Aloisius fiddled with the papers in his hand. He can't believe that he would get nervous. He felt confident in the last few days coming to the day of the competition. Never thought he would get scared now.
He can't back down, more importantly, he can't lose.
"Hey," Honey stood beside him. Aloisius looked beside him and smiled. For the past 2 months of practice, he had been acquainted with Honey. It's nice to know her better. And by god, she did not disappoint.
She was beautiful, fearless, and nice. "You can do this. I believe in you Aloisius," she said, holding his hand.
"Thank You," he replied taking back his hand.
"I'm sure you'll be spectacular too," he said hugging her.
"Y-yeah, you too," she replied surprised.
Aloisius let her go and stared into her beautiful golden eyes. Yandel coughed and both of them looked away as if electrified.
"The opening announcement is happening," Yandel said signaling Aloisius to come along. Aloisius nodded, he looked apologetically to Honey and said goodbye quietly.
Honey nodded absentmindedly at their stupidity. She's going to the same place, why do they need to single her out? She looked bewilderedly at the pair. She chuckles but follows them from afar.
Aloisius is now geared up, he is wearing a knight's armor and an enchanted pouch filled with numerous ready-made spells. He looks dashing with his sword and shield he needed to have to make up for his lack of aether.
Honey looked adoringly, well she doesn't lack charm either. Dressed in her own wizarding clothes, designed by her mother. A flowing red dress with two slits in the skirt to make running easier, and tall black boots. She also holds a white-pinkish scepter that was passed down by her family. Honey Moonstrider.
"Welcome dear chosens," a warm sultry voice sounded out, baffling the students. For once did they replace Ms. Ashel as the host?
"I'm sorry for not being able to meet you this year, my babies!" the woman said walking to the spotlight where everyone could see her. The students gasped. They could not believe that they would see HER. THE FAE.
The stadium broke into screams of glee and hoots. "WE LOVE YOU SCARLETT FAE" shouts can be heard.
The woman chuckled at the sight. She waved her hand, making the whole room quiet as a wave of calming aether grazed them.
"Let us start the party! Rules are set and I won't bore you, Just know that they exist darlings," she said snapping. Aloisius's eyes looked at the floating paper in front of him that contained the whole competition rules.
"Here's my favorite catch! Ooh, don't you all love a catch? You can break the rules! And won't be punished!" she said laughing at herself. The whole stadium grew quiet.
"Awh, you don't like that, don't you? Bah, Cheaters will still get punished my dears! That is if you get caught," she said trailing her hand to her lips. Almost twice as tall as the average woman, the Fae's head almost hit the ceiling when she jumped in glee.
"And I am sooo looking forward to the battles, So... Don't get Killed!" the Fae said, her laughter shaking the room.
Aloisius felt fear bubbling up in him. If that's the thing, he hoped it would be long before he faced Kurei. He followed the crowd wanting to take a glimpse of his 1st fight. It's with a man named Jarvoril Albellet.
He entered the battlefield. Runes already attached his armor. The man with dirty blonde hair looked at his enemy coldly before blasting him with a fireball. Aloisius internally rolled his eyes and raised his shield against the incoming attack.
Jarvoril laughed at the act. His fireball would just obliterate the shield. He knew he could win this match immediately when he learned he would be facing off against Aloisius Houston. How can that Half-Human win against an Aetherian?
Swoosh
The fireball bounced, startling Jarvoril. He jumped back casting a water magic. He looked at his opponent suspiciously. Jarvoril sent out three spells, a continuous attack of basic aether magic, a shield in front of him, and earth magic to make spikes come up to stab Aloisius.
Aloisius jumped forward and sprinted near Jarvoril and slashed his defense. The magic disintegrated, being absorbed by Aloisius's sword. Jarvoril leaped back redirecting the continuous bullets to Aloisius who sprinted towards him and took out a paper that had a rune that directed a high-pressure water right at Jarvoril's face.
Jarvoril flew to the wall with the water's flow. Aloisius, still avoiding the continuous basic attack crumpled the paper immediately stopping the attack before putting the blade to Jarvoril's neck. Javoril grunted, head spinning, he raised his wand and surrendered.
The crowd erupted in boos leaving only his friends to shout positive things. He flicked the water off his sword and sheathed it.
2nd round with Rioule Astefall
Now much more cautious Rioule attacked Aloisius much more fiercely however the battle still ended up with Aloisius winning.
"Bring me a much stronger wine," Scarlett said breaking the glass on her table. Ashel nodded and walked out to look for much stronger wine.
"Aloisius Houston, such an ugly name to be associated with our academy," she hissed looking out onto his 5th fight.
"Call Kurei Moore, he ought to end this child," she said to one of her shadow guards who flashed away.
"Wow, Aloisius, You're in a roll!" Honey exclaimed giving Aloisius water. He thanked her and drank it all. "Cheer for me ok? It's my turn to shine," she said playfully giving him a wink.
Aloisius smiled "Good luck," he said looking at that beautiful woman. He walked up to the seats of the Colosseum, ready to group up with his friend. Suddenly he felt Kurei's grip on his throat.
He choked holding Kurei's hand. "I didn't know how you did that, Aloy but I sure damn haven't been training you for a while now, haven't I?" he said eyes lifeless.
"You should not forget your place in this world, Aloy," he said slinging Aloisius on the wall. Kurei pushed back his sleeves and gave a slap to Aloisius who was still trying to regain his footing. Now back on the floor, Kurei stepped on Aloy.
"You have been running away from me for weeks Aloy, and I had fun but now, you should stay invisible and gone," he said stepping on him repeatedly. He tsked and went up to the restricted area.
"Kurei, I want him gone. You do know what I'm talking about right?" the fae said, twirling the glass of wine in her hand. She looked at him shortly and continued to watch Honey's match.
"Yes your Fae," Kurei said already thinking of a plan to obliterate Aloisius.
"You're up against that half-human? Good luck man," Rioulle said patting his almost in tears sister.
"I-if you were defeated by him, What about me?" she said whining. Rioulle laughed giving his sister some tips that might help her in the upcoming duel.
"Awh, the Astefall siblings," Kurei said leaning in the doorway of the twin's preparation room.
"Your lord, What can we help you with?" Rioulle asked shielding his sister who ceased her whining and is now looking at Kurei cautiously.
"Switch," he said plainly.
"What?" Akari exclaimed, frustrated.
"Switch," he said aether forming into dark tentacles around the twins.
"Sure, It will be our pleasure your Lord," Rioulle replied immediately calming his sister with a pat.
Meanwhile, Aloisius is now being taken care of by Honey.
"My gods, Were you the one in the fight or me? You're more beaten up than me Aloisius," she said worriedly. She is using healing magic on his cheek while Aloisius gears up for his upcoming battle.
"I'm sorry Honey," he said, he took her hand from his face and kissed it. "It's for your win," he said smiling as he nuzzled his face in her palm.
"W-what's happening to you Aloi?" she said, face red.
"You," he replied teasingly.
"Psycho!" she said laughing.
"Next up is once again, Aloisius Houston who is up against Kurei Moore!" shouted Scarlett with unhidden glee.
Aloisius's eyes constrict as he tightens his hold on his weapons. Kurei, holding nothing walked leisurely on the battlefield.
Instantly, Aloisius sent three different runes to Kurei's direction which Kurei pierced with a dark magic tentacle before they even activated. Aloisius squinted his eye in caution as Kurei also observed him.
Tension can be felt in the air. Varana who was watching on the sideline couldn't help but feel conflicted on who to cheer for.
Kurei sped to Aloisius who ran to the side avoiding close contact with Kurei while also sticking an explosive rune on him. Aloisius continued to deflect and attack Kurei's dark magic tentacles as Kurei backflipped and threw the paper rune to the side before it exploded.
Aloisius saw this moment of distraction to teleport near Kurei and slashed him on the cheek before he got thrown by a tentacle. Catching himself by his sword. A burst of attacks from the tentacles overwhelmed him with only his shield as a defense.
Kurei licked his blood and grew berserk. He laughed crazily which stunned the loud crowd that was enjoying Aloisius's torture. He made a tentacle envelope Aloisius who finally got his sword out of the ground now slashing the damned things. He sent a big fire attack with his sword.
The crowd went silent with only Scarlett's laugh being heard in the background while two fought.
"What's the matter Aloy? Still as useless as ever?" Kurei asked hissingly so only the two of them could hear it.
Kurei sidestepped from the attack and took out his own sword from his inter-dimensional pocket.
He approached Aloisius and their swords clashed with Kurei's instantly shattering.
"Oops, sorry, is that your ego I heard?" Aloisius asked as he jumped back.
Kurei stopped in place as If frozen. Aloisius smirked and sent out 15 different runes to Kurei. Jumping up to slash any tentacle that's about to pierce his runes. A bunch of attacks, directed at Kurei activated as the crowd and Aloisius breath hitched. Is Kurei still alive or will he be eliminated?
They looked over at the cloud of smoke. Aloisius prepared for an upcoming attack as the crowd prepared to cheer. A burst of cheers erupted as Kurei stood in the middle unharmed. Aloisius gritted his teeth and ran close to the man to try and slash at him once again when his hand extended, causing Aloisius to fall backward.
He flips his way up as he watches Kurei go absolutely insane. The crowds panicked as a dome of darkness enveloped the Colosseum.
"You are not going out alive this time Human," he said as he sent multiple tentacles sharp and hard to Kurei who dodged expertly. His tentacles damage the walls close to the audience who can't help but fear for their safety.
Wild tentacles flew out his back as dark aether spilled out of Kurei's eyes and mouth.
Scarlett watching from the side tsked in annoyance. The child's corrupted. Such a waste, however, might just give her what she wants. So she lets his rampage go on as she sets a protective layer on her tower for her people. Maybe this might also be a nice lesson for these children. After all, faes are not born. They are made and how is that? It is by Fighting for their lives.
Aloisius looked around worriedly, this distraction caused him to be flung across the Colosseum where a waiting tentacle waited for him. Desperate to survive, Aloisius tried to move despite the ringing in his head.
"Aloisius!" Honey exclaimed going down with her broom as she shot the tentacle with light magic. She swoops her up as she becomes the new target of tentacles. Students panicked and defended themselves from the wild tentacles that attacked anyone. Running here, and there and flying everywhere.
"Everyone out to the exit!" Rechelle shouted creating a path to the exit with vines and colorful flowers. The students heard their President's shout and tried to follow the vines while protecting themselves.
"Heart Slam!" Varana shouted as a heart-shaped light magic flew out of her heart-shaped scepter. "KUREI! ALOISIUS!" she shouted, floating among the chaos. she zoomed in the middle of the battlefield looking for Aloisius.
"Here Varana!" Aloisius exclaimed sending light magic runes to the tentacles.
She blasted off a few before standing beside them.
"Help me get to Kurei," Aloisius said looking at the laughing man surrounded by layers and layers of dark magic manifestation.
"B-but he is dangerous right now," Varana replied still defending herself.
"I got your back," Honey replied already speeding to Kurei with Aloisius.
"A-ARGH, Why can't those two ever stop being relentless?!" Varana shouted as she followed the two of them.
Varana and Honey accompanied by Rolvenik later on helped Aloisius near Kurei as near as they could. Aloisius, felt him being pulled by the Dark Magic. Aloisius walked in on Kurei's world standing tall and proud. Ready to face the biggest oppressor in his life.
Aloisius's heart constricts at the memory lane that he is passing down. The cruel things that Kurei's father did to his own son and the way he made Kurei into his own clone. Aloisius felt conflicted as he met Kurei face to face. Crying while laughing.
He stopped and looked at Aloisius. Kurei stood looking straight into Aloisius's eyes. Their faces, 1 inch apart.
Kurei swung his enlarged hand on Aloisius's side who jumped back and threw out a light magic blast. It hit Kurei right on the face as he stood there frozen. Aloisius felt an uncomfortable upper hand inside this dome.
"How can you get a nice life with your mother when I, an Aetherian live a shitty life?" Kurei asked. His voice sounds duplicated with one angry and one crying.
Aloisius stayed quiet and took out two runes, one that was blessed from the Goddes of Light's temple. He softly put it in the ground while he used the other to make a shield for himself.
In an instant, the whole dome exploded with light. He can hear the corrupt dark magic breaking slowly. One of the voices of Kurei, the angry one he can hear shouting while the other one is giggling.
Suddenly a ringing sound exploded throughout the Colosseum and even reached outside.
"You're safe now child," said softly by a white shadow enveloping Kurei.
The light faded with the smoke and Kurei was revealed, in a fetal position face clean with only his tears staining his face.
Scarlett's eye twitched at the sight. "Did that Aloisius just summon the fucking Goddess of Light?" she asked Ashel whose beside her.
