and give up the choice of whether to drink coffee or tea.
The ringing voice interrupted Jason's 'I just woke up and my brain has not joined me yet' thoughts. This time he answered the call.
''Jason Mitanni.'' Jason poured the hot water over the tea leaves.
''Hey, It is Zhou. You have to come the dock.''
''What happened?''
''One of the sailors found a body. It seems like other three. We are not sure because it stayed in the water too long. Farah want you to come and check it.'' Swollen corpse in water. Fantastic.
''Okay. Where are you exactly?'' As the hot water turned yellow, he added a few leaves of mint. If he did not want to vomit on the body, the nausea relieving tea would not do any harm.
Zhou said where they were. Jason promised to be there soon.
